In this 30 day devotional book Brandice really makes it clear what the solution is to overindulgence. She says things like, "Stress eating is solved by God's peace, Comfort eating requires the Comforter, Boredom eating is alleviated by living His great purpose, Our Heavenly Father offers the medicine we need to soothe our food wounds." Wow!! I was just amazed in reading this book, because I have never really given my food issues to God. I would feel bad about overindulgence but never thought that God and I could handle this together.

I'm so thankful for this book. It's very doable. Brandice gives a Bible verse, a short deovtion and a Grace In Action step. I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with their relationship with food. This little devotional has the power to change lives, it really does.

What an incredible title, with content that fully lives up to the name!

You have to do the heart work, but having been in the launch team reading group, I’ve witnessed dozens of breakthroughs. At least, the ‘ah-ha’ moments that the team has been willing to share.

Each reading in this 30-day devotional is short but powerful. I found myself reading ahead, several days at a time until I hit one that I needed to soak in for a while. This book is going on my regular re-read list for sure!

The scripture and the devotion are meaningful, but the best part is the GRACE IN ACTION section at the end. 2-3 sentences, but they’re solid gold! We tend to talk a lot about Grace as Christians, but sometimes, I’m pretty sure we have no idea what we’re talking about. Understanding God’s Grace through these simple challenges will blow your mind in the best possible way!

Focusing on small changes, and having a “WHY” that truly matters, beyond feeling good and looking great, this devotional helps us rely on God in all those moments that make the difference. Not beating yourself up for making a ‘mistake’ or falling off the wagon.

Whatever your body looks like, and whatever your mental body image is, I can’t recommend this faith and fitness devotional highly enough!

This was a wonderful read that is simply delicious!

I truly enjoyed it from the first page to the last.

The author writes in a way that’s relatable and kind. She soothes the reader with Scripture, entertains them with personal stories and equips them with the tools they need to succeed in their journey to health and wholeness.

I highly recommend this book!

*The author's publisher provided me (Alexis A. Goring) with a complimentary copy of this book (Grace Filled Plates, Ditch Diets and Find Food Freedom Through God's Grace) by Brandice Lardner. My opinions in this book review are my own.

Excellent devotional! Food isn't the issue and diets aren't the cure!

I loved this devotional for many reasons. It was written clearly and livingly, giving the reader so much hope! This isn't a typical lose weight devotional, focusing on the "don'ts" of dieting. Truthfully it isn't about dieting! It's about reframing how you look at yourself and food. So if you're looking for another book on diets this isn't for you. However, if you're looking to dig below the surface and learn what motivates you and the food choices you make, who you are in Christ, and be reaffirmed about God’s love for you, regardless of how much you weigh, you've come to the right place.

This devotional is about God's grace and applying that grace to yourself, something we so easily do for others but not usually as easily for ourselves. It's about changing the negative voice in your head with the truth of God's Word and celebrating what you do right instead of focusing on what you perceive as what you've done wrong.

There are so many nuggets in this devotional so don't rush through it. Sit with it. Pray about it. Journal about what you’re reading and learning because God will show up and show you His plan in this area of your life.

The devotional was well written, kept my attention, and encouraged me to do the work. I didn’t miss a day because I couldn’t wait to see what was coming next! Transforming your thinking, your mindset, isn't easy and it takes work. Be willing to do the work because you are worth it! If you do the work you will see results.

Finally the author, Brandice Lardner, has so many wonderful FREE resources on her beautifully designed and easily navigated website. She provides a link to "30-Day Grace Filled Plates Companion Prayer" printable. I loved this! Short prayers and a calendar for you to write a word, or in my case a phrase, for that days study. At the end of the month you’re invited to look for a theme in what you’ve written. There’s also a mini course called, "Faith>Food which I loved! There are some great resources provided in this course too!

What I loved about Ms. Lardner is that she is interactive so if you make a comment she responds. If you email her with questions she responds. Your words, your insights, are not lost but heard! You see her heart in her work and her interactions with you.

I highly recommend this devotional. You will be blessed!

I really hope she writes another devotional in her engaging style.

