Recommends it for: those who enjoyed Beach Read or friends-to-lovers trope
I'll be posting my review closer to release day,, but for now all I'm gonna say is: best friends to lovers (the superior trope). witty banter. there's only one bed. opposites attract. slow burn. lots of yearning and pining. TENSION FOR DAYS.

    I miss them already 😭

Have you ever read a book that makes you wish you could unread it, forget everything, and read it again for the first time? My book hangover from this one is going to kill me. I'm so sad it's over. I loved it SO much. I want to listen to the audiobook and find a signed copy and watch every Zoom appearance the author goes on to talk about the book because it made my heart soooooooo ridiculously happy.

The story is told in Poppy's POV and it bounces from present day to flashbacks of her yearly summ

I think I want to give million hugs to author right now! I fell so hard for her latest book Beach Read which is still my favorite romance book of last year!

I thought nothing she may write could be better than this lyrical/ dreamy/ feel good- tear jerker love story . But after reading this freaking heartbreaking amazing book I’m taking all back: this book is the best thing I’ve read for so long! And I can honestly say this is is going to be not this year’s best romance read for me but it also wi
Now that’s how it’s done! The perfect Rom-Com! Deserves all the stars!

Poppy and Alex have been friends since University. Every summer they go on their annual summer vacation. Something they both look forward to each year. In the early days, it was on a shoestring budget. But in recent years, they have had the perks provided through her work.

Only two summers ago ‘something’ happened and the two have not spoken until now.

An opportunity has presented itself to bring the two friends back together.

My Favorite Rom-Com of the Year! Cue ALL THE FEELS!

Fun, Light, Refreshing, Witty, and of course Romantic! “People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry has it all.

Poppy and Alex meet in College at Freshman Orientation where it is immediately clear that they have absolutely nothing in common. Going their separate ways, they make it a point not to see each other for the rest of the year. Then the two share a fateful car ride home at th

This is a sort of Harry met Sally but substituting when Poppy met Alex. Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen have been friends for a while and take vacations together. Poppy works for a travel magazine and Alex is a teacher in their home town in Ohio. The story is told in varying holiday timelines from twelve years ago to now.

Having loved Beach Read I eagerly anticipated this one. However, although I like it, it doesn’t resonate as much as the previous book. The characters are very diffe
This is a long drawn out friends to lovers rom-com from Emily Henry featuring Poppy and Alex, both from the small town of Linfield in Ohio, who meet for the first time at the University of Chicago, initially not taking to each other at all. Poppy and Alex are polar opposites when it comes to personalities, with Poppy the outgoing extrovert and Alex, the more reserved introvert. The two find themselves becoming friends despite their different backgrounds, a friendship cemented each year with thei ...more

Now we all know that friends to lovers is the superior trope, but I raise you, friends to lovers to acquaintances that circle all the way back to friends to lovers again. In this sensational sophomore novel to Emily Henry’s debut Beach Read, two former best friends attempt to reconcile a past incident that ruined their decade long friendship. Despite the fact that they have completely different personalities, both Poppy and Henry have been best friends since college. Every year, the two

    ...Nope, not yet.

...Okay, I'm ready to talk about this book now.

As a professional writer and editor, sometimes I come across someone in The Craft™ whose work I read and just go, "Holy shit, I'll never write as well as this as long as I live or as hard as I try." Emily Henry's just one of those people for me. I'm in awe of the way she puts sentences together and can make them simultaneously hilarious and meaningful. I love how she bu

I believe in Emily Henry supremacy

Alex and Poppy are best friends who couldn’t be more different and regardless of where they are in their lives each summer has cemented time together with their annual summer trip or at least it had because after an incident on one said trip, Poppy and Alex haven’t spoken in two years. When Poppy attempts to consider the last time in her life she was truly happy all she can th

Wow. I'm so in love with this book.
I knew Emily Henry had written something special when I came across Beach Read almost a year ago. It then turned out to be for so many one of the best romances of 2020. I can now say that You and Me on Vacation (Or People Your Meet on Vacation -US Title) will probably have the same success. This is the ultimate friends to lovers romance. But, true to her style it's a lot more than that. There's something special about her writing and how her characters feel so

My favorite romance I've read in a while. It's phenomenally written, I loved the main characters (both as a couple and individually), and tagging along on Poppy and Alex's vacations was almost as good as a real vacation. I cannot wait until this book comes out in May so I can force all my book loving friends to read it too. Seriously, such a freaking delight. ...more

Thank you to Berkley, NetGalley and Emily Henry for the free review copy (further disclaimer: the author & I are represented by the same literary agency)—in no way does this influence my opinion; all thoughts are my own!

This book was wonderfully complex, real and three-dimensional. Emily has a gift for writing people whose lives and layers are so deeply, tenderly accessible, and PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION was no exception. PWMOV was funny, perfectly-paced, and achingly good. If you love Normal P

Friends-to-lovers is not often a trope I enjoy as I usually find it unrealistic that feelings and attraction suddenly develop between two people who've known each other for so long. And then Emily Henry goes and proves me wrong! Alex and Poppy are MADE for each other, but there is some serious denial at work, keeping them apart for years and years and years.

The "then" and "now" dual timelines is a risky writing technique, as readers inevitably care about one timeline more than the other. But, i

I am sitting here in awe. It's official; from now on, when someone asks me for a friends-to-lovers romance recommendation, THIS will be the book I recommend.

    What I adored:
    * The dialogue - I can't remember the last time I laughed so much during a book. Talk about witty banter. Definite When Harry Met Sally vibes with the snappy and sometimes snarky humor. Poppy is witty and spunky and doesn

My favorite part of this romance is the dialogue—the funny banter between Alex and Poppy makes it easy to see how these long-time friends belong together despite their many differences.

Poppy and Alex met at the University of Chicago. They’re both from the same small town in Ohio, though they went to different high schools and had completely different experiences growing up. Alex’s mother died when he was young and his ultra-religious father withdrew from life, leaving Alex to raise his younger b

there's so many good lines filled with raw emotion that i'm overwhelmed thinking about about them. i love that we got to see poppy and alex throughout the years.

    People We Meet on Vacation.....

Ok... Alex and Poppy. Poppy GAHHH.. I absolutely LOVED her... she made me laugh so much. She has this incredibly wit and sassy personality and it's incredibly perfect to the reserved Alex. I loved Alex just as much in different ways but the banter between the two back and forth is pure genius... really it is.

People We Meet on Vacation is told from Poppy's POV and it bounces from present day to past yearly vacations that she took with her best friend Alex twelve y

Okay, I didn’t know Emily Henry (I might have been living in a cave), and I doubted if I still liked rom-coms. After finishing this book, I can wholeheartedly say: YES, yes, yes, I still do! This is a perfect example of how a rom-com should be written! A perfect love story and I adored it!

I fell for the cover; it’s fluffy and sweet, just like the story. But this book is so much more. It’s like a blanket that warms you up in the winter when you’re curled up in it and never want to get out, or l ...more
