Seduce her forever crush? Epic fail!

The sexy rancher is clearly not interested in long-term. In fact, he's not interested, period. But Emma is determined to change his mind until his cousin, Gabe Buchanan, puts a definite crimp in her perfect plans.

Gabe has come to help his cousin with work around the ranch while struggling to unravel his next book plot. The last thing he expected to find was literary inspiration in the curvaceous cowgirl pining over his cousin. Determined to prove he is the right match for her, he devises a plan to win Emma's heart.

As much as Emma wants her childhood crush to finally take notice, she can't help but be intrigued by the sizzling hot and funny Gabe. When he asks her out, she can't say no. Besides, it's just a friendly dinner. No big deal. Yet when the lines between casual and interested blur, neither can deny the chemistry between them.

Can Gabe fill every box on Emma's checklist and give her what she needs the most? His heart and a future together?

Granite Junction is a spin-off from the Redemption Ranch series, with some of your favorite characters returning and making guest appearances, while others find their happy ever afters!

Saddle Up - this is one trail ride you do not want to miss!

Gabe you sexy denim wearing pen wielding oaf so quick to believe the worst what are we going to do with you (besides tie you up and keep you close...)
Emma you dear sweet sentimentalist come back down to earth and enjoy the corporeal pleasures that are laying at your feet that you keep stepping over!!!

I have to admit in the beginning Emma's pre-written life plan had me a bit irked. Where were the adults to wrangle this child in? She was missing out on life! On possibilities! UGH someone take the reigns from her!
Gabe needed to clear out his current writer's block and he knew going home would just drive him to the edge of sanity so cousin Cam's it was. Gabe is the type who uses humor to bypass emotions (those pesky things) IMO he knew what he wanted and had an idea of what he didn't want but it turns out most of it might have been what he thought he needed... Yeah you get it
The back and forth between these two was comical and at times tragic.
What began as diversions with secondary plots for both parties ended up delivering a whole lot more

The question now is can Emma see past her bullet-pointed plan for the future to what is at her doorstep?
Can Gabe see past those pesky feelings of inadequacy he keeps buried and rope in the woman who holds his heart?

I really enjoyed reading this book and seeing the characters of Redemption Ranch make multiple appearances. It was like catching up with old friends!

Gabe Buchanan comes to Granite Junction to visit his cousin Cam. Gabe's family runs a successful ranch and guest ranch and they want him to help run it with his other siblings. That isn't Gabe's thing. He has written a series of mystery novels based on one character, a sheriff, to solve various murders. Gabe's family sees he writing as more of a hobby than a career. His novels have taken off and he has a contract for another series. The only problem, Gabe is now suffering from writer's block. He decides visiting Cam and a change of scenery will help ease the writer's block. He stops at the local diner before going to Cam's ranch and meets a sassy waitress, Emma. Gabe is highly attracted to Emma but she is in love with his cousin.

The story was so well written and flowed beautifully. I adored the dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the character's thoughts really help me to identify with them so much better.

This is a sexy story. The author really doesn't go into graphic details but I would only recommend this to someone over the age of 18.

I was hooked from the very beginning. Gabe is a famous writer, but has gotten writer’s block” and feels he needs a change of environment. So he goes to stay with his grumpy cousin, Cam Miller, to get his inspirational juices flowing. Cam is in the process of selling his ranch to move to Wyoming but Gabe offers to help him with ranching chores while he’s there. Emma has lived in Granite Junction all her life and has a major crush on Cam. She has plans for the two of them even though Cam has never given her any indication he feels anything for her. They have been friends since she was little, he Considers her a Friend. When a Gabe meets Emma, he uses his charm on her, gets her to dance with him and even go out to dinner. Soon the attraction between them grows, but Emma know Gabe is only here for a short time then he will be gone, too. A very well written storyline and wonderful characters. I loved Gabe and felt for him in dealing with his family, especially his dads opinion of his writing as a “hobby”. Emotional read with trust issues, insecurities, feelings of being second best, plus hot chemistry for Gabe and Emma. I loved it, and look forward to more in this new series. I sure Cam has a good story!

I took to a Gabe right away! He may look all fun and flirty on the surface...which is very charming...but you could just feel that their was a serious side underneath that wanted to be understood.
Emma was her own worst enemy! I understand not wanting to give up the dream of being with Cam, but the handwriting was clearly on the wall, girl! Get a clue and walk away already. I felt bad for her, but I was also frustrated by her. I wanted her to give Gabe a real chance and not use him once feelings became more real.
Still, I really enjoyed their relationship and their banter. I kept putting the book down, only to pick it up 5 minutes later, because I didn’t want to read it too quickly and miss any nuances to their pairing. Megan Ryder did a great job of keeping the reader entertained and empathetic to each character...even though I wanted to smack Cam numerous times!
The Wrong Cowboy was definitely the right story to start this new series!

