Loosening the Ache

I. Love. This. Book! 💛❤💖 It's funny, poignant, steamy, dangerous (for the heart and body), and powerful as it shows the different kinds of "love" in the world. Not all love is created equal, as Steven, Harper, and their friends and family discover.

Right off the bat we get glimpses of the baggage Steven and Harper each carry. I love the immediate chemistry and how they fight that baggage to move forward in their lives, together and individually.

If love is so powerful it'll make you lose your self-respect, then I don't want any part of it. At least, that's what I tell myself.
--Steven Sinclair

When their baggage wasn't dragging them down, I was laughing at the persistence of Harper's friends and family to convince her to relocate to Chicago and the occasional inappropriate joke.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Stefanie Kay and Gregory Salinas. I love both for their respective characters. The only thing that would've made the experience better is duet narration.

The Groomsman Billionaire by Maggie Cole is a love at first sight billionaire romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Stefanie Kay and Gregory Salinas. This is the fifth book in the It's Complicated series and can be read as a stand-alone.

I absolutely love Maggie's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story. I loved the relationship between Steven and Harper. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Secret Mafia Billionaire so I can get Dmitri and Anna's story.

Stefanie and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like billionaire romances, love at first sight romances, contemporary romances or romantic suspense.

These two really were perfect for one another.

Lost in life and down on her luck, Harper traveled with her brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law to Chicago for their wedding. Here she met Stephen, the brother of her soon-to-be sister-in-law, and they hit it off well. Only, Stephen only does serious relationships after how he was raised, and Harper’s not sure if she’s staying in Chicago, as her family, minus her brother, is all in New York. So when everything seems to be going well, of course, something has to happen that seems to draw Stephen away.

Stephen and Harper get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.

There are so many connections here. Stephen is Quinn’s brother, and Harper is Jameson’s sister, and that alone would make many hesitant about a relationship, but they just worked together. I loved that Harper immediately got Stephen’s quirks and worked around them rather than fight them, and he didn’t seem to mind her’s either. It would have been interesting to see what Harper’s other siblings and parents thought of her getting together with Quinn’s brother, just for someone outside the close group to have an opinion.

This story was everything I hoped it would be. Steven and Quinn, the brother and sister bond is everything to them, they’ve had their ups and downs, but have gotten through it all. They’ve both been dealt a crappy hand in the parent department and that has influenced them more than they realize. Steven is smart, a numbers guy and has worked his way to the top, but unfortunately with the help of his “father” the term is being used lightly. Harper had it all, until she didn’t and lost everything, her marriage, money and a life she didn’t know if she wanted anymore. She’s finally hit rock bottom and needs to figure out where to go from here. The best way is to go to Chicago to see her brother Jamieson marry Quinn, the love of his life and enjoy her time there. Little did she know that seeing Steven would make her feel things she hasn’t felt in a long time. Both of them have their own issues and insecurities, Steven is not one for long relationships and Harper doesn’t feel like she’s enough for anyone. The spark and connection between them was combustible. These two are made for each other, they even out each other, Harper seems to know just what to do to calm Steven and vice versa. I loved this book, there’s so much emotion, heartache, love and family, mix in secrets and lies and you’ve got yourself a suspenseful, swoon-worthy read that you won’t be able to put down. So glad that I found this book on BookSprout. Loved it!!

“The trust I have in him allows me to feel every morsel of everything in me”.
We all dream of having such a level of trust with someone in our life.
Having learned/seen the consequences of trusting someone not worthy of the honor has caused both Steven and Harper to be cautious of relationships.
Their instant attraction causes the walls each possesses, and considers unbreakable, to evaporate.
Actions of the two people in a relationship affect much more than just the two people IN the relationship & have the potential to have long-term, generational effects.
Sins of The Father gives us wonderful family dynamics as we see the WHY behind Steven’s words in a previous book when his protective mode was in full force. He is not the ‘mean to just be mean’ we were led to believe. Sibling Love is strong.
Sins of The Father is the fifth book in the Its Complicated series. Each book is a stand alone, HEA. Maggie Cole ROCKS at characters and storylines seamlessly glowing within the series and books.
You DO NOT want to miss this treasure.

