Oh my goodness...if this wasn't the absolute sweetest, most genuine, most PERFECT YA Fantasy book I have ever read! And it was a M/M Romance to top it off?

Raiden and Egan were amazing characters. Raiden was the prince of the Sixth Realm. He was kind, compassionate, empathetic, honest...I mean, I could keep going with positive descriptions lol And Egan? That dragon shifter stole my heart just like he stole Raiden's. Watching their friendship blossom into young love was absolutely beautiful. I ser

Great YA book! Love that it’s Lgbtq affirming! The mix of a sweet romance, kings, queens, princes, and dragons is written just right. I’m a huge fan of this book and can’t wait to read book two! In the meantime I’ll just read this one again to catch what I missed the first time!

Acceptance seemed to be a beautiful theme that exuded from this book and not just in one area. Acceptance from your station/status level in life, acceptance by who and what you truly, even if you’re a prince or a creature, and acceptance of the heart! Family, that would normally being who they were would have shunned the idea of the notion but instead there was love and acceptance, as it should be! I do want to know more of our dragon and his family lineage so I will be reading book two! Thank y ...more

Oh wow!

What a beautiful book. It’s rare to see a YA book that features a LBGTQ+ romance and it’s exceptionally rare to see one done this well. Raiden and Egan were just too perfectly matched.

Bravo! Can’t wait to read more!

ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.
Not caring that we were surrounded by a large crowd, I pulled him in close and kissed him deeply, pouring my entire soul into him. We broke apart, but part of my soul stayed with him. It belonged to him now.

4.5 stars!

This was exactly the easy and sweet fantasy story I needed to read at the moment. The romance between Raiden and Egan was so sugar-sweet in the best possible way. They are both weighed down by expectations and secrets and both were unknowingly searching for someone to help with

This book absolutely captured my heart from the first chapter!
The prologue alone had me hooked, but then the story started and I was in love. I could have devoured this book in a single day, but had to pace myself so that it wouldn't be over so soon!
Raiden and Egan stole my heart, of course. Their connection was a genuine and accepting one, and it was a much needed breath of fresh air in this genre. This book is definitely one that many people need in their lives, and I absolutely cannot wait fo

I really liked this book. Every chapter dig deeper into the world the author created. I love how everything tied together and how much love was shared between the characters. The cover is also stunning. It really draws people’s eyes. Especially people who pick books based off covers. I would definitely read more books from this author.

Of Heart and Wings is the first book in a new series/trilogy about a young prince and the boy he falls in love with, and I am SO HERE for it!

Raiden is a young prince who is next in line to rule after his father. The story starts with quite the punch - Raiden's father is injured, and it forces Raiden to step up sooner than he thought he would need to in order to keep his people safe and calm.

Egan looks like a normal boy - he lives a normal commoner type of life, his step-father is a blacksmith,

This book was so, so sweet and I enjoyed it reading so much. It gave me all the fluffy feelings and I just immersed in the story. I couldn't put it down and read it in one go.

Raiden&Egan's story was really lovely. I love this kind of stories when you see the falling in love part from the very beginning, when they don't know about their feelings, they just want to be friends and spend all the time together. Two cute young boy. And the added bonus, a dragon shifter. It was so so good!

This is the fluffiest fluff I've read in a long time, and I'm so happy it exists. We need more fluff, especially QUEER fluff, and add a supportive father and DRAGONS and you get Of Heart and Wings by Debbie McQueen.

Raiden and Egan are the cutest, most awkward guys ever and I love them both to death. They immediately like each other so much, and the affection and care they have for each other warms my jaded heart. BUT it doesn't feel like insta-love, which is my pet peeve. They just feel drawn t

This is a YA fantasy romance that features a young prince and the dragon shifter he befriends. It is the beginning of a series and introduces the legends and traditions of this land. Raiden is a sweet young man, and beloved by his subjects. His growing relationship with Egan is picture-perfect YA fantasy. Neither boy really knew they were into men, but the moments of emotional intimacy, for the first time sharing secrets of their lives with another, quickly enlighte
There is so much that I loved about this YA story. OF HEART AND WINGS is the first book in the "Dragon King" series and my only complaint would be that the next story isn't published yet.

Here are my top 5 reasons for my 5 star rating...

