Quinn One simple text message can change everything. I found that out the hard way. One minute I’m complaining about a horrible picture of a guy’s you-know-what, and the next, I’m having conversations with a stranger. A gorgeous, rebel of a man who makes my heart skip a beat and does a number on my panties. The only problem is we’re not looking for the same things in life. I want stability and a family, while he always has his eye out for the next good time. Royce She may literally be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. Funny, it all started with an accidental text message. About unwanted male member photos, actually, and from that moment, I was hooked. She’s the perfect woman really, except for one tiny little flaw. She’s looking for the one thing that makes me want to run for the door. Forever. Yet, somehow, I can’t seem to let her go. She might be the one dare I actually fail.
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
Lacey Black stole my heart with her sexy, swoony, unforgettable words a long, long time ago and I swear each new release continues to get better and better. Pants on Fire, the first book in this series of standalones, was really, really good but this one? Holy epic in allllllll the best ways.
Double Dog Dare You gives us Quinn and Royce's story. You might recognize good ol' destined to be a bachelor forever big brother Royce from Pants on Fire and now, well it's his turn this time to fall and his heart that is on the line.
You see it all started with a text and a dare. A text he has no idea is going to shake up his entire world in all kinds of ways, making him want things he's never wanted, and show him everything he never knew he needed... in and with Quinn. And the dare? Well it might just shake up Quinn's life too in unexpected ways.
Their journey was crazy swoony, super steamy, laugh out loud in so many moments, and packed with so much heart and all of the BEST feels. Undeniable chemistry. Scorching heat between the sheets. Quinn and Royce stole my heart early on and I just enjoyed the fall.
Run, don't walk to grab the beauty and the first in this series.
Lacey Black is one of my very favorite authors. Every book I've read has been a terrific read but Double Dog Dare You is that book you never want to put down or have end. I absolutely love everything about this book. The story is perfectly paced, the characters are endearing and well-developed, the storyline and premise are fun, and the sexy times are HOT!!! Royce and Quinn's relationship starts with an unusual misdirected text after Quinn receives the dreaded appendage pic from her short-lived date. A new phone, a misremembered number, and a bit of tequila have her sending texts to who she thinks is her best friend. Their text personas (Rigsby and Tami with an I) strike up a friendship that lasts after after he reveals the mistaken messages. They share great banter and flirty times and are well on their way to being friends without ever meeting. In the meantime Quinn meets a handsome runner outside her home, and the chemistry between them is magical. Then Ms. Black does what she does best. She creates a unique circumstance for a meet cute and once that happens all bets are off. Quinn's looking for Mr. Right but it appears Royce is just Mr. Right Now. She's the private school principal looking for a white picket fence future and he's more into one-night stands and maybe the occasional second date. However, the chemistry between them cannot be denied and the reader is treated to an exceptional story where true love wins out. I love that Ms. Black keeps the reader updated on Royce's brother and his fiancée and Rueben can be the voice of reason for his brother, like Royce was for him in Pants on Fire. There are so many great parts of this book I can't even tell you anything other than read it. It's the sort to book I wish I could read for the first time again because it made my heart happy, except for that brief time Royce was an idiot. Find a comfy corner, grab a glass of wine, and curl up for a trip to Gatlinburg and let Royce zipline into your heart.
3.5 I've read books by this author before and I've always loved her style of writing. This book is a real fast paced, flirty, sweet romance and a totally Insta love story.
Quinn is about to give up on her dating life after every person she dates with there seems to be something that is stopping her form dating them. He friend tries to get her to see that maybe she is just to picky and when she arrives home that decides to text her best friend and tell her why she's picky.
Royce is a guy that is totally happy to play the field and he feels that he is not really ready to settle down he's happy with his life. Then out of the blue he receives a text from an unknown number and she is the woman that he just couldn't get out of his mind and little do they both know but this small thing is about to change both of there lives forever.
I liked these two characters I felt like they had a lot of chemistry between each other and some funny banter. But I couldn't really connect with them and I felt that the story line was a tad to unrealistic for me, especially how fast the relationship progressed from where it started. But overall it was a good story and I cant wait to read what this author writes next.
This book is one of my most favorites from Ms. Black! If you asked me why I couldn’t say one single thing but I know I could give you a couple different answers. First, Gatlinburg. This book takes place in what I consider my second home. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokey Mountains are a place I travel to e wry single year. I’ve been going since my brother was a baby and he’s now 24. I know that area like the back of my hand and with my eyes closed. And could imagine everything when reading! Not to mention I went zip lining this summer for the very first time in the mountains! I can just imagine the scenery as well as I saw it the day I went! Second, Royce and Quinn. Royce, oh my dear Royce. He’s as sweet as can be even when he doesn’t know it. He’s my favorite kind of man character. Doesn’t think he’s worth it when he totally is. And there’s just something about Quinn. She’s sweet, smart, and the perfect match for Royce. And to think, I’d love to meet my Prince Charming the way these two meet. My heart is happy and full and I adore the crap out of this book! Me. Black nailed this story! It is without a doubt one of my most favorites of hers to date!
