Normally don't go for the pretty landscaping books, but this one actually features plants for dry areas and low fertility soils and thus avoids the usual landscape advice problem of, plant non-native ornamental in 4ft deep topsoil and water every day. If you do have such a location available for landscaping needs you probably can just grow whatever you want and don't need advice books.

Reading for our adult summer reading program at the library. Kansas is 150 this year and one of the reading categories is to read a book about Kansas or one by a Kansas author. I'm obsessed with gardening this year so I figured this was the perfect light read to fulfill that category. I've already found a few perennials to add to my list.