1. All inclusive with no shaming
2. Clean MM
3. Multiple worlds that have so much potential
4. There is a mystery that has layers to unfold
5. Of course- the dragon

I enjoyed the visual storytelling, the world building is spot on, and this is a book I would definitel

What can I say about this book except that I love everything about it. The characters are just so sweet and lovable that you can't help but love them and root for them. The acceptance of these characters and their love for each other by others in the book is refreshing and lovely to see. I also really liked how the author made Egan's dragon female to incorporate a transgender aspect into the story. It's not something that you see very often in books and it was an interesting take on it. Having h ...more

I would like to start this review off by saying that I'm still learning about all the different genders and sexuality and realizing that there's a lot I do not know. If I might say something that comes off as offensive, it's only because I didn't know... not because I'm ignorant. So feel free to contact me after you've read the review and educate me. Like this morning Debbie taught me that I'm a cisgender - it basically means someone whose gender matches what they were assigned at birth. (When t ...more

This book is a great add to anyone YA Fantasy collection. This book has one of the sweetest love stories in it that I've read in a long time. The ultimate theme of trust, acceptance and support will speech to anyone who reads this novel. One of my biggest problems in the YA fantasy section is proper representation. Everyone wants and should see themselves as the hero in a novel. Where "typical" YA novels have LGBTQ relationships in them, they are never the main storyline, more given the writing ...more

I absolutely LOVED this book.

I did not expect to become so infatuated with the characters, and yet here I am. It is somewhat an insta-love, but oddly enough that just worked with this one; the two main boys have been so alone their whole lives it arguably makes sense for them to fall HARD when they fall. I definitely adored this one mostly because of the characters- they are simply just so adorable and wholesome. Wholesome being the perfect word to describe this entire book to be honest. It

By the stars!

I’ll start this review by stating that I love shifter novels, I love dragons, and now: I love Debbie McQueen!!

The love story told between Raiden and Egan is written so beautifully that my heart is fit to burst now I’ve finished reading this book. I was literally sat smiling like a loon page after page!
But this book is more than just a story of love.
The world in which our heroes live is built richly and with such attention to detail, and I’m left desperate for the second book!

I think the one word that came to mind most readily of all was: heartfelt. I can think of many other words to describe what this story was, but heartfelt is perhaps the most powerful and the most true. The heart of this story is the growing relationship between Raiden and Egan, two young men from every different walks of life who find one another in the most incredible of ways. What unfolds from that fateful encounter will change their lives, in ways that neither of them fully grasp at first.

Fantastic YA M/M fantasy romance.
This book was a great start to a new series, it has everything you could want from the genre.
The relationship between Raiden and Egan is so sweet and the way they protect each other is so endearing.
Even the side characters really add to the story and I found myself caring about certain individuals when they found themselves in danger.
With the addition of dragons, conspiracy and a prince fighting for his kingdom, this is one of the best books I've read in quite a

After a rocky start, I must admit that I did end up enjoying this. It was cute and fluffy and the protagonists were both very sweet.

It does need a hard pass by a professional copyeditor, one well versed in fiction editing and formatting for dialogue. The many punctuation and verb tense errors constantly threw me out of the story, impacting my enjoyment. If I'm editing as I read, there's a problem. The world-building could've also used some work. The characters speak with an old-fashioned dialogu

This was actually a really sweet coming of age story with first time loves. Egan and Raider are absolutely adorable together. What starts off as two boys from different stations in life becoming unlikely friends turns into those same two boys having real feelings for one another for the first time in their lives. At the age of 17 Raider has spent most of his life training for when he will take on the crown from his father. As the crowned prince, he has duties to his people to be strong and repre ...more

The story has enchanted me, it has a good development in the plot of it, Egan is a dragon shiffer in a world where they were believed to be extinct. Raiden is a prince who knows the weight that he must carry for his kingdom and is committed to what has happened to him in life.

The characters love each other, mostly Raiden narrates but Egan has the pov's of him at certain times and he is so beautiful.

The story is a youthful plot, where both boys learn to trust each other and know that they can sha

This book got off to a slow start for me. There was a lot of world building information at the beginning, which normally I don’t mind. It’s just that I found my eyes crossing a few times, and had to read parts over again. I wish it could’ve been given throughout the beginning of the story, instead of all at once. Once it got to the actual story, it was less of a struggle to read.

This was a sweet story of a prince and a dragon. I liked how their relationship developed, and that the wor

The relationship between Raiden and Egan was the most tender, sweetest thing I've ever read. And you know what the best part of all of this was? The fact that the LGBTQ+ relationship was treated like any other relationship. It didn't define the characters, it wasn't something they had to overcome, it just was. There was no negative reactions from anyone, it was just

I absolutely loved this story! It is a wonderful and sweet fantasy, populated by characters with heart and gentility, and with a unique concept for dragons. I loved the way Raiden's father made time for him when he wanted to speak to him, even amidst war preparations. All the characters (except King Tarjak and Tarrock) are just super-endearing.