Emma is definitely not the brightest crayon in the box. In fact, at times she seems as dumb as a box of rocks. She can't see what's right in front of her face for years- friendship with Cam! Dah!! It takes over half the book for Emma to get a clue!! Pretty, but dumb! I thought Gabe's parents and family (mostly dad) were selfish, ignorant, and devalued his work as an author. They tried to shame and intimidate him out of his chosen career and actions. I wanted to like Emma more, but she seemed too shallow, selfish, and blind for way too long. It's hard to back an oblivious person!!!!

Great first book in a new series. A lot of familiar characters appear in this story, making it seem like a continuation of the Redemption Ranch series, but it can be read and followed without reading the RR series. The main characters have their charm and issues that will capture you from the very beginning right up to the HEA.

Emma was so hung up on her crush on Cam that she closed herself off to the possibility of finding love and happiness with someone else. She agrees to have a fling with Gabe who is only supposed to be in Granite Junction temporarily. Despite their growing feelings for each other, jealousy and misconceptions drive a wedge between them. I wanted to shake them both at times for hiding their feelings and not talking about it to each other. But I guess that added to the drama of the story. Gabe was so funny with his prized Charger and the ornery horse Cam gave him to ride. Emma was very giving in the way she looked after Cam and his sister, the MacGregors, and tried to do something nice for Gabe with the book signing but she also had trouble seeing the truth about her fantasies about Cam. Her friends and brother Nathan were a riot and added a lot of lighthearted moments to this steamy romance.

Emma has her heart and her head set on the belief that she and Cam are meant to be more than friends and the only obstacle standing in her way is convincing him. Everything that she has done and said to attract his attention have been unsuccessful, so desperate times call for desperate measures even if that means dating his cousin Gabe to show him what he is missing out on.

Gabe needs some inspiration to get his creative juices flowing so he decides to stay at the ranch with his cousin and hopefully that will happen. From their first meeting he was attracted to Emma but convincing her that they belong together may be the biggest challenge of all.

Both Emma and Gabe have their insecurities, so their journey wasn’t without its mishaps but once they open their hearts and lives to each other there is no denying that they make a perfect pair.

What a great, romantic story. I was never quite sure how the story was going to end for Gabe and Emma. It was funny to see how organized Emma was. She had her life all planned out with goals. The only problem was she had The Wrong Cowboy in her plans and nothing and no one was able to get her to realize that Cam did not share her feelings. I also enjoyed how Emma's brother, Nathan looked out for her and treated her. It made me laugh at times.

Gabe was a sexy, cowboy who does not want to work on his parent's ranch. He is a writer of mysteries but unfortunately he has writer's block until he met his muse in Emma. His character and his charm put a smile on my face. I really enjoyed the banter between them. Behind all of Gabe's charm is a man wanting to be accepted for himself and writer that he was.

I am so glad this is the first book in the series because that means I will have more books in this series to look forward to reading. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

The Wrong Cowboy is Megan Ryder’s first story in the new Granite Junction series and pulls readers in with its multi-faceted storyline and interesting and complex characters. I started out dubious about Emma’s character and her refusal to admit that Cam just wasn’t interested, and then her initial thoughts that he may be her weapon to make Cam jealous. Circumstances change, and Emma realises that Gabe may be what she is ultimately looking for, and things certainly change from there. Gabe is just adorable; determined, gorgeous and genuinely nice, he’s struggling with writer’s block and never wanted to work the family ranch, yet he has still returned home and is helping out while dealing with his personal disappointments. This story is emotionally charged with angst, laughter and a heartfelt message. A great start to a new series that I’m sure will have readers wanting the next exciting story.

Emma and Gabe’s love story in The Wrong Cowboy by Megan Ryder, book one in her Granite Junction series, is a tale of learning to make lemonade from lemons, especially when plans go awry. Emma has been in love with Cam Miller since she was a young girl. Cam was her brother’s friend who became her friend too. Only Cam didn’t feel the same way that Emma did; she was a little sister to him. Since Emma had accomplished her all of her other goals, she figured she needed a better plan to change Cam’s mind. The she finds his cousin Gabe staying at the ranch. Gabe Buchanan has writer’s block and hoped that working with his cousin around the ranch he could figure out his next book. Watching the beautiful Emma, as she mooned over Cam, Gabe wanted to prove he was the right man for her and begins to devise a plan to win Emma’s heart. Little did Gabe realize he would find not only literary inspiration but also a creative muse living in this town. Despite wanting her childhood crush to notice that she’s more than a little sister, Emma was becoming fascinated by the handsome and funny Gabe. As the two spend time together, the line between friends and wanting more gets blurred, as their chemistry and magnetism builds.

