RESCUE YOU (Dogwood County Book #1) by Elysia Whisler is the first book in a new Women’s fiction series that had me hooked from the very first chapter. This is a new author that I will definitely be following into the future.

Constance and Rhett are such wonderful characters. Both broken and yet when they meet, they know just what the other needs even as they work through obstacles of their own. It is not a relationship that comes
Emotional and heartwarming. Comforting and raw. Healing and hurt. Elysia Whisler stole my heart with this gorgeous Romance filled with deep feelings and furry friends. Sisters Constance and Sunny have gone through a lot together. Now they’re both focusing on saving others, dogs in particular. Constance is a massage therapist but she doesn’t only work on two legged clients, but the four-legged variety as well. Sunny owns a dog shelter and is known to have “stolen“ a dog or two from a bad situatio ...more
It has taken me a few days to process this book before I could write a review. To say that I loved it seems to be too simple, this book made me feel. Elysia Whisler didn’t just write a story and scratch the surface of what massage was or what PTSD was or what rescue dogs look like, act like or what it takes to help them recover. No, she educated herself on each topic and was able to deeply use that in each situation and character and build them and make you feel them on a level that most authors ...more

In Elysia Whisler's book, Rescue You, a lot of rescuing is going on! Sunny Morrigan runs Pittie Place, a non-profit dog rescue. Her older sister, Constance Morrigan, is a massage therapist who has started working out at Semper Fit gym. Rhett Santos owns the gym and teaches classes there. Sunny and her friends have been regularly raiding Janice Matteri's kennel for years. The dogs are treated inhumanly and Sunny and a vet try to improve their quality of life. Pete Clark trains the suitable dogs a ...more

Constance Morrigan and her sister Sunny are very busy when it comes to rescuing dogs from puppy mills, even if it means taking illegal actions when they deem it necessary. Meanwhile, Constance has joined a new gym, and this brings her into contact with the owner, Rhett Santos. The two soon find that they have a lot in common, despite Rhett's reticence to become involved.

Keeping the dog rescue afloat is Constance's ultimate goal, even it involves risk and danger. This book most certainly touches

Wow! It is not hard to relate to the characters in Rescue You. This is a warm, true to life story about real people with life problems and confusions who want to change or improve their lives in some way. If you have compassion and respect for animals, this book is for you.
Elysia weaves so many emotions throughout the story with respect for humans and animals. This is my favorite type of book to read because just when you think “I’ll stop after this part” - you can’t.

I believe that everything that happens in your life has an affect on your future. Constance and Sunny have been through more than most. With their father being a Vietnam veteran, the girls were born later in life. When their mother dies when they are still quite young, Constance steps up to "mother" Sunny. Their father is almost deaf and has his own demons to deal with. He recently died and Constance's two year relationship has ended. Both women have baggage and have taken a role that keeps them ...more

Just wow!
This story is just beautiful.
Two sisters, loss, rescue dogs, romance, friendships and most of all, finding the strength to go forward with your life.
Rescue You is a emotional, heartwarming story I encourage you to read.
Elysia Whisler’s writing just draws you in and you can’t stop reading until the books has ended. And, then sadness sets in that the story is over.
I hope to read more books by Elysia Whisler.

This is the last book that I had to read from the fall selection that I got from Harlequin. I am constantly looking for new authors. Especially with romance. I have plenty of authors that I love in other genres but I am kind of new to the romance genre so I am always looking for new authors. Plus the description sounded sooo

Constance and Sunny, are 2 sisters, who run a dog rescue shelter.
Constance is getting over a heartbreak and has joined a gym. Rhett owns the gym and is in need of rescuing himself. As Constance and Rhett get close to each other he is also helping them with the dog rescue. We are also getting first hand about their neighbor who runs a puppy mil.
This book has all the emotions. Wanting to scoop up the rescued dogs and wanting the puppy mill shut down. I loved how these 2 sisters work together. Wha

Rescue You by Elysia Whisler is a sweet, romantic and emotional story line revolving around rescue dogs. Constance Morrigan, our heroine, helps out her sister, Sunny, who runs a non-profit dog rescue, Pittie Place. Constance’s main job is as massage therapist, which she is very good at; in her spare time, she will help find dogs that are suffering or treated badly, especially a local kennel who mistreats dogs, even using them as fighting dogs. Sunny, is our second heroine, since there are two PO ...more

OM goodness- this made me cry. It's a wonderfully written story of a pair of sisters- Constance and Sunny- and their friends Rhett, Sean, and Pete, as well as the dogs they rescue. Constance is at a low point when she impulsively enters Rhett's gym. Rhett, a veteran of multiple tours, struggles with PTSD and with physical injuries that, as it turns out, Constance, a massage therapist, is able to help. Sunny runs a rescue for dogs and she's been trying to shut their neighbor Janice, who runs a pu ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel… It was a whole lot more than just a plain old romance. The interesting aspect of rescuing dogs, and matching them with veterans added a whole lot to the plot and the storyline and the characters themselves. I especially enjoyed the energy between the two main characters. And the sisters’ relationship was well done also.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 Stars - What a great book - loved it! The life of two sisters, Sunny - who rescues dogs (sometimes kidnapping them to save them) and Constance who is going through a rough patch after losing her dad to cancer and her fiancé to another woman. Not going to tell you the story - just read it yourself and enjoy.

This story took a bit for me to work out in my head. I was about a quarter of the way through before I could tell the voices of the sisters apart in my head. It was around the same point I felt the segues smoothed out. Of course, with any new-to-me author I have to get used to their writing style. After I finished this book I found out this is the author’s debut published novel, so she’s not just new to me…she’s new to everyone. For a debut novel, I was impressed.

Elysia Whisler's novel Rescue You opens with massage therapist Constance slamming on her van brakes to avoid hitting a dog. She gets out of the van and manages to coax the lost dog, who was in bad shape and had recently given birth, to eat a biscuit.

She followed the dog who led her to newborn puppies in an abandoned house. Constance wasn't sure if the dog was a stray or from a nearby overcrowded and dirty puppy mill, run by Janice, an awful woman. She managed to get all the sick, dirty puppies a

I really enjoyed Whisler's Rescue You but I gotta start with a little gripe. With Rhett being former military and the blurb comment about the dog rescue being threatened, I expected there to be a little more action in the story. It's an excellent emotional journey piece about people learning to let go of the past and healing so they can have a future. But the adventure really only comes into play towards the end and Rhett isn't that much involved. If that's what you are looking for, I'm afraid t ...more

Massage for the soul

Constance Morrigan is a massage therapist. Most of her work lately has been on rescued dogs that have ended up at her sister's rescue shelter. Sunny, her sister, rescues mainly pit bulls but other types of dogs also, sometimes taking them from abusive environments. She adopts them out or they go to a friend that trains them to be companion dogs for Wounded Warriors, soldiers with physical or emotional damage, or both.

The author brought her environment to life in an engaging and appealing way.

A poignant and heartwarming story that moved me to tears and made me root for the characters.
It’s a well written story that keeps you hooked and you cannot help feeling for Constance, Sunny and Rhett.
Constance and Rhett are damaged, they have to overcome their grief and their story is about moving on and learning to love and trust again.
Sunny is a complex character and the arc from warrior who doesn’t take consequences into account to a responsible woman.
