Midsummer Fling

Rate this book
Penny dreams of a peaceful solo vacation, but she arrives at the lakeside cabin of her childhood to find out the owners have doubled booked, leaving her rudderless at the height of tourist season. When she discovers who snatched her single-bed cabin, it seems that fate has stepped in and booked her a one-way trip to a happily-ever-after.

Josh wants nothing more than to spend two weeks fishing, ship watching and gazing at campfires. To his chagrin, the resort owners double booked his reservation with that of an oddly familiar woman he refuses to leave out in the rough waters without a raft. When destiny -- and the age-old problem of two people/one bed -- takes the wheel, Josh quickly realizes it's time to reach for his dreams with his fated-forever shipmate.

Midsummer Fling is a quick and easy second chance romance. Josh and Penny met as children. They shared their first kiss and for a time were pen pals. Penny never forgot him and memories of their summer toy come back to her when she decides to return to the resort where they met. Josh too has fond memories of his summer - memories involving fishing! All that changes when he sees Penny again. Forced to share a one bedroom cabin, Penny and a Josh try and fail to fight the grow attraction between them. They succumb to it wholeheartedly and get their sexy, sweet happily ever after. TBR and Enjoy.

This book is funny and serious. Clean and dirty.
A total contradiction in its plot.
Penny and Joshua new each other fifteen years ago, her first crush, first kiss, first pen pal. Joshua being three years older drifted away, like the ships he is so fond of
But now fate has given them a chance to have a real relationship. The cabin they've rented? Well apparently the resort owners can't agree on their bookings methods, and double booked the two.
NO worries. Over a few days Joshua and Penny have funny, angry time, jealousy time, embarrassed time, naughty time, education time, share secrets time. Campfires, cargo ships, PB&J'S. And a happy ending.

The wonderful stories told by Abby Knox always put a smile on my face and offer a perfect little escape from reality, and Midsummer Fling absolutely ticks all of those boxes and more!
From the start, I adore the nostalgia that is woven into the story, drawing the reader in, wanting to experience those same sensations!
Penny and Josh are TOO CUTE for words! She's feisty and bubbly, he's Mr. Forearms and a teddy bear. The awkwardness between them is endearing, and continued to put a bright smile on my face as I hungrily devoured every single moment between them, and their internal monologue to boot!
This is a short and sweet story about a couple, their story filled with memories, hopes, a few misunderstandings that need to be cleared up, and dreams for what the future will hold! Why don't you check it out, and fall in love with them too?

This is a love story not only between the main characters but also from the author to summer. This is the perfect example of a story I want to read on a hot day, or when I am on the beach enjoying vacation. The story is sweet and romantic, caring and full of sugar. I loved the way these two main characters came together and their love for each other was undeniable. I felt their attraction and love and it was a pleasure to follow them to their HEA. A Midsummer Fling is just the right amount of love and steam for a nice relaxing read. Such fun!

If you are looking for a sweet, low-angst story, then Midsummer Fling is the perfect choice. I could easily picture Penny and Josh as kids at the little lakeside cabins. And I think the reason this little romance works so well is that they had a prior connection. Josh is hot and nerdy. Penny is sweet and fun. Even though each has different interests, they enjoy each other. They make the most delightful couple! Don't worry, this novella has its steamy moments, too. What a fun read! 4 stars

From First Kiss to Last

What an adorable childhood friends to lovers story! It was so adorable!

An accidental double-booking ends up with Penny & Joshua reconnecting after 15 years. She remembers him and all the details, he needs a bit of a memory jogging but catches up quick.

I loved the humor that Abby twined into this story, any time I can laugh with my romance it's a total win!

Josh & Penny...

Penny takes a vacation to a camping resort. She is on a budget and when she searched for some place to go the same camp that she used to go with her family came up. She figured it was a sign and it also brings back memories of the boy she met their and her very first kiss.
Josh is ready for his two-week vacation at the camping resort. He wants to rest, relax, and do some fishing. A schedule issue has Josh offering to share his cabin with Penny.
These two can't help but feel that they are familiar to one another.

I love how fate brought these two together at several turns. These two were amazing together and their heat definitely set the pages on fire. I look forward to reading more from the author!

No character or relationship development. Awful. They are just suddenly in love. I like instalove, but when it happens, I need it to be OTT. Not lazy. I didn’t see their love at all. I’m just done with this author. Matched for Me and Doctor Dave were so good, but lately I haven’t enjoyed any.

Penny unable to join her roommates in Costa Rica decides on a vacation closer to home. She books online a cabin at a resort she has been going to since she was a kid. Josh lucks out agents the last cabin at a resort he use to vacation at as a kid. When he arrives the owners Matthew & Gretchen, from Off Season Stud are arguing about booking methods, they each booked the cabin to Josh and Penny. When Penny arrives she sees what’s going on and decides she can share the cabin with Josh. There is something very familiar about the big guy standing in the lobby. Josh agrees too and they head off to their cabin. When he’s walking ahead of her she sees him do a very familiar motion and realizes she was right, he is familiar because he’s Josh her vacation friend, her pen pal and her first kiss. Josh unfortunately does not remember her, but he feels drawn to her and finds her very attractive and sexy. She finally tells him how she knows him and the two start to get to know each other again. Josh is a gentleman and lets Penny set the pace, thankfully Penny is just as into Josh and they have their first sexy time in the car. Then back at their cabin where they both tell each other all about everything with their lives and profess their love. Epilogue one year later with them getting married at the resort.

The story was cute, funny and heartfelt. Penny is going to release her mother’s ashes at Mackinac Island, her mother and her loved the movie filmed on the island at the Grand Hotel. Josh scoffs at the movie but admits to seeing it and joins Penny and enjoys himself, helps her with the aftermath of releasing her mother’s ashes. He’s so sweet to her, they are both so kind to each other.

Midsummer Fling is just the cutest thing! I adore Abby Knox, she is a guaranteed fun and funny read. Penny is on a budget but she needs to take a vacation even if it is just a car ride away. When the camping resort that her family used to go to when she was a kid pops up on a search, she sees it as a sign and books it. She has such fond memories of the boy she spent time with back then and the kiss, her first, that he gave her. Josh has been looking forward to his vacation, two weeks at the camping resort filled with fishing and solitude. When they both arrive, a scheduling mishap leads Josh to offer to share his cabin with the gorgeous Penny. There is something familiar about her... This was definitely an example of serendipity. Watching them reconnect and fall in love was just dreamy. Loved it!