I loved this story. I’ve been waiting for Emma’s story since I met her in the Redemption Ranch series and was not disappointed with the different path Ms. Ryder took her on. Cam might be all Emma thought she wanted but she needed to realize that he was truly her second brother. Gabe challenges Emma, admires her for her kind, passionate heart, and love for her town. Emma makes Gabe rethink his love for the city and his place in his family. They are two puzzle pieces, fitting perfectly together; her yin to his yang.

Ms. Ryder wrote a wonderful and heartwarming story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Emma and Gabe a chance for love well as a future together. I highly recommend The Wrong Cowboy to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this book so much, that now I find myself at a loss for words. Previously, I had fallen in love with the Redemption Ranch series. So I was fairly certain, before I even cracked this book open, that these would be some new favorite characters. And I wasn’t wrong. Gabe is a charming rascal. But that mask hides the complex and vulnerable man desperate to be seen as “worthy” by the people he loves. Emma’s a little tougher for me to wrap up so simply. The easiest might be to say that she is, perhaps, the living embodiment of that old saying about the gods laughing at mortals who make plans, because nothing in her love life is going according to plan. I fell in love with these characters almost immediately. They drew sparks from one another from the moment we first see them together and that carried through the whole book. Through angst and humor, tension and sweetness, this book occasionally left me wondering if we’d ever get to see a happy ever after for this pair. As much as they embraced it, they fought it too. The only thing I wish I could change would be Gabe’s willingness to take the blame for things that weren’t all his to ‘own’. It took a lot of people to create the situation we read about in this book, and some of them deserve their own share of the fault. In any case, I’m anxiously waiting to see who’ll be the next to get paired up in Granite Junction.

Gabrielle Buchanan always felt the odd one out in his family, his older brother and his two younger siblings had all secured jobs that kept their large family ranch running. Gabe's father couldn't understand why Gabe didn't want to work on the ranch alongside his siblings, Gabe was a published author, but as far as his father was concerned, this was just a hobby.
Having a dry spell as far as his writing was concerned Gabe needed to find a place away from home to find his mojo.
Cam, Gabe's cousin, had been running his fathers ranch in the small town of Granite Junction since his fathers death, could Gabe find inspiration there ?
Emma and Cam were best friends but Emma had been in love with Cam for as long as she could remember, despite her attempts at seduction Cam had always treated her like a younger sister.
Gabe fell in love with Emma but was he to be the odd one out and second best again ?
Could Gabe get Emma to forget Cam, if not would he be able to walk away.
This is a lovely story from Megan Ryder, it is passionate and emotional, it has lovely characters and great banter between Emma and Gabe. I now want to know Cam's story.

The Wrong Cowboy: Great story! I loved all the surprises, suspense, and challenges throughout. I liked that Gabe was a writer who had writer's block. I like that could be a true story as far as that goes because it happens with writers in general. I like that he was attracted to Emma but she had feelings for his Cousin. It was a very emotional story. It's sad how Gabe's family treated him because he didn't want to be part of the family ranch. It's good that he came back to the area where he grew up. Even though he has reconnected with his cousin he is still hurt by his family. Cam is letting him state at his ranch to help with his writers block but he has to help on the ranch. Emma feels like Gabe is too much of a city boy and has no interest in him until she uses him to make someone jealous. That is kind of an evil thing to do. It was a great story and an interesting romance. Fantastic writing.

This was a really good book to read the story flows nicely. Gabe Buchanan comes to Granite Junction to help his cousin Cam on his ranch. He needs some inspiration for his next book series and a break from his family. He meets Emma working at the diner and is instantly attracted to her, the only problem is she is head over heels for his cousin Cam.

Emma helps out at the diner when she is not teaching at the school, she is ready to settle down and is hoping that Cam will finally see her as more than a friend she has loved him for years. When Gabe come in the picture she thinks this is the perfect opportunity to make Cam jealous. What she does not realize is that she finds herself attracted to Gabe more than she thought.

Will Emma realize that Cam does not see her as more than a friend? Will Gabe be the one that helps Emma move on?

