Yowza! What the Hart Wants Indeed! The first time Lilah met him, she hit him with an urn filled with the ashes of one of his ancestors! When he opened his eyes "he senses were assaulted by the most striking blue she'd ever seen... she would have believed him a gift from the gods."

Of course Fraser MacGregor, now thirteenth Duke of Molineux, was a braw Scot and to say his and Lilah's first meeting was a little explosive, well.... needless inflammatory is more like it!

Woohoo! Another fabulous offering from the pen of Emily Royal. I love a strong, determined hero who gets stopped in his tracks by a feisty heroine. Even better if that hero is a muscular Scot who makes one weak at the knees!
Despite her prejudices, the heroine, Delilah, is persuaded to overcome her inherent dislike of the aristocracy. Well, who wouldn’t, with the delicious Fraser MacGregor to spar with? And there are plenty of other intriguing characters adding colour to the story—I can’t wait to

From the first few chapters, I was put off by Delilah's gratuitous aggressiveness and propensity to lash out, and Fraser's blatant sexual overtures bordering on boorishness. I could not get into the story nor connect with the characters. I do not mind arrogant heroes and churlish heroines, however, in this instance the combination was a disaster and sometimes painful to read.

2/5 ~

The first book in the Headstrong Harts series, What the Hart Wants follows Delilah Hart, a young woman determined to carve her own path in a male-dominated society. Published in a local paper under a male pseudonym, Lilah critiques the aristocracy, especially the detestable Molineux family, who has a history of corrupt behavior.

When Lilah meets the newest Duke of Molineux, sparks fly. Irresistibly drawn to each other, Fraser and Lilah begin to questions their beliefs, goals, and feelings. Can th

What the Hart Wants follows Delilah Hart during her first season, though she has no intention of following her rich brother's orders, and marrying someone titled just for the prestige. She is all about equality, feminism, and very much against the horrific and notorious Molineux family. So when she comes across the newest Duke, Fraser MacGregor, and is instantly attracted, she is completely an

Fraser MacGregor, Duke of Molineux unexpectedly inherited the title.  Unfortunately, said title has passed through some very disreputable hands and is thoroughly disgraced.  Fraser didn't really want the title but maybe it can be used to help his business interests. Our hero is a typical brash and bold Highlander who gives no quarter to dishonesty.

Miss Delilah Hart is an intelligent and independent young woman who is not frightened of airing her views on equality. Although her brother is a very

Just a short back story… I read mostly historical proper or Christian romance. In most of my books the characters hardly ever kiss. But I need to widen my author and publisher list so I thought I would try something a little different but still historical romance. That is how I came to read What the Hart Wants by Emily Royal. Once I started reading the first few chapters I was thinking, well this is not Christian or proper but I am going to read this and see how I like it.

What the Hart Wants by Emily Royal is a refreshingly different Highland romance. Delilah Hart grew up in a middle-class-to-poor home Thanks to her brother's efforts, they are now wealthy; he is a financial genius and astute businessman. None-the-less, the ton wants not part of them. The snobs are out in force. There are only a few who bank with him or will be seen socially with him. He wants a titled husband for Delilah; she could care less. She's not sure she wants a husband at all. She is a wr ...more

This book follows the story of Delilah Hart and Fraser Macgregor. Delilah is a very likable character. A sexy Scot (don't tell anyone he's actually kind of sweet and sensitive) and a headstrong and feisty Lady combust on the page at the beginning, but fizzle somewhat by the end.

I loved the quick witted banter, especially at the beginning when Fraser MacGregor and Delilah Hart first meet. Fraser is a dirty talking Scot, so be prepared for lots of sexual innuendoes and overtones inserted into many of his conversations. This was fun for a bit, but became somewhat tedious. When neither character grabs or holds your interest it’s hard to enjoy the story. The h came across as it is her way or the highway. She sets out to ruin the H because he came from a long line of awful men. Even after she gets to know him, she still causes him ruin. She is suppose to be intelligent. But, when the editor says he is still going to publish her story HIS way, she doesn’t see the harm it would cause?

t's not often that I find difficulty with a book as I am always mindful of the fact that an author's heart and soul has gone into the writing of it. However, there were a number of issues that bothered me about this novel, namely the high level of aggression on the part of Delilah Hart, the crudity of the Duke of Molineux, and the underlying deception on which the plot was based. I was left feeling uncomfortable on all counts. I am glad that I kept on reading as the last third of the novel spoke ...more
