Read this alongside my main favorite series as that book was heavy and I was reading it in tandem. Noting for context.
This book has been sticking to the quality we've come to expect with the Opus X series. Bumped my usual rating to 4 stars as you can really feel the characters and their depictions hitting their stride.
More attacks upon the UTC , more mistakes made when the core thinks they know what to expect from our protagonists. We also gain insight to some of those called insurrectionists within the confines of this universe. (Insurrectionists in this remind me a bit of those within the halo universe)
If you enjoyed the earlier books, you'll like this one BUT do not start with this one
(my reviews tend to be 3star (read once, recommend when you need a good.time killer, 4star recommend in general, 5star will read over and over for life)

And intriguing series and plot line, unfortunately the characters are not very dynamic.
I enjoyed the world this book is placed in. I find unfortunately that the characters the two main protagonist are not very dynamic or interesting. They just don’t have any pizzazz or nothing that really makes you want to root for them. Julia the main villain has more personality and spark than Eric or Gia. The technology has not advanced in the series such as Eric‘s arm just a piece of cybernetic metal, doesn’t do anything special. No upgrade for the smart lenses or Eric‘s weapons. And his personality really hasn’t grown any. Such a shame the series had a lot of potential, the only reason I am continuing to read it is because I like to finish the series that I started. I give it a four because the story is very intriguing. You may enjoy it I wish more people would have read it.

Good Read
Erik and Jia get to play with their new toys. They seem to be more comfortable in their relationship as they begin to see a future together after defeating the Core. Interludes with Jia's family and friends are always good for a chuckle. I like the action, humor and romance. I look forward to the next book.

Love, Hate; Hate, Love the Series
Hate the series because whenever a new story comes out I can't think of or do anything else except read the the next page.
Love the series for exactly the same reason.

Maybe getting burnt out on this formula. I am ready to get to the big battle with the dark bad guys they have been chasing for 10 books. All the battles are a bit too easy and the heroes always come out barely scratched.

Space opera with an evil villain.
A blood bath of a rescue but with the stakes as going nuclear hanging in the balance is exciting enough for or heroes. Going on to the next adventure.

Action all the way
Another gripping story from the master, Michael Anderle. Erik and Jia are getting closer to the architects of the Molino tragedy. Will it be close enough?

I was not ready for this to happen. You are a great author. This was a sad disappointment. I call this filler. I will finish the series. Still chose a great narrator.
