Jilted: Nico and Sophie

Rate this book
Despite being young and romantically inexperienced, Sophie Woods is an old soul who believes in true love, working hard at her bar, and always trusting her instincts. And from the moment she meets Nico, she knows without a doubt that he is her one-and-only. Twelve years her senior, the handsome architect is only sure of two things when it comes to Sophie: she’s far too young for him, and he wants no part in upsetting her protective older brother.

Broke and broken, Nico Bentley moves to Cliffside Bay for a fresh start at both work and play. But in a cruel twist of fate, it’s the one woman he can’t have whose captivating smile makes him forget all about his past. Yet when tragedy turns the vivacious Sophie into a shell of her former self, it will be Nico, and only Nico, who steps up to bring the joy back into her life. And in the process, the depth of his feelings for her can no longer be ignored.

In this installment of USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson’s beloved Cliffside Bay Series, return to the small town that warms your heart and take a trip halfway across the world to discover hope, healing, and the importance of happiness.

Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.

Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.

She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.

Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the
rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.

She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.

She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter:

Much to her father’s horror, you can find her everywhere on social media.

From the time Sophie was eight-years-old, she dreamt about who her soulmate was going to be. She recognized him as soon as she laid eyes on him. Nico. Now the challenge was to overcome the reservations and doubts he seemed to live with and carry. To convince him they belonged together. Is she able to cross the age barrier reasoning he's put up? She is an "old soul" and goes after what she wants. She is impulsive and driven, has no doubts and knows what she wants. And she loves and wants Nico.

Nico's been jilted and it's stingingly painful. He's afraid to put himself "out there" to be possibly rejected again. Just like he's been all his life. But who can resist the "warrior princess and gorgeous Sophie"? He was going to have to be strong and determined to not give in to her but is it possible? In his mind, he's not good enough for her. She deserves better that him. Oh, but how hard to resist her!

Ms. Thompson has once again taken me back to Cliffside Bay and drawn me into the pages of a story that is filled with wonderful characters. The story of Nico and Sophie brings with it unexpected surprises, drama, heartbreak and doubts. It's also filled with hope, excitement, love and some spiciness that warms you up. Ms. Thompson's writing brings all these things together in her storytelling talent in a book I couldn't put down. Then she brings in two characters I absolutely loved. Jen...the cutest little pup that won my heart along with Nico's. "Dogs made everything better.....dogs love unconditionally." I love dogs in books and Jen is perfect. And then there's Mrs. Coventry. She's an elderly, sprightly lady who sees that Nico and Sophie belong together. She has a plan to accomplish this and isn't afraid to set it in motion. She's full of energy and humor. She is such a fun character.

I love going to Cliffside Bay each time a new novel comes out in the series. Tess Thompson writes with such heart and soul that it emits from the characters. They have become a part of me and visiting, reconnecting and going deeper with new characters makes this series a fantastic read for me.

I am honored to have read Tess Thompson's Jilted: Nico and Sophie. I loved everything about the endeavor of Sophie and Nico to find their HOA. It pulled at my heart. I love going to Cliffside Bay and spending time there....and I'm excited for the next book in the series. Thank you, Ms. Thompson, for this wonderful read!

All opinions and thoughts in this review are my own.

“ Here’s how to tell if he’s the right one . It’s very simple, actually. He’ll sacrifice whatever it takes to be with you “

These are the words Sophie’s biological dad leaves for her in a journal .
Sophie knows who her soul mate is, unfortunately he doesn’t want to agree.
Nico has been unloved , jilted, and hurt throughout his life. He cannot love Sophie because that hurt he won’t come back from.

I have been waiting for Sophie’s story and it was worth the wait.
I love Sophie and Nico and we are reunited with old friends and introduced to new ones.
I cannot wait to see when Tess Thompson takes us next on this journey !

When Sophie has a dream at 8 years of age, it's of a blue-eyed man with a black and white dog with bangs. This man is to be her soul mate. Now she just has to find him and they'll be together forever. Unfortunately, that man turns out to be a VERY RELUCTANT Nico, a man 12 years her senior. A man who has lower self esteem than most. A man determined not to love or be loved. Poor Sophie...

