This was the hardest book I've ever written and the one I am most proud of because it took me the longest to find. Plus, I love Wolf, and if there is ever a movie made, I can't wait to meet him in real life. Paws crossed.

Here’s a little confession. I broke up with Chevy Stevens for a bit because her books just weren’t doing it for me anymore. I still blame it all on the fact that Still Missing was just toooooooooo good and the others were probably fine if my brain didn’t insist on constantly comparing them to that one. Then I was over on the NetGalley because I need friends like these . . . .

Welcome back, Chevy Stevens!! Dark Roads played in every single emotion I had, it turned my stomach, broke my heart, made me think and made my blood pressure rise!! I loved this emotional page turner. Every character touched my heart and left an imprint. Compulsively readable because you’ll want a resolution and to know how this story turns out. Dark Roads is a confident powerhouse of a thriller, written by an author who knows exactly what she’s doing. There’s soul in the mountain setting, the clear love of the Pacific Northwest, and if you don’t fall in love with the dog in the story, you need your heartstrings checked. I read my first Chevy Stevens book about three years ago and ended up reading the rest of them within a short amount of time. I was super excited to see that she had a new book coming out this year and it did not disappoint!

I love that Chevy Stevens is back, and I really enjoyed this one. I did not realize it won't be out until August 2021, so I will try not to get everyone too excited, haha. Stevens often writes about the outdoors, but this one is really steeped in survival, bringing back echoes of those books I loved as a child (My Side of the Mountain comes to mind). And of course, there are the requisite thrills, a small town packed with secrets and fear. I'm excited for this book to come out.

Chevy knocked it out of the park with Dark Roads! This book had me hooked from the first few pages and made me feel all the emotions that come with her books. There were moments I couldn't put it down and moments I had to put it down because I was so emotionally caught up in the story! This book was definitely worth the wait.

This book sucked me in from the prologue and held me tight until long after I finished reading the Epilogue.
I became deeply invested in Hailey and her dog, Wolf as the story progresses. Beth, the secondary main character, did not appear until halfway through the book but I soon became deeply invested in her as well.

A very good psychological thriller with a surprise ending. Many women have gone missing along a highway. Where do I even begin with this book? I’ve been a fan of Chevy Stevens from the very beginning. The depth in her characters never ceases to amaze me, and I am continually amazed by the twists she puts into her thrillers. I was thrilled to receive this ARC from NetGalley, but after reading the first chapter I knew that I was in for more than I had even hope for with this one! This book had me guessing until the reveal. I didn't see it coming. Really tough to decide who to trust in town. I would be a victim. I was surprised to hear it was based on a real highway.
I liked the different viewpoints in which the story is told. It was interesting to see how family members are affected. Beth was so determined. Hailey was relentless. I recommend this one.

Wow, what a story. I will say that I wasn’t so sure about this book in the beginning but things quickly picked up. I was so anxious to know how this story ended and I was not disappointed. Thank you Net Galley for providing me a copy of this book.
Amazing easy read. Loved the continuous suspense. I’m certain that I read this way too fast and will be indulging again in this awesome mystery.
I'm at a crossroads with this one. One on hand, the high-paced and nerve-rattling ending helped redeem the story for me. On the other hand, I can't help but remember that a good chunk of the book, (about 40 percent) I kept wishing for the pace to speed up and maintain my attention. Dark Roads by Chevy Stevens is set in Canada and based on a true story. I have read all her books and this one didn’t disappoint. This book grabbed me from the first sentence and I had to keep reading to find out what happens. Thanks #St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for this ARC.

I was lucky to get this book early and because of the genre, I knew I needed to set aside some time as I get totally absorbed in Chevy's stories. Needless to say, I won't repeat what other reviewers already said but this storyline is full of emotions, unpredictable twists and adventure, loyalty, and everything you would want in a great story. I highly recommend this book!