It was so nice to get back into the It’s Complicated Series. From reading about Steven in “More than Paper” he was not what I was expecting and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Steven and Harper
won my heart immediately!

Maggie Cole has a way to bring a slow burn love or a immediate love into this place where you can truly find your soulmate! I love how all of these couple find each other and sometimes I wish it were that easy in real life! But it makes you believe it can truly happen for anyone.

Maggie brought it again with this 5th book of the “Its Complicated” Series and I cannot wait until Wrapped in Perfection” comes out next, the 6th book. And it sounds like it is going to be so good.

These books are considered standalone but really you should read them in order because the characters and plot lines blend together!

You don't want to miss this one! Maggie never ceases to amaze me, she outdid it with this one!

We finally get to see why Steven is the way he is. After reading this, I just can’t help but love him. Harper's presence in his life is messing with his routine. I really liked Harper, she is one strong woman. I couldn’t put it down! These two just hooked me in.

This is such a great read!

Maggie Cole continues to do what she does best and that is write a steamy, action-packed page turner! Steven and Harper are the perfect match. I am a hopeless romantic (but low key cynic), yet I was all about their fast-paced love affair! I felt in some ways I really relate to Harper. Despite what some may think, I’d say Steven definitely redeemed himself.

Brilliant Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt!

The Groomsman Billionaire
It's Complicated, Book 5
By: Maggie Cole
Narrated by: Stefanie Kay, Gregory Salinas

I am loving Maggie Cole’s “It’s Complicated” series, each book features different lead characters, and this one is Steven and Harper’s story and it is full of surprises, and for me the biggest one was Steven who was a bit of a pecker head in “Forbidden Billionaire”. While he did somewhat redeem himself in that book but getting to know him in this book changed my perception of him completely and in a very positive way. He is a hardworking workaholic, and he makes a list that brings him unwanted attention, but he just ignores it. He and his sister Quinn are a united front when it comes to their father, aka the sperm donor, and he is trying to make his way into Steven’s life, or rather, he wants Steven in his life. Burned by her cheating ex, Harper lost almost everything, but no one knows how dire her circumstances are and she won’t ask for help, not even from her billionaire brother, Jamison. Harper is in Chicago for Jamison’s wedding and that is how she met Steven, the two hit it off right from the start. Then the newlyweds ask her to watch their daughter while honeymooning but they asked not only her, they asked Steven too. Steven has strong opinions about relationships and he does not do casual, but he seems to break his own rules with Harper. These two were great together and for each other, but she is going back to New York. I loved how everything played out in the book, also loved the complexity of the characters and storylines, besides the romance storyline there is the family drama with Steven and his dad, and a twist that was mind-blowing and well played. The writing and plotting is absolutely amazing in the book and there is plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some thrilling suspense, and steamy romance. Maggie Cole, thank you for another amazing story and an emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Stephanie Kay and Gregory Salinas are the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They do an amazing job portraying these characters, giving each a voice that suits their character’s persona perfectly, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Salinas’ Steven was spot on, he grasped every side of his personality and Kay did the same for Harper and aced in her role. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Their narration enhanced an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

The Groomsman Billionaire
It's Complicated, Book 5
By: Maggie Cole
Narrated by: Stefanie Kay, Gregory Salinas