Will Sophie ever get her man? Will Nico realize that the woman who's been his sun all these years can be more than that? Can be his forever? If Sophie has her way - YES!

Jilted is a sweet and clean love story with more than its share of back and forth. I loved Sophie, she's a gem - sweet, positive thinking, and with a heart as big as the sky. Nico I had a harder time with, but once his parents were introduced, I could sort of understand why he was so broody and reluctant to give into his feelings for the adorable Sophie. I haven't read the rest of this series, but if it's as good as Jilted, then I will definitely be reading!

So we have seen so many people fall in love with this series. This was a different type of story, to me, anyway. This was like fate. Nico is dead set against being with Sophie. Not only was she younger, by a lot, but she was too good for him. Now, Sophie had other plans. Plans to get the man of her dreams, literally. With a little help from an eccentric old lady and a black and white dog name Jen, the chase is on.

I loved this story. From the first time she came on the scene, I have loved Sophie. She is so sweet and so easy to love. She has sacrificed so much for her family, but she refuses to let anything sacrifice her love for her man. She is so innocent and pure. She is the best of everyone in these pages. Genuine to the core. Nico, on the other hand, was the one that drove me crazy. The back and forth. They kiss and then push away. Nico drove me bonkers with it. I love her already.

Yes, I even said it out loud. (Haha) I get his feelings, though. I was adopted, and so maybe that's why? When he talked about the DNA results and the sense of being unloved. I felt that. I could relate on a genuine level. I know this book hit me in all the feelings, meaning, I bawled like a baby. I was mad, sad, happy, and I even laughed until I cried. (Can't read any of these books without shedding at least 1 tear).
I was so glad the story played out the way it did. It dealt Sophie, and really everyone in Cliffside Bay a hard blow. They had so many hard choices to make in the future and amidst the loss and pain comes a beautiful love. I absolutely love it.

I wouldn't be a reviewer if I didn't give a shout out to Tess Thompson. I stumbled across her one day and now here I am, absolutely floored by her writing. Each book is better than the last, in my opinion anyway. They all bring family, love, loss, pain, and friendship to the reader. This one really hit home for me and I assume it will with others as well.
Well I guess you know I loved it. If you pick this book up, don't do it at night, because you will not be able to sleep and don't forget the tissues.

Sophie has always believed in love and happy ever after and it is only a matter of when and not if. From the moment she meets Nico she knows that he is her destiny but convincing him is a challenge she is prepared to overcome.

Between his painful past and the age difference between them Nico believes that Sophie deserves a better man than him. He is determined to keep his distance but when tragedy nearly strikes it causes him to reflect on what is truly important and how short life can be.

This is an emotional story filled with drama, twists and healing from the past. Both Sophie and Nico are trying to deal with what life has thrown them but Nico’s past has caused him to shut down while Sophie has not allowed it to change who she is. There is no doubting the love and chemistry between them and the only thing standing in their way was Nico. It is always fun to return to Cliffside Bay and this story was no exception.

Tess Thompson has a knack for writing the most beautiful characters. Visiting Cliffside Bay really is like catching up with dear friends. Sophie and Nico are now officially my favorite Cliffside Bay couple. I love their story. I am impressed with Sophie, who is so sure of herself! Nico has a self confidence problem, but we learn that theres a good reason for that. I especially loved meeting Mrs. Coventry, and her role in helping Nico see the light. And who can resist a romance that includes a visit to Paris?
As with almost all Tess's books, I laughed, I cried and I held my breath in suspense.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves romance with a thoughtful well developed storyline and a romantic ending!

Jilted: Nico and Sophie (Cliffside Bay) by: Tess Thompson

Jilted is love in it's purest form. Raw, unpredictable, haunting and fierce. Buried inside the impossible resides the courage to make the impossible, a reality. Jilted is the joining of two deeply wounded hearts, despite the odds. Heartache has never hurt so good. Nico and Sophie delve deep into the soul and leave a gaping wound where the heart should be. It's a messy kind of pain littered with some ugly cry moments, but Thompson never ceases to mend the wounds she inflicts. For within the tragedy of life is a salve known as love and that makes the heartache worth every tear.

