Blood Owed

Rate this book
Stumble upon a turf war and accidentally kill a wolf one time and the whole world wants you dead.

Well maybe not the whole world.

The Blood Mafia should be happy I've taken out one of their enemies. Instead they want to use me for their own gain.

Now that they’ve captured me, I’m determined to escape and stab a few vampires on my way out. The only problem is my freedom comes at a price.

My heart.

Mateo, Colt, and Grayson speak to my soul in ways I never expected. I want to hate them, but I’m not sure I can escape them without leaving a piece of myself behind.

Usually, when it's after work and I have to start a new book, I read a few chapters and then I'm like: Tomorrow is another day. So, I was planning on starting this book after work, just to get a feel for the story and to hopefully be eager to read more tomorrow morning. And then all of a sudden it was about three hours later and I finished the entire book. In one sitting. I made dinner in between in the airfryer, I went to the toilet once with my iPad so I could keep on reading and I just couldn't stop anymore.

This story is quite addictive from start to finish and that's mostly because our heroine is such an amazing and entertaining character. She basically has no filter, for reasons explained in the book she has the urge to run headfirst into danger, she doesn't shut her mouth when she's in front of vampires or werewolves and she doesn't let a guy manipulate or control her. It also means that she escapes death quite often in this book, but in this case it really fitted her, who she is and what she is.

On top of that I was quite surprised that there were quite a few female bonding scenes in this book too! Quite often in reverse harems friendships with girls are mentioned but not really shown, this book however does show the blossoming female friendships. I really enjoyed the dynamic between these three ladies, partly because the vampire girls were quite interesting and both really different characters, but also because it showed so much about vampire culture.

Because despite the fact that the plot of this book was quite thin, and that the three guys and our main heroine were building up the sexual tension and took their sweet time unloading it, I really enjoyed getting to know the vampire world, their customs, their weaknesses, their world, the way they live their lives. I was quite impressed with the amount of detail and with how much thought went into crafting this little part of the world.

And that ending! I really can't wait for the next book!

This was such a great read, I absolutely could not put down my kindle. The whole plot had me hooked, the writing style was spot on and the pace was fast. Before I knew it I was done, and on top of that it had a huge cliffy. I really need book two now!!

Demi is such a strong character that I connected with early on. She goes through so much here, and I need to know more about her.

Rory does such an excellent job of catching and keeping the readers interest with the plot, action, mystery, and a touch of sexual tension.

I would highly recommend this read!!!

Vampires, werewolves, and humans - oh my!

Blood Owed definitely flew by for me. Ever since I met Demi, I just knew that she wasn't going to disappoint. She had one hell of a backbone and didn't let anyone control her. Especially when it came to the supes in her world. She didn't take anyone's shit and she was going to raise hell no matter what.

So it's safe to say that when she winds up being kidnapped by some hot vampires - Grayson, Colt, and Mateo - well, her life just wasn't going to be the same anymore. Now I definitely have so many questions when it comes to Demi's background. Mostly because she didn't really know what she was until almost the end of the book.

I would also like to see more happening between her and the vampires because the teasing moments need to go. I just want more romance and smutty things to be happening in the near future. Especially after the little crumbs I got towards the end of the book. Just when I got something.. I was cockblocked by a stabbing. Ugh!

In the end, Demi is just chaotic and I love it. I'm definitely diving into the next book stat because I need all the answers and romance.

Holy shit, talk about an explosive ending! Did she really just stab him in the heart while they were f*cking? Not only for this reason but I absolutely loved the heroine. Clearly this chick is ballsy and I loved her snark and attitude. Sure she may have been scared as hell at times of supes around her but no matter what this girl did not back down. Really the book flew by far too fast. I feel like the time and times she spent with the three men were kinda lost in the shuffle as she had so much time to herself locked up or stuck in the apt they granted her. I really wish they’d just tell her what she is, I feel like she won’t even be surprised given how stab happy she is. Seriously she stabs everyone and I’m here for it 🤣 I don’t quite get why she didn’t at least finish having sex with Colt before stabbing him but a girls prerogative I guess, technically she finished but did he? That’s just cold lmao. Can’t wait to learn more about the guys especially as they all have lots of history being hundreds of years old and all. And now that she’s literally pierced one of their hearts I want to know if they will they still want to f*ck her or kill her. Not only that but she’s days away from coming in to some ‘magical’ power and they’ve yet to tell her what exactly will happen and how she will change. I mean the laws of the universe will make them complete enemies and I can’t wait to see how things will play out from here.