Maggie Cole is keeping me entertained with her It's Complicated series! This is the 5th book and it features Steven and Harper. We have met them both previously, as I remember, Steven was tough one to like. Trying to keep his sister from becoming involved with Jamison, he has extremely strong values and beliefs. Now he has met Harper, Jamison's sister at a wedding, and those values are being tested! Never before has he felt for as strongly for a woman as he does Harper. Harper has fallen on some bad luck. Her failed marriage has left her broke, and she refuses help. But I love her spirit and drive to find a career she has passion for. Right now though, as she takes care of Jamison and Quinn's daughter, her passion is Steven. The two are hot for each other, but with the possibility of Harper leaving Chicago, just how far will they invest their hearts? And how will their siblings react to this? A little forbidden, some sweet scenes with the baby and a whole lot of passion, these two are destined to be together. I have grown to love Steven in this story. I am so glad we had the chance to really get to know his past, as it really explains his behavior. Harper is a strong woman, and at times frustrated me with her stubbornness. But I love her ambition and passion for figuring out her best life. This is an amazing couple, and getting to see all the others we have gotten to know is just a bonus! This is fantastic ensemble cast of friends, and Cole makes us feel like we are part of it.

Stefanie Kay and Gregory Salinas are our storytellers and they are perfect in their roles. Each finds the essence of their characters, and gives us all the feels through their nuances and inflections. I really enjoyed this performance and love them as a narration team.

Steven is a secluded, successful and is the best at what he does. When he meets Harper, he instantly feels the attraction towards her. But she is his brother in law's sister.

The story continues from the part where Quinn and Jamison are about to be married. The story has a lot of romance and steamy scenes with a lot of drama that is expected from the series. This is the best book out of the series by @maggiecoleauthor. It is more detailed, plot wise and the author also allows the characters to grow as the story progresses, making the readers hooked on to the story. There is constant drama, as there are various complications with both Male and Female Characters' lives that will make the readers go thru a number of emotions while reading. The story is romantic, with some comical scenes and a little dreamy with characters that will tug the hearts of its readers. It is a highly recommended book for readers who like this genre.

Personal Take:
I just couldn't put the book down. I was in a constant state of angst to know what will happen next while reading this book. I did not like Steven in the previous book but this book changed my perspective of the character. Highly awaiting the next installment of the series.

This is the fifth book in the It’s Complicated Series and it is the love story of Steven and Harper.

From the start of the book you can see that Harper has had a rough couple of years, her husband had been cheating on her from the moment they were married and when she found out and confront him about it he stole all of her money. You can see that Harper is a very proud person and finds this type of betrayal hard to jump back from.

Steven has had a different type of life, he has a steady job that has made him one of the top business men under 40 but he has a strained relationship with his mother. We find out from the start that his father is the Governor and that he is being blackmailed into working on his campaign. We also find out that he is working with the Rossi crime family. This starts to tie this series into the Mafia Wars series which is nice.

I really liked how Harper was able to help Steven’s mum by putting them in touch with a lawyer who deals with these types of cases and then the fact that the his mother finally stood up to his father (sperm donor) and taped him telling her what laws he had broken and what laws he made her break and what he wanted to break.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Maggie Cole's books more, she releases this amazingly sexy fifth installment from the It's Complicated series.

Inside these brilliant pages, we dive into the world of numbers where Steven loves to dwell. He's the VP of his company which should set him apart. But he's trying desperately to claw his way out of his "boring" existence, while also fighting against being in the shadow of his shady father.
Harper doesn't know what she wants to do with her life. She just knows being an attorney is not it. While trying to find her calling in life, she meets Steven at his sister's and her brother's wedding. Together, they take on babysitting their niece, while also facing shady dealings with Steven's father who will stop at nothing to further himself ... even if that means bringing down his own family to do it. Through the heartache, Steven and Harper are able to find themselves and fall in love.

If you're ready for a heart-stopping thriller with burning hot romance, look no further! Maggie Cole will always be my one-stop-shop for all things steamy, hot, and thrilling. Pick up this book and be prepared to not put it down.