We have been waiting for Sophie's story since she walked into Maggie and Zane's lives as their long lost sister. She has always be the youngest old soul in Cliffside Bay and Jilted just showed us more of that kind and wise woman.
Sophie had a dream about the man she would call her soul mate when she was a young girl. She knew from the moment that she meant Nico he was meant to be together. Nico however was very reluctant to start anything with Sophie because of the age difference and because he just didn't believe he was enough.
You are going to love reading how Sophie shows Nico that love has no age limit and that everyone is worthy of it!

I was looking forward to Sophie’s story but this one just didn’t do it for me. This is hard for me to write because this is the first Cliffside Bay book that I’m giving less than 4 stars. I was not a fan of Nico. To me he was whiny and multiple times I thought to myself that he’s right and doesn’t deserve someone as kickass as Sophie is. But I loved Sophie just as I’ve loved her in the previous books! And I loved seeing all our old friends again! I’m glad I read it so I can keep up with everyone and stay on up to date for David and Sara’s book!

Tess Thompson did it again! Loved being pulled in Cliffside Bay to meet my old friends and especially Nico and Sophie! Another sleepless night because I couldn't put it down! Love story in it's purest and truest form. Soulmates. Second chance love. Fighting and facing inner demons, insecureties, self esteem issues and fears to finally accept love of their lives.
The story line is original and so lovely with some turns and unexpected twists.
It was an awesome addition to meet Mrs.Coventry. Such a great character! Loved her so much.
Thank you Tess Thompson for another great story!

This was a lovely story about two soulmates, Nico and Sophie. Sophie knows they are soulmates, but it is going to take a village to get these two together. Set in beloved Cliffside Bay, Jilted will take you back home again in a quest to help Nico heal his broken soul. Sophie is his sunshine, but Nico has to allow himself to love again. Can he? I loved this story and hope you, too, will love it. Highly recommended! It will just make you all smiley and happy!

Desperate...should have been the title.

Desperate, should have been the title of this book. The heroine of Jilted was so desperate for the hero (manwhore) that she pretty much done nothing but beg him to love her throughout the book. The couple did not get together until the last 5% of the book. If you have Lifetime or Hallmark channel save yourself the money on this book and watch a movie.

Sophie is such a beautiful person. I'm sure it mentions several times what she looks like, but I'm talking about her inner beauty. Nico has it too, he just keeps his closed up. I really enjoyed this book.

Boy, am I enjoying steaming through this series! I almost don't want to have to wait for June for the last book!
Jilted gives us the story of the fourth Wolf, Nico, and his blossoming love story with Dog Sane's half-sister, Sophie.
Both souls with feelings of abandonment, but totally different life situations, they go from pushing each other away to drawing close like two opposite ends of a magnet.
I enjoyed this next instalment, and can't wait for David and Sara's story. Thank goodness I still have a couple of novellas to read!

Ashes and Love

Nico is madly in love with Sophie but won't tell her or admit to it because of their age difference. Sophie has been in love with Nico since she met him. The age difference doesn't bother her. There are many twists and turns in this book including Nico saving Sophie's life. Read this exciting book to find out about it.

Nico has some issues to work out, especially since his ex fiancé jilted him for another.
But when he sees Sophie he can only be her friend. Why you ask, well… there is the age difference plus big brother Zane threatened him.
Sophie is so head over heals for Nico, but no matter what she does she’s unable to win him over, until someone helps her out.
I enjoyed it very much.

should be book 10

Great book, well written as always by this author :-) however, it makes no sense that this book came after “Chateau Wedding”. I read the books in order as they are numbered, but château wedding has spoilers which ruins the surprise of the fire and that Nico and Sophie get together.

Very sweet love story

Number nine in the Cliffside be book series. Very sweet love story about to good people. Not really any suspense or Adventure, just a good love story. I would have enjoyed a little bit longer ending or an epilogue though.

This story made me the most anxious of all the others. I wanted to strangle Nick for being so mule headed. Thank goodness Sophie had some heavy backup and the patience to wear him down.

Jilted: Nico and Sophie: Cliffside Bay Book 12 is by Tess Thompson. Sophie knew what she wanted, she wanted to run The Oar and she wanted to marry Nico. However, Nico felt the twelve years different in their age prohibited that. It was up to Nico. How could she convince him?
