For some reason, despite not particularly liking cake as a food, I like looking at pictures of beautiful cakes in books or watching a video of someone demonstrating how to make a seven layer caramel cake that I have no intention of ever attempting to make. I loved the cover of this book and decided to give it a go. It was lovely -- I'd never heard of Bernadette Gee before this, but she seems tobe very popular and I can see why. The cakes are beautiful. I can't comment on the effectiveness of the recipes due to the reasons listed above, but I enjoyed reading them. I do think I will try making the Spiced Caramel though -- what seems to be a type of caramel sauce, with two options, either salted or spiced. Despite being a fan of most caramel things, I wasn't aware spiced caramel was a thing.

For the most part though this was a book I read just to admire another persons baking skills, without the stress of trying to replicate them myself!

An In-depth Look About Cake Decorating

This book shows you not just the finished product but what goes into getting there. She breaks it down from coming up with an idea, and a step by step guide on how to get there. There are pictures that go with the step by step instructions so you can visualize your progress. Not just an instructive book but entertaining one.