This is the first book I have read by Megan. I really enjoyed it. Emma has had a crush on Cam but then his cousin comes to town. At first, she can’t stand him. Then when she hears that her crush has plans to move away. She has the idea that maybe she can make him jealous. She will agree to go out with Gabe. Will it work or will her carefully structed life be turned upside down by falling for Gabe? Emma has her whole life planned out. She may have just pictured the wrong man as the leading man. Gabe is an amazing man. He has his own things to work through though. Emma and Gabe agree to have a fun fling while he is in town. Could feelings become involved and how will they make it work if they do? This book is a really sweet read. It has some heat but not much. The characters in this book as wonderful. I look forward to reading more about them. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I will be looking at Megan’s other books as well.

I liked this book and though it was a solid start to this new series. The story pulls you in with a combo of cute, emotional and heartfelt. I enjoyed the duality of the characters desires in this book. I think just about everyone can relate to having feelings for someone that just aren't going anywhere and/or being into someone who is into someone else. These things are simply very relatable. Gabe I liked so much! His knowledge of what he wanted and his determination to work to get it was sweet and swoon worthy. Emma I liked and I truly felt for her but I also wished she had a bit more backbone. I felt that her dogged resistance to "seeing the writing on the wall" too often turned her into her own worst enemy. Regardless, I found this book very enjoyable and am eager to read more of this series. This is my forthright review that I am posting of my own accord.

We’ve all done it. We concentrate so hard on a idea & our plan to achieve it that we become narrow minded. We strive to keep what’s familiar & comfortable instead of reaching for the new & exciting. Megan Ryder has written an enjoyable story about a woman that has lived this. Due to the loss of her father, she holds on tight to anything familiar & is not about to lose anything. She’s marched through life checking off items on her life plan with one specific goal in mind & no one is going to take it away from her now that she’s ready. Until sexy, brooding Gabe steps into her path. Gabe is used to being second choice. In his family, he feels like he’s actually fourth choice. No one gives him or his job any credit. His father treats it as a hobby instead of a career. When he met Emma, he was determined to shake up her life. It was only supposed to be temporary. Can they find a way to survive together? Both Gabe & Emma need to open their eyes & see what’s in front of them instead of keeping their blinders on. I really enjoyed this story & the characters that make it so wonderful to read.

This the first book of the Granite Junction series by Megan Ryder.
Emma has a plan and nothing will stand in her way to make this plan a reality. Well that is unless the other party (Cam Miller) has no idea and does not feel the same way.

In walks Gabe who has come to help out his cousin Cam and hopefully break his writers block. He likes Emma and will do what it takes to hopefully win her heart or at least a date. Can he do it????

If you were a fan of the Redemption Ranch series or a new reader you are in for a treat. This book will not disappoint. It is definitely a must read. 😊

Emma, Gabe & Cam

Emma had wanted Cam for years. He kept them as friends. When, Gabe, his cousin showed up he was more than attracted to her. She was fair game, Cam said she was just a friend. When she ignored his charm it just enticed him more. Could he get her to give up her crush and give him a chance?

She thought that maybe Gabe might help her get Cam's attention but would her plans blow up and her feelings for Gabe change?

I liked the overall story. I did feel the back and forth feelings were a bit overdone. I did feel sorry for Emma even though she did bring much of her pain on herself. The author used a different occupation for the hero which I liked a lot.

If this is a taste of things to come in Granite Junction, I can’t wait for more. I found Gabe’s character particularly well written; he is nuanced, his worries make sense, and even his spurt of jealousy is logical, given the circumstances. Emma – I was less of a fan here, but that may have been the author’s purpose! Her conflicted emotions are really well portrayed, but she makes some questionable decisions. I loved the introduction to Granite Junction and Gabe and his family, and to the characters that make up Emma’s friends. Oh – and please will someone smack Cam for me?

An unexpected romance can happen when you least expect it. Emma has spent her life pinning away for a man that will only see her as a little sister.
When his single cousin comes to town, she uses the opportunity to try and make him jealous. Only it backfires when she finds herself both attracted and annoyed to the newcomer.
Gabe is instantly drawn to Emma, but frustrated that she's infatuated with his cousin and won't give him the time of day.
This was a great slow burn that definitely starts as enemies to friends over time. Gabe is a book boyfriend that can sweep me off my feet anytime!

This is book 1 of a new series and based on this book, I think this will be a good series. Granite Junction is a spin-off from the Redemption Ranch series. A few people from that series made an appearance in this series. This series is a stand alone from the previous series, but I liked that one a lot so I recommend reading it as well.

Written as a 3rd person, multi pov with a HFN Ending that will lead to a HEA I am sure. Great characters, good story line, easy to visualize detailed descriptions and engaging dialogue.

