There is more to being free than removing a chain…

Allie has served her sentence and been released from servitude, but she disappears into the London crowd. Jared is frantic to find the woman he loves, and when he does, the spark of life is missing from her eyes.

Meanwhile…Eloise and Zeb are called upon by Drina to use all their skills to save her future reign. Duncan encounters an unusual assassin who laughs often and makes his stomach churn. Jared must work with a rival to bring down the Consortium.

The friends must pull together, each using their own skills, to find the missing piece of Allie’s soul before she is lost to them forever.

An excellent read

I enjoy reading this series because of the depth of each of the characters. This series should be a movie.

I love this author's books! I read another of her series, and thought when this one started that I couldn't love new characters more than I adored the characters in the first series. Well, I still love those characters and that series (The Artifact Hunters, if you're interested - and you should be if you like paranormal fiction!) a lot, but this new set of books drew me in, especially with this final book (or is it? hard to tell from the ending) and how Allie's story was wrapped up.

I love strong female characters, and this author writes them beautifully! Because in addition to their strength, they have foibles, and weaknesses, and they sometimes make bad decisions, like real people do, so these characters feel real, and they are relatable because they are complex and lovely!

The storyline in this book drove me crazy with the back-and-forth waiting to find out how everything was going to end, but it was exciting and suspenseful with plenty of twists and turns. I loved every minute of reading this book!

Loved it!

Loved it. Actually, I love the series. Following Allie , Jared & friends through all the trials and tribulations. Difficult, yet with friends to help.and support Allie -- there is a wonderful moral to the.story, but I won't tell you. You'll have to.read.it.for.yourself.

I really hope there is more, still plenty of questions left unanswered, but the answers in this book, oh stars, that was a trip and a half!
