Movies, murder and too much vodka …

Pepper Revelle is thrilled the Bohemia Bartenders’ latest gig is in her backyard: a cocktail-themed film festival that draws all the usual suspects to Bohemia Beach. But good suspects are in short supply when a body wearing an antique gold coin necklace washes up on the Florida sand.

Best book in this series so far. Pepper, Neil and group are working together again, mixing extraordinary cocktails, this time for a small film festival. In addition, clues are heating up with Neil's missing Grandfather when an elderly man washes up on the beach.
I picked up the first book in this series when Book Sirens offered it as a free read. I was delighted with the first book and the stories just keep getting better. I love the romantic pull between Pepper and Neil. I want to know the rest

Pepper Revelle is back with another Bohemia Bartender adventure. This is the third book in the series and the best one yet.

Pepper is dealing with many different issues right now. She's quite attracted to her boss, Neil, but his mind is elsewhere. His grandfather is missing. To make matters worse, her ex-boyfriend seems to be the target of a killer. Although Pepper can understand why someone would want to get rid of her ex, she’s really disgusted when he turns to her for protection.

Another great romp in the world of the bohemia bartenders! Vexed by Vodka finally addresses the mystery surrounding Neil's missing treasure hunting grandfather - a fun, fast-paced narrative with all the usual aspects you expect from a cozy (but a little flirtier than your standard cozy which I quite like, it v much suits the setting and character of first person narrator Pepper)

The characters are all great but I wil

A new favourite in the series!
In the first two books of the Bohemia Bartender series, we were told about Neil's gramps - the old man had gone missing and it might have had something to with a sunken treasure. In this book, we see a lot of development on the missing persons front - and not to forget, the action-movie-like-sequence ending.
Vexed by Vodka is a cocktail of quirky, naughty, nerdy and nice. A perfect read for any occasion if you ask me! Highly recommended!

I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of this book. Excellent writing, a great mystery, LOTS of laughs, and a little romance. Perfect escapism!

As a long-time fan of author Lucy Lakestone, I was thrilled to receive a free advance copy of "Vexed by Vodka." The following review is my own honest opinion of this book. The Bohemia Bartenders series is a fun, exciting, delicious romp with Pepper Revelle and her quirky bartender buddies. Pepper is affectionately known as "Hot Pepper" by one of the juicier male characters; she is always finding herself in situations that require careful sleuthing and much adventure! "Vexed by Vodka" has her bac ...more

I received a free copy to review for Book Sirens. This was my first book with them and I was worried about what I'd get. I was excited after the first chapter. This is the 3rd book in a series, but was fine as a read-alone. Things were referred to, but nothing that interfered with the plot. I will be going back to read the earlier books.

Pepper co-owns a bar (with a silent partner) and is a bartender at her own bar as well as with a group of bartenders in a small tourist town in Florida. This boo

This the third book in the Bohemia Bartenders mystery series starring Pepper Revelle and her (maybe) boyfriend Neil, both bartenders in the Florida town Bohemia Beach. I've enjoyed all three books and the myriad characters mostly mixologists who describe drinks that I would love to try.

The problem I had when I started reading this book was to be selling a house in Colorado, moving to a winter vacation home in Arizona and then buying and moving into a full-time house in Arizona all in the space

This is the 3rd book I’ve read in the Bohemia Bartender Mysteries and I have to say so far I’ve enjoyed everyone.

So we go back to New Orleans and we meet in Pepper Revelle bar. But it is still unknown as to what has happened to Neil’s (Peppers love interest) grandad, will we get to find out????? What about the gorgeous Mark?? All will be revealed in the book but not without a couple of twists and turns……

Yes this was a good easy read with enough to keep you interested but not too much that you

I received an advance copy of this book and wrote this review voluntarily. In Vexed by Vodka, the well-written third installment of the delightfully entertaining Bohemia Bartenders series, author Lakestone has hit her stride. She offers up a great combination of laughs and intrigue, making this cozy mystery a real page-turner. The story takes place at a film festival where our heroine, a plucky gal named Pepper, and her bartender pals find themselves surrounded by craft cocktails, Hollywood hot ...more

This is the third book in the series that I have read and reviewed and it continues to be a fun concept. Pepper and company are home in this story where they are mixing the drinks for a film festival in their own backyard. Celebrities descend along with Pepper’s nemesis, her ex, Mr. Mixy. A more pompous annoying character would be hard to find. My teeth grind when he inserts himself into Pepper’s life. I can only imagine what it would be like to have someone that self important around.

“Three men walk into a bar, and the joke’s on me. Because it’s my bar, and one of the guys is an annoying ex, one is the embodiment of sex, and the third is like an X on a map—a treasure I may never claim.”

