David Michael Letterman is an Emmy Award-winning American television host and comedian. His first major success occurred on the long-running NBC television program, Late Night with David Letterman, before moving to CBS in 1993 to his current place on the Late Show.

Letterman's ironic, often absurd comedy is heavily influenced by former Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen, Johnny Carson and Jack Paar.

READING DIARY - 4

Fun trip down 1991 memory lane when Dave was everything I wanted in a man. I am moving which means I am sorting out books and I stumbled upon this book (most likely meant to be read at leisure on the toilet). Comedy is an interesting study if one wants to gage how far social change has gone. Lots of gay jokes and fat shaming; Cher and Dan Quayle frequent targets of sex and dumbness. A few times I actually laughed aloud. And I definitely got the feel of life in NYC and what was in the news that year. Not shockingly some things continue to hold true. Trump was seen as a business buffoon and there was trouble in the Middle East. Now there would be less terrorists jokes and profiling Middle Eastern men as all terrorists...but that was life 31 years ago.

This was The Perfect Bathroom Read. You didn't need to remember anything from one sitting to the next. 1992 was hilarious.

Picked this up for a buck at the library and stuck it in the bathroom. I love to poop and I love to laugh, so things are working out well.

My Mom bought this book for me when it first came out and it was the funniest thing I had ever read! I still read it for a laugh!

Dave's the best! :)
