After winning a Young Author’s Award in second grade, Emily Silver was destined to be a writer. She loves writing strong heroines and the swoony men who fall for them.
A lover of all things romance, Emily started writing books set in her favorite places around the world. As an avid traveler, she’s been to all seven continents and sailed around the globe.
When she’s not writing, Emily can be found sipping cocktails on her porch, reading all the romance she can get her hands on and planning her next big adventure!

This book is basically a love letter to the penguins of Antarctica and I loved every second of it! Reid & Bea’s story is so beautiful in how natural it was for them to get together. I’ve previously read book 2 in the series so it was fun getting to see the gang’s origin story!
Love in the Antarctic follows Beatrix (Bea) on a journey to see penguins, get out of her comfort zone, and ultimately find what will truly make her happy in life. I found it so easy to connect with Bea and her struggle to be less stagnant. When she meets Reid on a once in a lifetime trip to Antarctica, he pushes her in ways that she’s never experienced, ultimately forcing her to face a question she has been struggling with: What changes can I make that will truly make me happy with my life?
Emily Silver paints such a vivid picture of being aboard a cruise liner in Antarctica that I felt like I was in the frigid temperatures viewing wildlife right alongside her characters! With quippy side characters, a steamy “vacation fling,” and an inner battle for our main character that will pull at your heartstrings, “Love in the Antarctic” definitely kept me turning the pages!
Cute, low-angst love story. Amazing setting. I received a copy of this book as an ARC, and this is my honest review. The minute I saw this cover, I knew I wanted to read this book: snow, romance and an exotic location? Easy sell. Bea is instantly likeable, in part because her anxiety and dislike of change are pretty relateable. I think this quote from the book sums her up perfectly, "My mind feels like the Drake, thoughts crashing in so fast it's hart to keep up with them." And Reid is exactly the kind of mysterious, sexy stranger you want your heroine to fall in love with on her voyage to the south pole. Although we didn't get to see a lot of what made him tick because the book is in Bea's POV, he was very swoonworthy. While the prose was, at times, a little clunky and the descriptions occasionally long, for the most part Love in the Antarctic was an easy and enjoyable read. The supporting cast: Reagan, Barb and Ab, were amazing and hilarious and are by far my favorites, but I also am in love with the crew of the M/V Antarctic. Overall a definite must-read for fans of wintery or vacation romances.
Amazing debut for Emily Silver! At times it did seem like it got some what wordy with descriptions but that is something that I am finding is common in debut novels. This is still easily a page turning story between watching Bea find out what makes her happy, a vacation fling, a once in a lifetime vacation itself and all the side characters you will be enjoying the story no matter what!
This debut novel was a sweet trip to the bottom of the world. Beatrix is unhappy... with her job and her normal life. She decides to take a once in a lifetime trip to Antarctica... not knowing that it would be the experience she needed to get her groove back. While in transit she comes across a mystery man... twice! Once she gets on the ship she meets Ab, Barb and Reid. Turns out Reid is her mystery man. The next two weeks are the best of her life. Now she just has to make the hardest decision of her life... take a risk or stay in her mediocre world.
What I loved about this book is the details from the trip. There were times that I felt like I was on this journey with Bea. I wanted to know more about Reid. We only learned about him on the surface but not what made him tick. He seems like there is so much more which is shown during the more intimate parts.
I loved this book so much! Beatrix gets a chance to go in her dream vacation to Antarctica and to see penguins in the wild. Along her journey to get to her cruise, she keeps bumping into a handsome man who end up also being in the ship. Reid is the perfect compliment to Bea in every way. abs, her bunk mate, and Barb, another guest on the cruise provide the perfect combination of humor, good natured teasing, and support to encourage Bea to follow her heart throughout the story. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
Love in the Antarctic by Emily Silver was such a unique, steamy, and fun romance. I loved the whole idea of this book. Until I read this book, I actually had no idea you could even visit Antarctica as a tourist. I loved Beatrix and Reid's one of a kind love story from start to finish.
Bea has never been much of a risk taker, but she has always been a dreamer. Stuck in a crappy job, she stumbles upon an amazing opportunity to take her dream vacation to Antarctica. Her meet cute with Reid is kismet and definitely meant to be. Bea makes several memorable friends upon her vacation, and I loved all the added details about Antarctica.
Overall, I really loved this romance. If you love romance and you love to travel, then you will love this book!
Love in the Anarctica is a page turner and I was immediately drawn into this story. It is gripping, beautifully written and the chemistry between the characters sizzled throughout this wonderful read. This book is the perfect stress reliever to everyday life. Talk about a magnificent vacation! I am adding Antarctica to my bucket list and I think Emily needs to be my tour guide! 🤣 I was given an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.