I liked that beginning which promised a fun ride in “Vexed by Vodka”, the third in the Bohemia Bartenders Mysteries. I enjoyed the first two and felt a bit disappointed in this one. While the cocktail concoctions were still delightful (especially with the use of Angostura bitters created in Tr

I received an advance review copy of Vexed by Vodka and am voluntarily leaving this review. This is the third in the Bohemia Bartenders series, and I think it is the best one so far. Pepper is happy to be working with the Bohemia Bartenders group at a several day film festival in her hometown of Bohemia Beach. The festival turns out to be a chance for the quirky group of bartenders to help Neil, Pepper’s crush and boss, solve a threat to his treasure hunter grandfather’s life. There’s mystery, m ...more

Crime Fighting Cocktalians at the Film Fest
In this episode our crime-fighting mixologists have their work cut out for them with someone trying to kill Mr.Mixy, Grandpa has gone missing, and a dead body on the beach. This book is so much fun to read. I have read the entire series and each book is better than the last. The plots are just twisted enough to make the ending quite a surprise. There are plenty of cocktails, cocktail recipes, and drink variations to keep an amateur bartender happy. The

Another fun whodunnit from the traveling mixologists. This time they are on there home ground for their adventures and it won't disappoint. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. The cover gives a synopsis way better than me so no book report here. Just go read it and enjoy! I was provided an advanced reader copy and was under no obligation to review this book. The opinions expressed are my own. I loved the first two books in this series, and couldn't wait for this one to come out - and it DID NOT disappoint! Pepper is back with a whole new mystery centered around a film festival: one that involves a gold coin and a dead body that's closer to her crush Neil than anyone would like. But just when you think that's already intriguing - Pepper's ex comes back into the picture (and yes, he's still as annoying!) because he's convinced someone's out to kill him too. Loved all these characters a ...more

Once again we join the Bohemia Bartenders at an event where things go awry...

If I was an event planner I'd be banning this group from my events, murder and mayhem seem to abound when this group is present.

Another fantastic cocktail instalment from author Lucy Lakestone. A tasty tipple to try, developments in the relationships between the characters is beautifully executed, and Mr Mixy gets what's coming to him...
Who could ask for more?
A highly enjoyable addition to the booze based cozy series.

Pepper and her fellow mixologists organize a film festival, however, a body turns up to her distress. To complicate Pepper’s life further, her ex shows up asking for her help. Meanwhile, Neil is worried about his missing grandfather. I enjoyed Pepper’s sifting through the chaos to find answers, and especially loved the humor throughout this mystery. I love this series. This mystery had me guessing until the end, Through the story I thought I had the identity of the culprit only to change my mind. Pepper is learning more about Neil and it makes me smile that he is taking his time getting to know her better before they go in a more romantic direction. This is a nice read to feel like a day on the shore with a drink and some sunshine. I received an advance copy and this is my honest review.

This author impressed me with reducing her use of passive writing style to less than maybe 20% of the book. That being said, I began to dread when she started describing anything simply for the fact I realized it'd be done in passive voice. She also had strange run on sentences at times for really no reason. Give another editorial review before publishing and she would earn five stars, in my opinion. This story is the third in a series, but can be a stand alone book. Characters are easily relate ...more

I received this copy viaVoracious Readers and it is the third in the series but the first one I have read.It is a cozy mystery which stands alone but more about bartending that it is about the mystery. Pepper has her own bar but she mixes cocktails with other bartenders for a small film festival and is romantically drawn to Neil. Neil's Grandfather is a treasure hunter who has disappeared and the three other friends that were with him have all been murdered so he disappeared for his own safety. ...more

This is the third book in the Bohemian series. I did enjoy this book but lots of characters to keep track of. It is not necessary to read the first two in the series but would definitely help keeping the characters straight. Pepper and her other Bohemian bartenders are working a film festival. Neil is really upset because his grandfather is missing and the police ask him to come identify a body that washed up on the beach that could be his grandfather’s. He did recognize the coin necklace on the ...more

What a great read for shelter in place. This is the third in the series and probably the strongest in the series. The Bohemian Bartenders are in Pepper's hometown working at a film festival which means lots of drinks, bright lights, stars, and of course murder. Pepper's ex boyfriend is in town with someone attempting to murder him which doesn't stop him from trying to get to get back with Pepper. Meanwhile, Pepper and Neil keep passing innuendos back and forth about what could be between the two ...more

This book was an enjoyable, sometimes laugh-out-loud story that continues the exciting adventures of Pepper Revelle and the many characters who make up her world of Bohemia Bartenders. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of my initial confusion sorting out all of the characters. I suspect that had I read the earlier two books in this group, I would not have gotten so confused. The author does a great job with descriptions...whether of people or places. This was one of the instances when it is too hard to come in at third installment in the series. I got lost and confused with names, relationships and backstories. At the end, all of these details simlly washed over me.

Vexed by Vodka is light, fun and not a murder mystery. However, it's stuffed with too much white noise abd banter. I found all the details and descriptions of cocktails and outfits too much and boring.

But I have to give book its due. I liked main characters and would be intereste

A great cozy mystery with lots going on. The main stay characters in this series are great and the the way the ‘team’ is built means they can be lots more mysteries in lots more locations. I like the way there was a main mystery and a sub plot that you couldn’t quite figure out either.

If you like your cozy mysteries you’ll like this series.

My only criticism is that I wish the love interest would be hammed up more - there’s slow burn and then there’s a trickle!

What do you get when you combine a bartender with a murder? You get Kayanne, aka "Pepper", a bartender than gets dragged into a murder mystery. I started on this book, even though it was the third in a series, but there was still enough information for me to completely understand the series. That is rare in a series, making me want to come back to read the whole thing!

A nice story involving bartenders and their events at Bohemia Beach. There´s a lot of action, many funny and thrilling situations, a lot of cocktails and other booze they experiment on. Liam and Pepper are able to solve a mystery and involve their group in the action. Looking forward to the next book which will be set in London.

What can I say about this book?
A fast read.
Likeable characters. Interesting plot
Some cursing ( unneeded for the story), I just tried to skip over quickly.
Some romance thrown in with exciting drama here and there.
Over all, a great book.
Pick up a copy today. Read and enjoy.
