Undercurrent is the first book in an all-new series by Kaylea Cross. As a long-time fan of her writing, this book did not disappoint. Kaylea Cross is at the top of my 1-click author list and one of my top go-to romantic suspense authors for a reason: she writes such wonderful characters and does suspense so, so well, no matter what world she’s creating. I’ve read and re-read so many of her books since I found her and will continue to do so. You can’t go wrong with any of her books, in my humble ...more

Aspen Savich sure knows how to make an impression, dressed in the era of her vintage car she visits Bowie Davenport's garage. She'd been told he's the best mechanic to fix her car.

For Bowie it's just another day of running from his past and going to work, until his brother shows up. Chase has been working as a stuntman since he left the military and rarely finds his way home. This is a nice surprise for Bowie and he doesn't waste time putting Chase to work as they catch up. At least until they h

What a great start to a brand new series by Kaylea Cross !

Undercurrent is book 1 of the Kill Devil Hills series, in this book we are introduced to the Davenport siblings, Bowie is the eldest and has stepped up since their parents passed away, he had my heart straightaway with how protective he is! 😍 both his siblings appear in this book, his sister Harper more so, and we won’t have to wait long for her book as she will be next in the series, the author teased us well with a sligh

Undercurrent is the first novel in the new series by Kaylea Cross, Kill Devil Hills. It is set in a little town in the Outer Banks and tells the story of Bowie Davenport, a Coast Guard veteran and owner of a mechanic shop, and Aspen Savich, a thirty-one-year-old woman from California who has an amazing retro style including that of driving a vintage car called Priscilla. Both are recovering from loss and find solace in each other. The chemistry between them is on fire, but Bowie pulls away until ...more

The first book always sets the tone of what’s to come, wow is this going to be a great series! Set in a quaint little town with a huge personality. Bowie a former member of the Coast Guard and loves this town and his family. A proud owner of the local auto shop he is always looking forward to helping anyone out. When Aspen drives her vintage car into the shop looking for a tune up she finds herself locking eyes with its owner. To say that these two had instant chemistry would be a understatement ...more

Intensely romantic!

Bowie and Aspen.
This was a delight key fully thrilling romantic suspense. I love the new town and the name is awesome oh and I adore Jack he is all kinds of grumpy old man wonderfullness. Chase and Harper are also amazing and I know their stories will be just as wonderful.
Bowie is gruffly gorgeous, a mechanic to boot and has Tatts so I was drooling from the beginning, then he;s driving a Challenger which is my second favourites car to a Charger so he had that going for him to.

Magic, butter and love!

Aspen is looking for a new beginning, Bowie doesn't realise a new beginning is even possible!
Aspen is exhausted, she has run from the conflict, the threats and the shame...but the new beginning packed with yummy english treats doesn't go quite as planned and you can see her confidence shrivel as the threats increase. However, Bowie is perfect for her, he supports her, protects her when needed but otherwise stands beside her, loving her. There is no threat that will stop hi

I'm a huge Kaylea Cross fan and so I bought this book the minute it was out, excited to start a new series. The writing style was the same that I've come to know and love with her books but I just didn't care for Aspen. I really wanted to like her, and at first I did. Then came her big secret. I saw it coming, or at least I assumed I did but hoped I was wrong, and so my affinity for her started to wane pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I was right and it was a deal br

Undercurrent- Kill Devil Hills book 1

This was an amazing start to this series with two people wanting to start over and finding love that they never expected to find. Bowie was still grieving the death of his girlfriend from years ago and blamed himself for her death. Aspen moved from California after her great Uncle Harry having left her his beach house in Kill Devil Hills so she could start her life over again and forget her painful mistakes of her past. He also left her his Woody and she took

You can feel the Undercurrent😍

Undercurrent is the newest book in Kaylea’s series of Kill Devil Hills and I can attest to it being simply spectacular. It’s full of nail-biting suspense, romance and steamy scenes but also redemption for the characters and overcoming their cumulative pasts😳

Aspen moves to KDH to escape her past and establish herself once again. She meets Bowie when she takes her car, Priscilla, to him for a service and as they say the rest is history❣️A slow build up but action-pack

Undercurrent is the start of a new series by Kaylea Cross. I think it was awesome!
The characters are wonderful !
The chemistry between Harper and Bowie is amazing and they are really made for each other. When danger follows Harper to Kill Devil Hills Bowie is there to help her. There is danger and suspense, a great small town atmosphere and hot romance! I liked Bowie’s family and can’t wait to read about them in the next books. Oh and I loved Priscilla 😀

If anyone reads my reviews they know I like to get to a series from the beginning. I did with this one and also from a author I do like to read. Aspen has moved and tries for a fresh beginning. If you are running though from trouble it always seems to follow with this not being any different. I would get the creeps if I felt someone was watching me as she does. She does get help from a mechanic that could go on a calendar but thank goodness he is willing to help. It could also help he is ex Coas ...more

With the start of the 'Kill Devil Hills' series, Kaylea Cross has given us a new location and fabulous characters to love.

Both Bowie and Aspen have struggled to move on following significant tradegies in their lives. Aspen's move to the Outer Banks changes that and a fortunate meeting sparks a mutual attraction.

Bowie is completely bowled over by the beautiful Aspen and an immediate need to protect her is fortuitous.

What a great introduction to Ms Cross' new series Undercurrent is, with just the right amount of suspense and romance mixed into a story that had me engaged from the start. Thanks to really likable and interesting characters, and the gorgeous setting of the Outer Banks; and with lots of detail, including fun local dialect and some edge-of-your-seat moments I was thoroughly entertained throughout.