3.75 maybe, as this is quite tricky to rate.

I did enjoy this. Its a quick, easy read with a completely batshit, violent female MC. It's one of those books where what I liked about it is also what I disliked a bit.

Take Demi, for instance. On one level I liked her a lot. Her stab first, ask questions later atgi tide was somewhat amusing. However, I also found it a bit much at times and slightly characature-ish. I can handle a certain amount of ridiculous, but I feel the book did push it with her character a bit too far.

I liked the Harem. There are three vampire who are all different enough from one another, although I wouldn't say theyre massively characterised. They are all drawn to Demi due to her stabbiness, but also because of a secret heritage she's not aware of.

There's not really a plot beyond Demi being taken by the vampires at the start and her sort of adjusting tj that life, but it did keep me engaged.

I would say this is medium burn in terms of physicality. Emotionally, Demi still hasn't forgiven them for their treatment of her at the start, which is a nice change from the typical RH fare.

All in all I would recommend this to RH fans who like a stabby and violent MC and are in the mood for something not too serious.

Holy shit. She’s a psycho.
I love it!😂
This was a really entertaining start to the series.
I absolutely Love Demi’s attitude and ‘stabby’ nature.
Badass, psycho FMCs have always been my ultimate favorite kind.
And the guys.
They’re dark, and broody, and villainous, and totally caught in Demi’s crazy orbit of distrust and disdain for them. It’s sort of adorable hearing their thoughts about how they can’t get enough of her fierce anger.

I can’t wait to see how things pick up.
That ending was fabulously violent.
It’ll be fun to see how they punish her for that…

I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, but I actually found myself pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it, the ending left me looking forward to the next book in the series. Once I started reading I literally couldn't put it down until I'd devoured it.

Demi literally has her life turned upside down and pretty much stolen from her when she witnesses a gang fight between supes behind the club where her and bestie, Lexi have gone partying after Demi finds herself betrayed by her boyfriend. Things literally go from bad to worst in just a few chapters of the book but it definitely makes for a really interesting story from start to finish.

I absolutely love Demi and all her sassy, feisty, kick butt glory. Though I am wondering just how long till her mouth really does get her into more trouble than she bargained for, where the men around her are not there to protect her. Also the reveal of who she actually is, I'm not sure what I thought she was going to be, but what she turned out to be definitely wasn't it.

I for one will definitely be coming back for more once book two is out!

Side note: part of the author's note and a little bit after it left me cackling, cause I can totally relate.

This was so easy to dive into. It dives right into the story and shows us that our main character Demi is a badass. She's trained to fight and has no problem going after bigger enemies. Demi might be a bit unhinged in her thirst for violence, but it makes her that much more fun to read.

The three men pretty interesting and I liked the chemistry they each have with Demi. It's easy to see how she could end up with all of them and I can't wait until we get there! The ending was surprising and left me needing more, so I'll be jumping into the sequel as soon as I can.

Dear god, this has to be the most boring book I have read this year. I would have DNFed this so hard if it was not for the fact that it hit a few of the Halloween bingo squares, so I am giving it an honourary mention in the DNF category. The last 75% of the book I was just cringing at how bad it was.

I really liked this one, I'm glad I did because RH has been killing me lately. I just haven't been wanting to read them. However, I've been reading regular old RH, not fantasy RH. Maybe that was my issue.

Anywho, Demi is the star of this book. She's a human who lives in a world where humans know about the supernatural beings of the world. She's actually dating a wolf at the beginning of this book. Until she walks in on him cheating on her and she decides to go out with her bestie, Lexi, to a club. Well, she gets wasted and ends up in the middle of a wolf/vamp fight. A wolf decides to try to attack her and she kills it. For retribution, the wolves want the vampires to bring the human to them. Thus, the kidnapping of Demi commences.

And what a spit fire Demi was! I absolutely adored her and her quick witty-ness. This was super good!

This book absolutely KILLED me! It was so incredible and we are left with such a jaw dropping cliff hanger. I was warned throughout the book. Demi is oh so very strong and she goes through so much in a short amount of time. I cannot wait to find out more about Demi's history and who she is in the next book! This is definitely a must read filled with action, stabby stabby, sexual tension and quite a bit of mystery! Rory Miles did an incredible job and I could not put this book down! I am going to be sitting her impatiently waiting for January so I can find out what happens next! This boom is pure gold with the humor as well, definitely had me laughing out loud quite a few times. I put my claim on Colt though! These men are hot, mysterious and definitely charming!

