I’m becoming a big fan of John Bauer’s writing, and this acerbic coming-of-age drama is another good one from him. He is a sharp author, with a great professional style and a wry sense of humour. The interaction between the characters is entertaining and nostalgia-inducing; you remember talking that way with your buddies at their age (boys, that is; girls I can’t really speak for). More than that, though, Bauer has a knack of creating lead characters with multiple layers of humanity, as well as ...more

If you are like me a reader Who enjoys well crafted and well developed characters don't miss out on this book. I'm surprised by How much I've enjoyed both books by this author different as they are. In this case a very nostalgic coming of Age story and also a reflective tale on what a person has to give up to achieve his ambitions. That's when regret sets in.
The Atmosphere of 1969 in The United States, The Vietnam war happening is perfectly balanced with our characters tale, It doesn't over powe

Relatable and realistic plot. I liked this book a lot. The author told a story that is absolutely worth your time. The plot is very well-thought-out, the characters are interesting. The journey is this book is long, the author described a huge span of the life of the main character. And yet, it all makes sense, I could relate to some parts, I was surprised by others. The end is thought-provoking, bittersweet. It does give the closure needed to feel you finished the book. I recommend.

I can recommend the novel "All The Bay's Clams And All The Bay's Men". Personally, I liked the beginning and kept reading. Until the moment when it jumped many years, the character got older, and this was the moment when it really intrigued me. The author craftly expressed the character's remorse and regrets. ...more

The book is not full of action but it is very compelling. The story shifts at some point and it is a bit psychologically oriented. It was very interesting for me, and I felt every word.