This is book 5 in the It’s Complicated series. Harper is living in a rundown apartment, slowly spending the last little bit of her retirement money. When she heads to Chicago for her brother Jamisons wedding, she wants to be there for her brother and his soon to be wife, Quinn, and spend time with her niece. She never anticipated meeting the sexy and sin brother of Quinn. When Steven sees Harper, he’s instantly attracted. She isn’t like any woman he’s ever met. But he has rules, he doesn’t want to be like his father. So he tried to stay away from her.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved getting to get a deeper look at Steven. When you meet him in the previous book, you think he’s being totally irrational, and treating Quinn and Jamison unfairly. But after this book; you learn why he is the way he is, and you understand in a way why he did the things he did. And Harper is such a beautiful character. She deals with everything she has, and still wants to give everything to Steven. This book was so wonderfully written, I was hooked from page one. And didn’t want to put it down. It made me laugh, cry, and what can I say about all the steamy bits? Maggie Cole, your books just keep getting better and better. I definitely recommend this book.

Steven might not have scored a lot of points in More Than Paper....but let me tell you he is back to redeem himself! He is the definition of Mr Serious in Public and has been announced as one of Marquis's Top Ten Under Forty Professionals and his life seems to be all put together perfectly....Everything in it's place. Enter Harper, his new Brother In Law's sister.....She is not quite as put together as Steven but she sure knows how to rattle his schedules and structure. Steven knows the sins of his father are what forces his rules...since he almost lost his relationship with his sister over them. However, will Steven be able to stop allowing the sins of his father to dictate his actions and will he go all in with Harper? Or are things happening too fast and will Steven go back to his structured and scheduled life? This book is book 5 in the It's Complicated Series and it is amazing! Harper and Steven make such a fabulous couple.....as always, Thank you Maggie Cole for another out of the park book!

Steven has watched his mother love someone that wasn't fully inlove with her and abandoned him and Quinn when they were young. When that happened Steven never wanted to do what he watched his father do to his mother, so when it came to relationships he tried to be respectful and he took steps because he thought if he did that he wouldn't hurt anyone. But when he met Harper his world and mind changed about relationships.
Harper doesn't know if she is able to find a true love after her cheating ex husband left her with nothing when He took all her money. She comes into town for her brother and Quinns wedding. She agreed to babysit their daughter while they went on their honeymoon and Steven offered to help. Steven and Harper have this insane attraction with each other and once they are with each other watching their niece they decide to see where their relationship can go. This is the fifth installment from it's complicated Maggie Cole brings you a heart-stopping, hot romance, all kinds of emotions and lots of love. I can't wait for more in this series from Maggie Cole!

Every time I read a new book that Maggie Cole wrote, I tend to want to kick my own a** because of just meeting her this past year. She's an author that EVERYONE NEEDS in their lives for real. Harper isn't having an easy time in life after losing everything, so now she finds herself sitting in a bad apartment living off of her savings, and needs to figure out where to go from here. She goes home in order to see her brother get married to the love of his life, Quinn, which is where she comes face to face with Quinn's brother Steven, and boy do they have some chemistry. Steven is a successful man with set in stone rules for dating, so he never dreamed that he would meet a woman who may or may not destroy those rules. So he's iffy on things while she doesn't believe she's good enough for anyone making her iffy, but fate won't be deterred. Steven & Harper are perfect for each other, but will they get out of their own way for a new future?! Hit those one click buttons to see for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Stephen is hansdome, rich, He oozes confidence, dominance, he is private about his life. Internally he is always second guessing his life .
He has a routine and a set of rules he follows religiously.
He doesn't want any complications and a serious relationship would throw him off.
Harper is divorced, insecure, why would her husband cheat? Wasn't she enough for him?
She comes into his life, having fun, getting him out of comfort zone.
But when he breaks his rules, he thinks he is becoming irresponsible and he feels his life is out of control.
Maggie Coles story goes into the minds of two that are insecure about themselves. It's interesting how she incorporates their thoughts and battles they have internally. The story is emotional, with family drama, betrayal, , and steamy. the friends are close knit and are there for each other.
Stephanie Kay and Gregory Salinas narration is very good. I enjoyed lIstening to this story.