A fantastic 30 day devotional, focused on loving yourself, through your faith. Being at peace with where you are at. Is very 'real' and intune with what the tug of emotional eating and dieting is like, and meets it head on in a very graceful way, with snippets each day from the bible with a very honest reflection, then a focus quote. The creators of the programme genuinely care about their readers, and you can tell in the reflections that they talk from experience. I found it was very balanced, and even as not an avid church goer myself, found that it wasn't too scripture heavy to put you off, but rather just short quotes from the bible to focus on, and reflect upon. As it wasn't a 'eat this' or 'don't eat this' type programme, it wasn't focused on restriction from any food type, but rather the inner workings of why we emotionally eat. I would highly recommend. Thoroughly enjoyed this, and found myself eager to get into each day's page and focus point. The real thing, and not a fad!

Perhaps one of BEST devotionals pertaining to eating, dieting and food that I have read in a L-O-N-G time! I can’t even begin to tally the number of diet and weight loss books I have purchased. It wasn’t until I realized the one thing missing from ALL my efforts was God, that I started seeing results and things clicked. Yes, God is interested in ALL aspects of your life and especially your eating which is not a diet but a lifestyle. This devo begins each day with a scripture verse to ponder and ends with an action plan to work on throughout the day.....Brandice also has a Facebook group which will be starting on September 14.....I am SO looking forward to participating in that too! Definitely a devotional to read and reread.

This book was written by an author who has wisdom beyond her years. It will help anyone who is struggling with food issues like myself. Whilst studying the 30 day devotional, it taught me that no food should be labelled ‘good’ or ‘bad’ since food does not enter the ‘heart’ but the stomach. By setting a time in my day praying, studying and then doing what the Word says, God sees my heart. I can’t help but ‘want to’ exercise self-control and discipline myself because this pleases God! When my daily focus is on him instead of food I slowly but surely am making spiritual progress! Thank you Brandice for leading in the right direction.

I thought this was a really solid devotional. If you find yourself struggling with gluttony, over eating or binge eating or stuck in diet culture, then check it out. I wouldn’t say it would be particularly helpful for those in the throes of overcoming an eating disorder... but if you find yourself in a difficult or tumultuous relationship with food, check it out! Quick daily devotional that uses scripture.

Brandice breaths a fresh perspective and encouragement into each day. This is more about our hearts than the food we put in our mouths. Based on Scripture & with daily action steps, you relationship with food will be transformed.

Truth and Encouragement

In a world of unrealistic expectations and a focus on external beauty, this devotional is a dose of God’s reality. Yes, what you eat matters but what’s most important is how it either connects or distances you from the Lord.
Give yourself a dose of grace with your next meal. This devotional will show you how.

Rely on God's strength for your journey

This devotional is the best I have read when it comes to food and eating issues. In each daily devotion, we learn how we can rely on God's strength to make better food choices and therefore become of better service to Him and His kingdom.

Not Another Diet Book

This book aligns the change agent with the change desire. No matter how much you want to change the way you eat/view food or how consistently follow a food plan; you can do nothing on your own. The change agent (God) must go before you making the change possible.

Easy read

I enjoyed reading this devotional. Funny thing...you know how something is real and true, but it takes someone else to say it aloud or write about it before it "takes hold"?
That what this devotional did for me.
Enjoyed her little stories and related to most.

Refreshing

This is such a refreshing concept. As a person who has dieted all my life I find the possibility of being able to rely on God and the scriptures to fill this need something worth pursuing. It may take some work on changing my mindset. Brandice has a great down to earth writing style that talks right to you. Well worth the 30 day read. I plan to start over and give it another read.

I wanted so much more from this book. Longer devotions. More meat. More.
I felt like a lot of it was fluff - which is fine depending on what type of devotional you want. But I wanted….more. 😉

Grace and guidance from a Higher Source

Brandice Lardner has created a wonderful resource to help you focus your eating less on diet, less on you, less on getting what you want, and more on God. The 30 days really help to change your mindset more to the abundance that God gives us and trusting Him with your food choices. I highly recommend.