A solid 4.5 ⭐️ sweet, funny read. I absolutely fell in love with Royce & Quinn with all of the banter. The ease of their friendship then relationship is something everyone should strive for. The chemistry was hot!! I love reading Lacey’s books. Her characters are intriguing, the small town characters are extremely likable & oh this lady can write banter like there’s no tomorrow. A beautiful read!!
Gosh, I feel like it's been so long since this author has released something, even though I know that is NOT the case. I've honestly been in a book slump, and it seems like it has been ages since I have read anything even remotely decent. I will say this, Black took me out of that slump with a quickness. I so desperately needed something hilarious, and Double Dog Dare You was ALL that and a bag of chips.
I adore this author's writing, she has always always in my opinion been a very talented author. It's like within a paragraph, the bait is thrown, and she snags a hold of me, and reels me in. When it comes to Quinn and Royce's story? The very first sentence, and I was hooked. I realized within the first couple chapters that these characters are a perfect sum of myself and my husband. So to say that I loved the characters and the playfulness, that is an understatement.
Double Dog Dare You is a book that doesn't span out over a long period of time. In fact, the timeline covers only about 2 months. With that said, I think the book was fast paced, which I don't have a problem with because there was a nice amount of development within that time frame. The plot wasn't blown out of proportion. There was enough depth that gave it that umpth. The Holy Grail for me? The witty dialogue and that brilliant banter. I could not get enough.
Royce and his personality made this book for me. He was youthful but not enough to make him immature. Outgoing and a thrill seeker at the same time. Quinn took life a tad more seriously, but not enough to make her seem like she couldn't enjoy a good time. Overall the characters were amazing, and they went together so well. The complimented each other on another level, and the sparks flew from them.
One simple text changes everything, but what happens when two people want two completely different things?
Lacey Black’s Double Dog Dare You was so much fun! A text message gone awry, turns a case of mistaken identity into a sweet and sexy strangers-to-lovers romance. Royce Rigsby isn’t looking to be anyone’s Mr. Right—he’s more of a Mr. Right Now kind of guy. After spending twelve years in the Army, Rigsby settled in Gatlinburg to be close to his mother and brother, and he’s the manager of a ziplining company in this bustling tourist town. Quinn Michaels, a private school principal, isn’t having the best luck in the dating pool if her last date is anything to go by. But her luck might be changing after a text meant for her best friend lands on Rigsby’s phone instead, and the sparks start to fly.
Rigsby and Quinn’s relationship felt a lot like fate, and I really enjoyed the feeling of serendipity around them. They kept popping up in each other’s lives, and the natural bantering both by text and in person made for an easy, organic connection between them. I loved how Rigsby challenged Quinn, and my heart soared happily as Rigsby realizes his feelings are more than simple lust.
Witty and full of charm, Double Dog Dare You by Lacey Black was a feel-good romantic comedy that kept me smiling, swooning and swiping the pages of my Kindle. I was rooting for Rigsby and Quinn from the first page, and I devoured their love story in a single sitting. Black delivers another winner with endearing characters, a light-hearted, sexy romance, and a satisfying blend of heartfelt emotion and humor. Lacey Black’s Double Dog Dare You gets 4.5 smooches from me! ~Danielle Palumbo
I keep waiting for Lacey Black to write a book that I won't fall madly in love with her characters and I'm still waiting for it to happen.
I absolutely loved this from start to finish. It was funny, engaging, steam and sweet in all the right moments. I loved Quinn. She was smart, funny and knew what she wanted out of life. As for Royce; he was a great leading man. The fact that he had a few flaws made him that much special.
I had the biggest smile on my face while reading and the only problem I had was that it ended. It was really a great read for sure.

An incredibly fun and quirky read, filled with light humour and plenty of innuendos! Royce is your typical handsome playboy, whereas Quinn is a straight-laced organised head teacher. Their serendipitous meeting gives the reader all the feels. They challenge each other and their banter is brilliant. Following the style of the first book in this series, this is just a truly beautiful love story. There is no drama, just a wonderful tale of two people finding love. Don't get me wrong for a minute there I did want to reach into the pages and give Royce one heck of a slap but he came to his senses quite quickly. Another 5 star read from lacey black
Give me more Rigsby. Royce Rigsby is my book boyfriend. I claim him. With that being said, you really need to read Double Dog Dare You. This is a great novel about how life surprises you. I really enjoyed the message in this book. Sometimes life is unpredictable.
The characters in this story are dynamic. The chemistry is undeniable. I really liked how they met. It made it feel special to me. Add in the cameo from the characters from another book this author writes and well I fell in love.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
This is Quinn and Royce’s story. One text message lead to so much more. The banter back and forth is great, but they are looking for different things out of life. Can they figure out if they should just leave it to mistaken moments that got a little out of hand or will they be too far gone with love to let each other go.