Would I recommend this book? Yes

Gabe and Emma’s first meeting revolves around his blatant flirting and her total rejection of his efforts. After all, her heart and her future plans centre around Gabe’s cousin Cam, and an old friend of her family. Although he grew up on a ranch, Gabe’s passion is his writing, not working on the family ranch like his parents and family want him to do. He has come to Granite Junction to stay with his cousin and work on another book, as well as help around the ranch. The beautiful and feisty Emma could well be an unexpected bonus if she were not so hung up on his cousin. Emma, a school counsellor and sometimes waitress, is beyond hurt to learn that Cam is selling his ranch and leaving town. She decides to make a last ditch attempt to capture his heart by sparking his jealousy while she dates someone else....and Gabe is that someone else. At first he is more than willing to use his charm and flirting skills to spend some time with the beautiful and feisty spitfire named Emma, at least for the few months he will be in town. Then most unexpectedly, he finds himself jealous of Emma’s feelings for his cousin, and he starts to feel that once again he is not enough for someone important to him. He redoubles his efforts to make Emma want to be with him instead of his cousin, and they soon indulge in stolen kisses, then very passionate encounters. Gabe finds himself being warned by her family and friends not to hurt Emma, but he becomes aware that he is in a position to get hurt too. Though everyone else can see the sparks and raw emotion between them, neither will admit it to themselves, let alone each other. Hurt feelings, jealousy and emotional blunders put them at odds with each other and sends Gabe fleeing town, leaving them both heartbroken. This story does have it’s happily ever after, but you will need to read the book to see how Gabe and Emma achieve it.

I loved the strong, vibrant characters in this book. Charming, sweet-talking Gabe with his unexpected hidden insecurities and vulnerability, who had the strength to forge his own path despite family expectations. Beautiful, resilient and warm-hearted Emma who uses organization and planning as a tool to overcome her own insecurities and control issues. Two people who unexpectedly find love and have to fight to keep it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Wrong Cowboy is book one in the Granite Junction series by Megan Ryder. This book seems to be an extension of The Redemption Ranch series, but could absolutely be read as a stand-alone.

In Redemption Ranch we met Emma and Cam. It seemed like they were destined to be together. Emma finished college, got a job – everything was going according to her meticulously planned life. That is until Cam’s cousin Gabe Buchanan comes to town. Gabe is in town to work on his next novel.

Emma is bound and determined that her life is supposed to have Cam in it, just one problem – Cam only sees her as a little sister. When Gabe comes to town and finds out that Cam just doesn’t see Emma the way he does, he decides to make his move. But Emma isn’t having any of it. But slowly and surely Gabe inches his way into her life. Once Emma realizes that Cam isn’t interested she devises a plan to make him jealous, with his own cousin.

Her pride takes a hit when she realizes that Cam isn’t jealous at all. At the encouragement of her girlfriends she decides to have fun with Gabe while he is here. Stepping out of her comfort zone, her relationship with Gabe begins to grown.

Emma is a straight shooter. She knows what she wants out of life and she has lists and planners to prove it. But when Cam doesn’t reciprocate the feelings she has for him, she is quite hurt and torn. Can she find happiness with someone else other than Cam? Could it be Cam’s cousin?

Gabe is one of those flirty, fun loving cowboys. While he has turned his back on the family ranch – he has made his own way in the world as an author. Despite what his family thinks, he is succeeding. But Gabe gets in his own way when it comes to Emma. He sees things that aren’t there. He knows that Emma has been in love with Cam for quite some time, is there even a chance that she will even consider a Relationship with him?

I loved that we still got to see characters from the Redemption Ranch series here. It was like homecoming. There is a lot of love in these families and I was so excited that the stories crossed over. I can’t wait to see who Cam ends up with – he deserves some love! And ohhhhh the new owner of Cam’s ranch? What is that going to bring? Can’t wait to find out.!

Cam is ready to sell the ranch and leave Granite Junction. Emma's been in love with him forever. He's not interested in her in that way, but his cousin, Gabe, is. He thinks they can have a great time together, for the short time that he'll be in town. And she figures that she can have a little fun, and make Cam jealous in the process. It's just a summer fling; not like anybody's gonna fall in love. I love Gabe. He's a serious guy with some really hot bad boy undertones. It's easy to see how attracted they are to each other. I love Emma, too, and so does everyone in town. One of their big problems is that she plans her life to death, and he flies by the seat of his pants. I love seeing the characters from Redemption Ranch, and am so pleased that Emma finds her happy ending.
