Oh how I love this series – seeing what we had in the first several books and now getting to know Derek even more. There’s so much depth to him since we know that he’s got the brains of his father and the compassion of his mother. He’s now also got Emerson who’s able to show him the lighter side of things, and hopefully break through his walls.

Trust. that’s what this story takes a big focus on, and in gaining that trust, Emerson’s able to gain access to the heart and soul of Derek. At the same time, Derek’s able to truly begin to enjoy things that he’s accomplished and become the man that he was destined to be. Throughout this sixth installment, we watch the evolution from boss/employee to friends and perhaps to something more.

We have always known that there was an attraction between these two even if they didn’t truly even admit it to themselves. We watched how their friendship becomes integral to who they are and necessary in order to survive. They bring out the best in each other, and at times when Derek takes that for granted, or when Emerson pushes too hard, we see what that means and how it shapes their relationship.

Derek has this fear and refusal of all media/press/interviews because he’s too traumatized by the failure of the rocket explosion all those years ago and he carries the guilt. Even though it wasn’t his fault and even though he tried everything in his power to keep the launch from happening, he still carries that on his soul, and it’s Emerson who forces Derek to address it, to see a therapist and to even do a TED talk, and we see that it has such a positive impact on Derek that we can only hope for better things.

If you’ll remember, the one thing that brought these two together initially was the book that Derek was due to write. Well, we have seen so much progress up until now, watching Emerson redirect his mind so that he could focus on the story that it’s no surprise that he was able to finish the story in just a matter of months. What comes of their relationship from here is anyone’s guess knowing that there was a foundation with this necessary goal in mind.

There’s also the underlying story from Emerson’s side that we start to see play out which is teased in the summary above. We know that she takes care of her parents – and we know that part of the reason that she took the job in the first place working for Derek was the money that she could make – knowing that it would help afford surgery for her father, and a separate apartment for her parents to live in so she could have space. What we didn’t know is that part of the need for space was because Emerson has a daughter. YUP – a daughter.

You can imagine the shock that comes to readers on this since we didn’t have any hint of that at all, but knowing that there’s something growing between her and Derek, and knowing that he’s opposed to children, there’s nothing good that will come of this. When we see them make progress as somethign more, and then he learns of her daughter – well, the story drops out from under us.

We can only hope for the best and hope that Derek and Emerson can have what Cleo and Deacon have, but we also know that there’s so much against them. Not only is there the notion of the daughter, we also can’t forget that Derek is still not over what happened with his ex-fiance and that continues to come up again and again. We even see it in the last chapter when Derek’s best friend tells him that he’s getting married, and that his ex and the man she cheated on him with will be at the wedding. There’s bound to be confrontation, heart break, soul wrenching experiences and hopefully a bit of passion to take us through to the next installment. I can’t wait.

The thing I equal parts complain and like about this series is how plain it is.

There are no flashing lights, tours, obnoxious interviews or the likes. It's almost like a look at how the silent billionaires live. Because there are many in this world that we will never know about because they are no Jeff Bezos.

This book progresses like all in the series. Emerson and Derek take their relationship to the next level and with it we finally have some rated R content that's not in a Google doc. I was falling asleep during the more extensive sex scene - no fault of the author - but I really don't read this book for the sex.

I might also be wrong about Fleur. But let's see. Either I am wrong or the author had a typo describing Derek and Fleur's relationship in the beginning.

We get to see and learn more about Emerson when she isn't ensuring that mould isn't eating Derek alive. It's good to see her interact with her family, especially Lizzie.

There is a craft to the web weaved in this novel because Lizzie and Derek share a core issue which I think I could see them bonding over in this novel. There is also a certain level of realism in this instalment. At this point, Emerson, Derek and his parents are probably the only persons rooting for them. Thing is, the noise doesn't even penetrate the well-developed shell that surrounds them and us as the reader.

I miss Derek's paranoid musings but I love to see him grow and share as he adjusts to Emerson in his life. He is way softer on the edges than Deacon.

If any question I would ask at this point, it would be where is uncle Tucker?

I cannot wait for the wedding!!!

Wow , Ryan and Camille 's wedding is going to be a day to remember. I cannot wait. Kevin have the nerve to want to patch things up with Derek, after sleeping with Derek's fiance Tabitha, and he finding out at their engagement party. Oh this wedding is going to be LIT💥🔥💥😮!!!! Emerson and Derek together reminds me of Derek's parents Deacon and Cleo. So many similarities. Derek being a genius like his Dad. And Emerson being Derek's assistant and dressing the same way as Cleo, the same way Cleo was to Deacon. I like the relationship between Derek and Emerson. I cannot wait for Mozzie and Derek to finally meet. I have a feeling that they're going to get along just fine. I still can't believe that little give year old Derek grew up to such a gorgeous man like his dad Deacon!

I love how the author developed Derek and Emerson's relationship. They actually get to know each other (though it is more of Emerson knowing Derek) and don't just jump into a physical relationship. With secrets revealed and tensions rising all around, this book was very hard to put down (but work demanded that I actually work). The cliffhanger at the end of the book revealed that the next book is going to be an intense roller coaster ride for Derek and Emerson - I cannot wait to read it.

As with all of Victoria Quinn's books - don't bother reading the reviews, just grab the first book of a series and be absorbed in its pages ( the Lingerie series is still my favorite though it is a bit dark)..

