Aw, Deep in Providence is raw. Haunting. Magical. Painful. Sad. Hopeful. Emotional. And above all, splendidly written!

As soon as I heard about this book, I knew I needed to have it because it's based in Rhode Island! As much as I love my tiny state, it never gets the recognition it deserves. Deep in Providence does an excellent job of recognizing it, especially the varied cultural experience that happens in such a small space. As a resident, I loved seeing familiar places.

I adored this!! An absolutely stunning and haunting debut about three girls who turn in desperation to magic after their friend dies in a car accident. This is a beautiful exploration of grief, love, friendship and family, and Miliani, Inez and Natalie have an intense depth that made me love them so much.

A spell-binding debut I read all in one day. Part sweeping family saga, and part age old tale of how deep the roots of friendship and love really run. This is a genuinely incredible book I won’t soon forget.
A beautiful exploration of friendship, grief, and love that transcends everything--even death--DEEP IN PROVIDENCE is a searing debut novel. It is the perfect combination of terror and tenderness.

This book was so dam delicious! I grabbed every chance I could to just devour it. Deep in Providence gave me everything my little heart hoped for. I am in awe of this book. I don’t tend to read a lot of magical realism, but this was above and beyond my expectations. This story was haunting and emotional. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been having a week, but this book has been powerful to me.

I got chills from the very first sentence and I knew right then, this would be a story filled with emotions in the best way possible. I’m no psychic, but I’m so glad I was right.
Neilson crafts emotion, haunting, pain, love, joy, and complex characters in a way that wants you turning the page for “just one more chapter” (spoilers: you will stay up all night reading it). With such strong prose and descriptive imagery, I cannot wait for what she writes next!

Deep in Providence promised so many things I've been craving in a book, and it delivered on every single one of them expertly. The need to see what would happen next kept me up reading through exhaustion on several occasions. This book is raw and gripping and emotional, and pulled so many feelings out of me while I was reading that the time seemed to just fly by. DEEP IN PROVIDENCE is a beautifully written, haunting debut about three teenage girls, Milliani, Natalie, and Inez, and how they deal with grief when their best friend Jasmine passes away.

I had the pleasure of reading an early copy of DEEP IN PROVIDENCE. Can I just say . . . this book pulled and twisted at me in ways that I didn't think was possible. Neilson did an impeccable job at grabbing the reader by creating wonderfully flawed characters who demanded for their stories to be told. The family and friend dynamics were hard-hitting and raw. It was such a beautiful read. I felt seen between the pages, and not just to one single character, but I saw a piece of myself in every characters and their struggles/condition. This book covered a lot of grounds.
