Miriam Chaikin was born in Jerusalem and raised in New York. She served as editor-in-chief of children s books in various publishing houses and has published over thirty books for children of all ages. In 1984 she won the Sydney Taylor Award for Body of Work.

A Nightmare in History, that it was. The Holocaust. I liked this book because of the first chapter in and of itself. It explains what a Jew is. Why they were hated so much. This chapter alone makes a person think about hatred and the role of the church in history. Lots of good vocab in this book too. Some words are explained that I had not heard before. Nice book.

How can I rate this book? It does such a good job covering the Nazi horrors in short, overview-like chapters, that I can't rate such history positively. Yet the book itself is certainly a 5-star work.

It's an excellent book for a quick read on the holocaust that still delivers the punch-in-the-gut of the Nazi horror.