Another fantastic addition to the series!!! Full with unexpected surprise that I didn't see coming. The story also has tons of emotion and drama to keep you hook from beginning to end. Also we get to follow the journey of two broken people learning to trust and be open to love. Hopefully we'll continue to see more growth from both Emerson and Derek. Can't wait to see what else is in store for this series. As always my review are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

This book doesn’t disappoint!! It’s full of surprises and emotions from both Derek and Emerson! I love both of them and how they handle situations thrown at them! Emerson is a take no crap kinda girl and when put in a situation that she doesn’t like she does what she need to and moves on! Proud of her independence! I seriously can’t wait for the next book to see how Kevin and Camilla’s wedding pans out! Derek and Emerson hopefully can make it through without tearing them apart! Victoria Quinn this book was amazing!!

I am in love with this series! This is book six and just when I thought it couldn't be better Ms. Quinn did it! She definetly knows how to invoke emotions and feelings. She is a master at putting in twists that catch you off guard and then you will be like how could I miss that? This is a must read book! You will be so engrossed in the book that you forget how long you have been reading! I loved seeing Dereck and Emerson's relationship continue to evolve. I love that we can see the worst and the best of both of them. I can not wait for the next book! It is going to be epic!

Finally Derek and Emerson come together and express their feelings for each other. Derek finds out that Emerson has a daughter and he doesn't like or want children. After intense conversations, Derek is willing to try with Lizzie when Emerson says the time is right. Unfortunately, Derek has yet to disclose to Emerson his past relationship that has made him the way that he is. Still more issues for Derek and Emerson to conquer before they can get their happily ever after. Can't wait for the next book!

I loved this author and first 4 books but was extremely frustrated with the "boy" series. I get broken soul and all that but in 4 book there is about 4 chapters of happiness in this entire series. I know you need angst and heartbreak. But 4 books of grief I got through just wondering what I read and why the writer hated these characters so much. Seriously it has about an hour of happiness. I felt washed out and drained. I am not going to even bother with the last books which is a shame I adored the first 4 books.

Lizzie should have been introduced in the first book. At least Emerson should have thought about her daughter, but all we got was that she took care of her parents. Not mentioning Lizzie to Cleo was weird because she already had the job and she and Cleo were friends, so hiding it didn't make sense.

The continuity in Derek's story was unbelievable, too. Derek was such a fan of animals as a kid and he never hurt them, so why would he eat ants and let his friends eat them on a dare? That doesn't sound like the Derek we were introduced to.

Derek is such a complex man just like his dad Deacon, it’s almost like he needs Emerson to simply communicate, she brings out the best in him and sets part of him free which would otherwise be covered away. Lizzie will bring out even more of his personality and make him more socially competent if he has a relationship with her, I think she’s the key to making him feel whole, she’ll make him smile.

I loved this book. Derek and Emerson’s relationship was getting somewhere until Derek discovered that Emerson was keeping a big part of her life from him. Of course, if you’ve read the other books in this series, you will know that Derek is keeping big parts of his life from her too.
I loved seeing Derek opening himself up to more and dealing with his own issues from the past. It’s also brilliant to catch up with Deacon and Cleo too. Absolutely brilliant series.

I love how this book is progressing. Derek fought through his feelings and slowly let his walls come down. I like how Emerson did not throw her self at him. She stepped away, and for a very, very, good reason, until Derek came to his senses. When these two finally give each other themselves, it is combustible! The next book is going to be something else with people from Derek’s past emerging and Derek learning how to open his heart up even more. Can’t wait!!

Finally! It was torture waiting for this installment. I wanted to know what would happen with Derek and Emmy. Would either finally make a move or will they just be two ships passing in the night? You could feel the chemistry radiating off the pages. But you would find me yelling at my screen every time a move wasn’t made. But this book definitely made me fall more in love with these characters. A very well written book that I just couldn’t put down.

Derek needs to either love all Emerson has to offer or leave her alone. He can't love part of her and not the rest. Emerson does have a life outside of what she has with Derek. Eventually he will have no choice but to choose ALL OR NOTHING! But I hoping he chooses ALL! But we will just have to wait and see when the next book comes out! Hopefully, Victoria won't make us wait too long! Love her books so much. Just wish I could buy them all...lol.

I’ve read all the books up to this point. But honestly, these stories could have been condensed. I’ve spent a small fortune on these books, and I’ll probably never read them again.

I love the continuous storyline. However, I’m really starting to get a headache reading through Derek’s story. As much as I love his character , right about now, I hate him. Im vested now and need to see where this is going but once Derek’s story is done, so am I.

Oh I loved this book, I couldn’t put the book down and had to read it in one sitting.
Oh my Derek he really has some trust issues and the way he treated poor Emerson, but then you can understand though.
These 2 are really like magnets, I can’t wait for the next installment.
This is a definite read this series.

This is Derek and Emersons story! The growing attraction, Emerson fighting it and Derek recognizing it is something to behold. Derek (with a little help from his dad) realizing Emerson is the one for him, then struggles with how to make her see it too is fantastic! The upcoming wedding between Ryan and Camille is going to be epic! Can't wait for the next book!

Still loving this entire series. This book ends on a little bit of cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what's going to transpire in the final installment. I really love the strength of Emerson. The romance she and Derek have is sweet and honest. Even though I wanted to bash Derek in the head a couple times - he won me over in the end.

Ahhh, love all Victoria Quinn books this is no exception. This book has Derek and Emerson getting to know each other and a slow build to relationship if Derek can bond with her daughter. He found out about her by accident. Love these two together and can't hardly wait for the next book in the series

Bring on #7

Loved getting into Derek's story. The sparks and tension between Derek and Emerson make the story but it's the glimpses into the connection with Deacon & Cleo that bring the story around. Thank you for your time, talent and THE STORIES!
