I loved the first book in the series and would definitely give it 5 stars. This book has the same great characters and I love reading about Sallie and her life in Pretty Beach but I think this story was badly edited. I had to go back a few times thinking I had missed something. Doesn't have the flow of the first book. I will be reading the rest of the series though. Hope they aren't the same.
Enterprising Sallie expands her business in this second story of the series set in Pretty Beach, an idyllic place to live where the people show their care in practical ways. Sallie has risen to the challenge yet again and is constantly looking for ways to increase her income and her independence. She is now in a relationship with Ben Chalmers, the handsome pilot who lives next door. Yummy character. A fun read with lots of home improvement tips for those interested... A well written, easy to read, lovable series by Kat Cantrell.
I have to say that I love this series and have even been dreaming about Pretty Beach! I certainly wish I lived there. The characters are very real, I have lovely friends but would love to add the Pretty Beach residents to my friends. I love 'the pretty beach way' how everyone helps each other out. These books have been like reading and catching up with my family. Excellent!
I read this as a follow on from the first one in the series. I liked this book, but not as much as the first one. I feel like the romance is very overshadowed by the ‘secret’. So it’s hard to root for the couple and beleaguered be in the romance as you question the relationship. Yet, this is a main part of what the book is based on.
This might not make sense, I realise. But I don’t want to give any spoilers.
I will read the next in the series and see how I go.
I enjoyed this book but as the second in the series, some things are beginning to be annoying. Why the main characters need to have their surnames included most of the time is unnecessary. There are several major holes in the story too, a plot builds and then disappears which is odd. Overall though, a nice story with lots of renovation detail and good characters means I’ll be continuing with the series.
It's finally here, Sallie and Ben are getting married, the weddings are all sorted and on track. 2 cottages with an orangery come up for sale and Sallie just has to have them they are just perfect. Baby teething for Nina, an accident with boiling oil for Sallie and who throws stones? Lovely second installment.
Book 2 in the series and I'm even more in love with pretty beach! This continues on from Ben and Sallie getting together in book 1 and it's the perfect sequel. There is enough intriguing points to keep you reading right to the end and I finished the book before I knew it.
I am really enjoying the series of Pretty Beach books. I really enjoy learning more about the characters as they develop and also the amazing friendships being built. I think Pretty Beach would be an amazing place to live with all the locals only but also the way everyone looks out and supports each other. Can't wait to start the next book.
Could not get on with this story at all, it felt like it dawdled over mundane stuff and skipped the drama and just ... Mentioned it in passing? And the ending was abrupt with 2 storylines unresolved. I don't think I'll be carrying on with the series unfortunately. The Darling Island books by the author are much better for me.
I read this book many years ago and remembered how it made me feel, just a joy to read. I ended up listening to it via alexa on kindle as I like audible books. I wish I could get them on audible as alexa sounds a little robotic. Il be gutted when I've read/listened to them all, truly fabulous book that i just got lost in.
Summer Weddings at Pretty Bech: Contemporary Romance. Polly Babbington x
I really enjoyed reading this book about Pretty Beach. How I wish I could find somewhere so perfect to live. The storyline about Sallie’s and Ben was so romantic and everything turned out so well. I am going to find the next book in the series now, back to Summer Beach. x
Absolutely brilliant. Even better than the first book, I am now starting book 3. The family of mine will have to fend for themselves for a couple of hours of escapism just for me!
I loved visiting pretty beach again and feeling like I was apart of the community. I honestly love all the characters and was constantly smiling reading this book. I can't wait to start book 3. Such a positive, beautiful read
A wonderful book full of friendship, love and a wonderful life by the sea. You can almost feel yourself being drawn into the lives of the characters, the author really writes superb books. I’m off to read book 3 👍
Another good one by Polly. I struggled sometimes as the story seemed to jump onto the next part before wrapping up the previous part but I made it to the end and hopefully will get some questions answered in the next book in the series.
Another great story from Pretty Beach, and I loved learning more about Sallie and her friends, including the wonderful Nina. Looking forward to reading the next instalment.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading more about Sallie and Ben and of course the other residents of Pretty Beach, I cannot wait to read the next chapter of their lives