First of all, amazing story!! This book makes me want to follow all my dreams and passions!!!
I definitely want to take a visit to Antarctica! It sounds so amazing and I am so glad that the author gives us such vivid descriptions and lays out what an Antarctic trip can really be like.
I NEED TO GET MY PASSPORT OUT NOW!!! GODDAMN YOU COVID!!!!!
Thank you for this whimsicle story. It was easy to get caught up in the story and fall in love with the characters. I read this in one day. I couldn't put it down!
I absolutely adored this novel! Love in the Antarctic has stirred up my wanderlust obsession, and I’m itching to travel again. Beatrix is such a unique and quirky character. Her honesty and charismatic nature were infections. Emily Silver did an excellent job with this novel, and I can’t wait to read Ab’s story next!
Super fun, low angst, and relatable. I loved reading about Bea's vacation of a lifetime. I hate to say that I related heavily to her apt for falling and hurting herself, but here we are. This book was a super cute, steamy, bite sized nugget of joy. Bea's excitement jumps off the page and I swear you'll be excited right along with her. Also prepare to add Antarctica to your traveling bucket list because Emily describes the adventure so incredibly you'll want to experience it first hand.
3.5 stars A little wordy at times with some long descriptions of situations. But felt like an original story. A great way to start, for a debut novel. Loved the friendships created during a once in a lifetime adventure. Low angst between the hero and heroine. Complete story and in KU
It was weirdly about penguins and a vacay hook up. Bea was a little too quirky for my taste. I didn't feel the chemistry between Bea and Reid. One minute they're looking at penguins and the next minute they're all over each other. The side characters had no dimension either.
From the second I saw the cover I knew I had to read Love in Antarctica and it didn’t let me down. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the characters and start dreaming about taking a cruise to Antarctica. Can’t wait for Emily’s next book!
This is my first book by Emily. I’m finding lately I am enjoying the traveling books. The places are very descriptive as I’ll look up photos of the mentions and it’s very accurate.
When are you working a job you don’t love with a boss who makes your day tough, it’s time to go on a much needed vacation. Antartica was the top place she wanted to visit. With a push from her friend and mom she booked it. As she’s exploring the spots before her a starting cruise she keeps meeting the same pair of eyes. As luck would have it he is joining her on the cruise. She also lucks out with an awesome roommate. She expected to see penguins and enjoy this trip of a lifetime. She didn’t expect to actually meet someone and change her life and finally be happy.
As I started out reading the book, I found myself relating to Bea. I've been in her shoes before. I hated my job and I felt stuck and I needed to do something. Bea has more guts than me, though. She booked a trip to make her dreams come true, seeing penguins in person. Penguins aren't the only life changing experience she stumbles (quite literally) across. You will enjoy the banter, the steamy scenes and all the descriptive imagery. Buckle up and grab your winter coat, let's go on an adventure. 💙
Give me all the penguins! This is such a fun story filled with adventure, friendship and love.
Bea’s journey to the Antarctic is everything she dreamed it would be and more. From unlikely friends to a sweet and unforgettable romance, it’s light hearted and fun with plenty of steam!
‘I crave this kiss like oxygen.’
This debut novel by Emily Silver is absolutely adorable. You can feel her excitement coming through as she shares her own adventure through Bea’s eyes. There’s genuine awe and affection on every page.
Want to visit Antarctica to see penguins but you’re not a fan of the cold like me? Then read this book! Holy heck, Emily Silver did an AMAZING job. I felt like I was there. The attention to detail is everything when describing somewhere many people won’t ever be able to go.
I loved how Bea makes the decision to book the trip that she’s wanted to go on her whole life. That takes guts, especially since it’s to Antarctica I loved Ab and Barb. Reid was a dreamy guy who loved adventure too and was living his dreams too.
Sure I can't afford (in many ways) a trip to the Antarctic BUT the characters are so relatable and so easy to fall in love with. I recently purchased a sweater after reading this book that summed up my feelings about Beatrix and Reid. The sweater reads non fictional feelings for very fictional characters. Also I want to be Barb when I grown up. This was Emily's debut book and honestly she hit it out of the park. I can't wait to read Ab's Europe story.
This story read like a real life travel journal. I doubt I will ever get to Antarctica so I did enjoy reading about what a tour by ship would include. However the romance portion of the story was underwhelming. The guy love interest was realistic but forgettable. I think this book might have benefited from “he said/she said” dual POV.
Cute story! Made me want to pack my bags and head for Antartica. I love reading travel/ holiday romances they have a brilliant feeling of escapism. Would read more from this author.
I really enjoyed this book. A wonderful adventure and scenery mixed in with a story about finding your happiness and love. Funny, steamy and romantic. Plus I love how Buenos Aires is featured as it is a city I visited and loved.