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
This book is a heart felt romance. Quinn and Royce have a chance meeting and sparks fly from there. Awesome storyline that made me laugh and cry. Supporting characters are spot on 😊.
I love Lacey Black! Because she has done it again with this one. I absolutely loved Quinn and Royce's story from start to finish. And I definitely loved how their relationship started! This was exactly what I needed, something easy, fun and sexy.
Plenty of light hearted banter delivering a few laughs, a little bit of angst causing a tear or two (I was having a bad day, don't judge) and a few sexy times. Entertaining throughout.
Double Dog Dare You is Lacey Black’s newest sexy, and fun standalone novel. If you read Pants on Fire then you have met Royce already as Rueben’s older brother. The brother who just wants to have a good time with no strings attached. The older brother who’s about to get knocks on his ass…
It was supposed to be a text conversation between best friends. What it was was the start of something new.
Royce was all about having fun and living the single life. At thirty-five, he knew he didn’t want to be married and have kids. He wanted to go to work as a manager and ziplining instructor during the day, and hit hotspots at night to find his lady friends. Lady friends who know it can’t go any further than a night or two. He was happy with his life, then he saw her. He knew he wanted her just from her voice alone, then he saw her and she took his breath away. It was the same night he received a random text. Was it fate or a lucky night to meet two women who made him feel more than ever before?
Quinn was done with dating. She hated it. She was thirty-eight, and wanted to find Mr. Right. Then, Mr. Sex on a Stick runs by her house. She had never seen someone so handsome especially with that smirk that made her panties useless. And after two nights of talking with him, he was definitely like the person she was texting. A man with one thing on his mind. A good time. Nothing wrong with that, right? Maybe she needs to live a little before Mr. Right shows up.
Oh man, this is a fun one!! The meet cute is the best. Their chemistry is fire. Their banter is full of flirt, laugher, and wit. I loved how they pushed each other’s boundaries without it being forced. It was just natural between them. It was awesome to see Rueben and Cricket again, and I hope to see Sabrina, the best friend in the future.
Quotes:
Me: You’re not just going to delete me?
Rigsby: Hell no, I’ve added you to my phone. We’re official.
Me: Official what?
Rigsby: Official besties. I’ll get us necklaces after work. Bye!
My body is humming, alive, with a reckless desire I’ve not quite experienced before.
“You’re quiet, which means you’re thinking. I hope it’s about what positions he’ll do you in later tonight.”
“You have a filthy mind for someone raised by a preacher,” I tease.
This has got to be one of the best books I've read in a while. Lacey has done it again with this book. I thought Pants on fire was good, but Royce and Quinn have topped the charts.
Everything is in this book. Laughter, angst, hotness, steamy scenes, and much more.
Quinn wants FOREVER, Royce wants what all men want, the next woman to jump in and out of his bed so he can move on to the next. This time it's different. Quinn is different and he is struggling to let her go. Could this be the one for Royce? I Double Dog Dare You to read their story and find out if Royce decided Quinn was enough or has he moved on.
I loved this book from the first page. I love a text from someone else to start communication and this was done so well and set up the story. I loved Royce so much and loved his relationship with Reuben which was shown so well. Quinn was just the woman to bring him to his knees and she certainly did that. This book was perfect and i loved how i just didn't want it to end. Lacey just knows how to write a book to make you forget everything else and i loved it.
I liked this story but I felt like Royce was obsessed with his junk. He kept talking about it and bragging about how girls were crazy about it. The more he talked about it the more I didn't want to hear it anymore. Quinn knew what she wanted and once Royce let it be known marriage and kids were not in his future, I wish she would have dumped him and have him coming back begging her to give him another chance. Overall a nice fast read.
The storyline provided a different twist to a happy ending. Royce and Quinn chemistry was oozing off the page.
I love how the Reuben and Royce get a long. Brotherly love…the twist with one of Quinn’s best friend and Royce was interesting…my eyes raised while she was retelling their interaction.
Look forward to catching up with both brothers with their mom and maybe their marriages. Following Quinn’s best friend (Sabrina) would be interesting.
This is a cute friends to lovers, wrong number text romance! I loved the relationship between Quinn and Royce and how well balanced the steam was to the romance. I maybe would have liked a bit more angst leading up to them figuring out who each other was and maybe if they had the purely texting relationship for a little bit longer.
I loved this delightful book by Lacey who is a one click author for me! It was well written and just so enjoyable. Quinn and Royce were great and it was a fun read. I look forward to reading more from Lacey.
Loved the connection between these two! Awesome read! Couldn't put it down. Great job Lacey! Can't wait for more of whatever you write!!!!! Def 5 stars!!!!!
This book was a delicious break from reality. It’s light, funny, and took me away. I hated having to put it down. I’m definitely reading more by this author.