Steven has seen what love has done to his mother and doesn't want any part of that. This Chicago businessman has dating rules and is all work and no play. Harper doesn't know if she is worthy of a great love after her cheating husband left with all her money. This NY attorney is adrift with no job and no direction. Her brother is marrying his sister and they agree to babysit their niece together for one week. They both know nothing can come of their insane attraction but as they battle to save his mother from jail , and a friend from an abusive relationship, they surrender to lust and love along the way.
Maggie Cole is the literary master of sweaty pulse-pounding action and a juicy steamy love story! This great cast of characters pulls you into their lives and though lust and love is never simple, you root for true love to win the day!

Book number 5, Sins of the Father, in the It's Complicated series did not disappoint. We pick up at Quinn and Jamison's wedding where Steven and Harper meet. Steven is Quinn's brother and Harper is Jamison's sister. It was love at first sight.

Harper is struggling to find her new normal life after a divorce leaving her broke and quitting her job as she was unhappy being a lawyer. Steven is Mr. Routine with every minute of the day planned out to his schedule. When Steven and Quinn's "sperm donor" comes back and causes problems for their family, they all form a new bond with their mother to get out of the grasps of this high profile man.

This book is full of passion, steam, and HEAT! As Harper says to Steven, "Make me Hot" and he promises her to do so, this book delivers on that promise.

Sins of the Father focuses on Steven, a reclusive billionaire and Harper, a woman who went through a nasty divorce. What they both have in common is a negative view of love and relationships, but they are thrown together, which makes them question their attraction to each other and consider whether this new relationship is worth pursuing. This book provides context into Steven's past, so it gives insight into why he acts the way he does and why he keeps women at arm's length. Harper has been burned, but she is willing to work through her insecurities in hope of finding someone else to make her happy. This book is about accepting the past and the pain you may have gone through, but taking risks and still investing in a new relationship.

This one just went from bad to worse for me.

Steven just had some issues didn’t he. God, I hate those books where they tell each other they love the other in matter of days. He expected her to up root her entire life, after only a matter of days. He’s got some attachment issues
On paper. He’s your dream guy, doesn’t do casual and only relationships. But it’s off putting.

Harper is the worst type of woman I like to read about.
For the sake of her dignity, she should have just swolled new pride and continue to work until she found a different passion. Found her entire character pathetic.
Had a way of making situations about her.
Even the mention of Matt. She lost her virginity. That wasn’t even relevant, nor did it come up.

Dramatic story for Steven and Harper

It’s a beautiful story for both Steven and Harper. They come together at the wedding of Quinn and Jamieson. Bothe the lead characters are struggling. Harper is down on her luck and reeling from a break up. Steven is a financial genius but is so focused on his job that he doesn’t have a personal life. It’s interesting and has twists and turns that you will enjoy. The storyline is better due to the secondary characters. Each couple and story builds for the next one. I started reading these out of order, but I am still enjoying them. Read On!

We have rules for a reason. They are there to protect us and those we love. Sometimes we get so focused on the rules that we forget to live. Which is why we all need a Harper in our lives. To break us out of our shells and feel again. And some people need a Steven in their lives. To bring order to the chaos. And to see the wrongs that need to be righted. The two together? A perfect case of opposites attract to make the perfect couple.

Fans fell in love with the It’s Complicated series, so what does Maggie Cole do? She gives us another amazing tale of love, sex, family, sex, corruption... and sex! I absolutely love Steven and Harper as a couple. Their chemistry is electric, and I wanted to stay in their world longer. This author has a gift for weaving real life tragedy into the lives of her characters, who are then able to rise above the conflict and become stronger for it. Beauty for ashes is a theme in all Maggie Cole stories, and I love it!

Sins of the Father took me to a whole new world of intrigue & devotion. Steven & Harper are the epitome of Insta Love! Steven’s addiction to Harper is so convincing that it made me want to squeeze him with tons of hugs. I loved watching both of them come into their own self assured being. They fix each each other in ways they didn’t know they needed.
