America watches with a growing anxiety as one-by-one the countries of Asia and the European Federation begin to fall. Old grudges now look petty in the face of the walking plague of alien beings hell bent on extermination.
It might be the end of all unless new alliances can form and Hold the Line.
J.Z. Foster is an Urban Fantasy / Horror writer originally from Ohio. He spent several years in South Korea where he met and married his wife and together they opened an English school.
Now a first time father, he’s returned to the states - and his hometown roots.
He received the writing bug from his mother, NYTimes best selling author, Lori Foster.
DR South Japanese pursue the retreating soviets that are double timing to Moskau. Alice, Moller and Morat continue moving Westwards. John Winters starts to takes his sudden presidency seriously.
The author, J.Z.Foster, continues to illuminate the inside working of circus of horrors that is the soviet union in "Reality Bleed". This time through Katya Andrev. Same as Sokolova's story in "Wold at War". Utter lack of introspection and humanity molds one's mind to the delusional axiomatic doublethink of constant victim hood mentality while simultaneously performing inhumane acts on/abusing anyone weaker. Orcs truly are incapable of critical thinking.
Sergei Garen, standing grand martial, is the main character of "Hold the Line". Another man of duty and honor, for what it's worth from a red. "Tough decisions would have to be made. So was the way of war." "Those things and those places are not our people. They are not our culture. We are. We have a duty - to survive. [...] If we survive - our people survive, our language and our history survive. If we act as fools now there will be no [...] tomorrow." A man wasted on upholding diseased corpse of oppressive regime.
While a bit on the nose, much appreciated the comparison of propaganda broadcasting radio station in east Germany to Felicity station. Makes one think how many such places exist where few (un)lucky survivors are surviving through the horror akin to what took place in books 1 -4 in Mars Felicity station. Alice has ever more been designated as the spearhead of humanity against cronux.
Conclusion: 4/5. Listened on Audible bought for 1 credit. Narrated by: Tom Taylorson. Audible sells Reality Bleed: Season 2 (book 5 - 8), for one credit, the length of the book and the quality of the story, an amazing purchase. "Hold the Line" covers widest geographical area in the series, yet. Chapter 2 - Jade archon's arrival in Beijing. Scarred archon has been poisoned both in all manner of physical means and by the individuality of humanity. Scarred being jealous of Jade, what with Beijing being denser populated and higher population. Different gray cardinals on human side are not to be outdone. What a way to introduce chairman Zhao. Rolls is a bastard, but he is also a patriot. "Having just one Alice Winters might not be enough." Beijing popped. A gate destroyed. Chapter 7, last gate's location revealed - Iran. Terrible value for the length of the book - 1.67 $/hour ( 9.60 $ / 05 hrs 45 mins ).
This series has so much to offer. The best part is that there are pieces of real history woven into the story. The interesting twist is that all this history is not occurring chronologically but in the same time continuum all over the world. The decision making based on these “historical” world changing moments that HAVE occurred transports the reader to a surreal environment. In the story, the reader has a picture painted of power player decisions that were made and the world would never know why. Ohhhh the secrets! I had to stop and think several times about what is real and what is abstract. You can’t catch your breath, you can’t stop reading, and you can’t stop the feeling that you don’t want to know what is next. You just keep barreling straight ahead to that very large CLIFFfffff.
It wasn’t people created a Gate on Mars but we find 3 have been created on Earth itself. The alien hordes come to obliterate humanity and Alice Winters learns she has an ability that can turn the tide of this war. Will one person be enough?
Great addition to the series. Action from page one. Highly recommend it.
I tore through this book. Even after seven books, I'm amazed at how well each storyline flows. Miles is my fave, though Endo is right up there with him. There's a lot of creativity and a ton of action to keep things rolling. Can't wait to see what Mr. Foster pulls out next!
I am loving this series, it has me so hooked. I am looking forward to reading book 8. The character development and interaction combined with all the action and mayhem has made this one great series.
Another epic read! This one was fast paced and the added characters were interesting. The ending left me SO EXCITED to see what’s to come! I can’t wait for the next book!
Frankly, I thought that this book would be a nice setup foreshadowing the finale. It isn't and that's a good thing. While I felt the previous book had too much going on, this one had too little for what I've come to expect of this series. Nevertheless, it felt good to be back in familiar company. Eagerly waiting for the grand showdown !
4.5 stars. Again, I liked the beginning of the series a bit better than the rest. I don’t know if it’s because it’s just fighting the weird monster creatures that is getting repetitive or something else. I would still highly recommend the series for sci-fi, other planet readers.