DNF

MC is running for her life from the mafia, is attacked in her own home, and all she can think of while actively fighting off a strange man is how hot he is, and how attractive his insanely creepy words are. Here's just one example of many from that scene:
'I throw my palm toward his nose, but he catches my wrist and tugs me closer. I’m completely and totally fucked. His breath fans over my face, and he grins. “I do love them feisty.” Why is this fucker so charming?'

Charming?!?! Um, no thanks. I would like believable scenarios and characters, please. Next.

A chance night out ends in a tragedy and Demi (FMC) finds herself stuck in the middle of a Supernatural turf war. Between Vampires and Werewolves. I genuinely loved the banter and the sexual tension between Dani, Mateo, Colt & Grayson. Demi is a great character. Smart, Witty and very stab happy. There was lots of laugh out loud moments throughout this book and that cliffhanger ending was just killer!!! I absolutely loved this book & i cant wait for the next book

This book was a wtf, it was a alright read characters werent described very well and the book was just kind of confusing at first. Like wait she killed a wolf then shes kidnapped by vampires?! Why didn't they take her when she killed the wolf? It frustrated me also that Demi was just annoying about the "stabbing" of people. The ending was a hugh cliffhanger that was to be expected. Not sure if I'll give the second book a thought this one didn't hold onto my attention long enough.

My feelings:

I got given this book for free in my Babe bag when I went to the event. It took me a bit to get around to actually reading the book.

Colt killed four vampires for wanting to suck my blood. Grayson killed the female for turning the bomb on.

I grabbed the audio version as well as I love a good audio and read session. If you don’t do both your missing out, trust me!

They were all dead. Nix killed them all. Demi’s not possible. Hunters are extinct; Nix made sure of it. Almost thirty years have passed since that night.

I didnt think I would enjoy this at all. But thought I would give it a crack anyway. I ended up loving it. And I grabbed the next 2 in the series! Its so good.

“I’ll tell you, but only after you drink my blood two more times.” “Let me guess, then I’ll be tied to you for the rest of my life?” Mateo shrugs. “Something like that.”

I love the 3 men in this or should I say Vampires! Im a massive sucker for vamp books. I really am. Add in why chose and you got a good book!

“How’s the fettuccine here?” Colt, Grayson, and Mateo stare at me like I’ve lost my marbles. Bold of them to assume I had them all in a jar before.

I hope she ends up with them! I like them all!
Highly Recommend!

3.5-4*

I decided to review the whole series together, because I basically devoured the entire thing in just 2 days.

The best thing about this series is by far the FMC. She was crazy in the best way possible. The MMCs are nice and the side characters very interesting, but she is the star of it all. Being very honest, the story is not the most incredible thing, but the great FMC makes it to a 4-star. She is basically that kind of character that might seem unrealistic, if you are not on one of your crazy days. Because if you are, she makes total sense and it was exactly what I needed.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between all the characters and how the FMC took her time warming up to the MMCs after what they put her through. She was insane in some ways, but her reactions made sense considering the overall context. All three MMCs had their problems and honestly they were mostly just ok for me. They weren’t anything extraordinary compared to how good I thought the FMC was.
My first books by Rory Miles were fun to read. There was some stuff that bothered me, like the lack of backstory for most of the characters, but in general it was an entertaining story. Despite the issues, the series was enjoyable. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but in my opinion it delivered the kind of fun it promised and was a nice experience.

This was a really good start to a new mafia reverse harem series. Rory is a new author for me and I really liked her writing style. This book was filled with humor, snark, drama, and a girl on her period surrounded by vampires.
I had hopes that Demi was going to be a little more psychotic than she was, but I still really liked her character. She’s tough, self destructive, and loves Italian food. Rory made me crave pasta and breadsticks while reading this book! Out of the guys, I can’t pick a favorite between Colt and Grayson, but I definitely like them both more than Mateo. Alissa was probably my favorite character in the story along with Evelyn. I liked that neither of them hid who they were or their intentions from Demi and their snarky, fun, and fierce personalities.
I enjoyed that Rory managed to put her own spin on the paranormal world and liked learning about it and its history. This book builds on the sexual tension, but it’s definitely a slow burn romance. Honestly, I saw the ending coming so it wasn’t a huge cliffhanger for me, but I’m still looking forward to the next book in the series.
