Magic ring and a not very competent witch lead to interesting adventures. This is the first Ruth Chew book in which the mother of the pair works outside the home.

This book is really weird, even for a Ruth Chew book.

It has a witch. I like it when there's a witch. Ruth Chew's books are better when there is a witch.

This book also has a magic ring (of course), flying bicycles (I like flying bicycles), and giant ants (or tiny people).

I know none of the Ruth Chew books are logical, but this one seems somehow looser and less likely.

I'd give it two and half stars if I could, but since I can't, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and three stars.

I'm pretty sure the positive ratings are from people who are giving any Ruth Chew book a good score. Just re-read this and it was pretty crappy.

Definitely written for a younger audience. Still, I remembered the title and cover of this book well over a decade after reading it so I believe I enjoyed it a the time.

Sometimes after reading something with a heavy subject matter, you just need a young reader to lighten things up. This one was perfect!
