Excellent devotional! Food isn't the issue and diets aren't the cure!
I loved this devotional for many reasons. It was written clearly and livingly, giving the reader so much hope! This isn't a typical lose weight devotional, focusing on the "don'ts" of dieting. Truthfully it isn't about dieting! It's about reframing how you look at yourself and food. So if you're looking for another book on diets this isn't for you. However, if you're looking to dig below the surface and learn what motivates you and the food choices you make, who you are in Christ, and be reaffirmed about God’s love for you, regardless of how much you weigh, you've come to the right place.
This devotional is about God's grace and applying that grace to yourself, something we so easily do for others but not usually as easily for ourselves. It's about changing the negative voice in your head with the truth of God's Word and celebrating what you do right instead of focusing on what you perceive as what you've done wrong.
There are so many nuggets in this devotional so don't rush through it. Sit with it. Pray about it. Journal about what you’re reading and learning because God will show up and show you His plan in this area of your life.
The devotional was well written, kept my attention, and encouraged me to do the work. I didn’t miss a day because I couldn’t wait to see what was coming next! Transforming your thinking, your mindset, isn't easy and it takes work. Be willing to do the work because you are worth it! If you do the work you will see results.
Finally the author, Brandice Lardner, has so many wonderful FREE resources on her beautifully designed and easily navigated website. She provides a link to "30-Day Grace Filled Plates Companion Prayer" printable. I loved this! Short prayers and a calendar for you to write a word, or in my case a phrase, for that days study. At the end of the month you’re invited to look for a theme in what you’ve written. There’s also a mini course called, "Faith>Food which I loved! There are some great resources provided in this course too!
What I loved about Ms. Lardner is that she is interactive so if you make a comment she responds. If you email her with questions she responds. Your words, your insights, are not lost but heard! You see her heart in her work and her interactions with you.
I highly recommend this devotional. You will be blessed!
I really hope she writes another devotional in her engaging style.
