A Duke Worth Falling For - Sarah MacLean

Falling in love with a farmhand kind of Duke

I've only finished the first story from Naughty Brits, A Duke Worth Falling For by Sarah MacLean, and it alone was enough to recommend buying this anthology. It's cute, funny, and gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Considering this was a short story, I think Sarah MacLean definitely succeeded in giving us a swoon-worthy modern Duke to fall in love with. Ms MacLean also managed to succeed with the heroine as

me: you could not possibly make a sheep farmer and modern day duke hot to me. He probably has bad teeth and smells funny from hanging out with sheep all day.
Sarah: hold my beer.
Me: clearly I was very wrong. I bow down, as always, to your greatness.

I've spent a week working my way through this delicious anthology. A perfect read to kick off the Fall season, the stories within perfectly fit the theme "naughty Brits" and were loosely connected by a fancy gala hosted in the British Museum (a touch I appreciated).

Sarah MacLean - A Duke Worth Falling For: FIVE STARS, glorious, my favorite of the antho (I am an avowed Sarah fan so I might be biased).

I slowly savored Sarah MacLean's A Duke Worth Falling For like a hot mug of cider. Crisp, warming

I’ll be honest: I bought this just for Sarah’s story (which of course was perfection).

I know I’ll get to the rest of these eventually, but I don’t want the book sitting on my currently reading shelf. I’ll update as I finish.

Sarah MacLean - A Duke Worth Falling For: If you don’t already know a Sarah story is going to be outstanding before you even begin, I’m side-eyeing you lol She is so darn brilliant it is ridiculous! This story was humorous and swoony and an all-around feel-good romance! I fell in love with both Lilah and Max from the start!

Sierra Simone – Supplicant: Deliciously filthy with a sprinkle of suspense! MY GOD this woman is good at the words! *fans self*

When you hear that one of your favourite historical romance authors is writing a contemporary duke romance novel, of course, I had to read it the next second.
It’s so beautiful written and has a bit of everything, from a trans-Atlantic romance with funny moments that involves a sheep or two , very steamy scenes in true Sarah style, to a few twists and turns because there’s royalty involved and everything is possible.
It’s just perfect for a Sunday afternoon while drinking a cup of English tea an

I bought this anthology for the Sarah MacLean story…she wrote a contemporary!! OMG guys it’s amazing! But I kept reading for both familiar authors and new names to me. This was a very sexy and for the most part fantastic anthology! All 5 stories are linked through a common event-sex at the British Museum. What a neat way to connect an anthology! A fantastic collection

A mega collection by superstars in the romance genre. Five incredibly touching, amazingly well-written, smolderingly sexy stories. I’m raring to read more books by these authors.

A Duke Worth Falling For by Sarah MacLean 5 ⭐️s
Sarah CAN write contemporary romance. I’m getting La Nora vibes with the strong yet vulnerable heroine in Lilah Rose and the brooding reluctant duke in Max, and the #metoo victory. I wish she’d write more contemporary. Simon’s story next, please?

This was such a good anthology! I love novellas and I love Britain, and the British Museum (which is a recurring setting) so I was predestined to love this book. The lead story by Sarah Maclean with a photographer heroine, secret duke/farmer hero was so fantastic! And just really checked all my favorites things. A couple of these authors were new to me and I really enjoyed the introduction to their work. The one that was most surprising for me was by Louisa Edwards - an author I hadn't read befo ...more

The problem with anthologies is that not all stories are created equal. This collection boasts 2 fabulous stories and 3 duds.
The good ones are really great. Sarah MacLean really shines in the first short, making me wish she wrote more contemporary romances. And Tessa Gratton is amazing. It’s her first foray into the romance world and makes one sincerely hope it’s not her last.
The ones I didn’t name - yeah those are the ones whose books I felt was penance to pay for the one I loved.

I loved the two stories I read in this anthology. As soon as I heard a Romance Anthology was coming all featuring a Naughty Brit I knew I had to read it and it did not disappoint. I loved that each story features one Brit and one American and in the end they all end up at the same event, a fundraiser in a British Museum. Although all different stories they all have a connection that way and I thought that was unique for an anthology.

A Duke Worth Falling For - Sarah Maclean

Few authors do the kind of work in entire novels that Sarah Mac manages to do in this novella, which is everything wholesome and satisfying. With her first foray into contemporary, the author reminds me of a classic Nora Roberts novel, with a unique Sarah twist. A strong successful heroine, and the hero who worships her even while he deceives her just a little. Because oh yeah, he’s an honest to god, modern day Duke. Swoons. Lilah and Max’s story is sweet

I enjoyed the anthology as a whole, but Sarah MacLean’s story was the best for sure. Of the remaining four, one was ok and one just made me ick out repeatedly. But the surprise runner up for me was Sierra Simone’s dark and desperate but oh so hot story at the end. Delicious!

It's time to get your Brit on. How about some naughty style? If this sounds like you then you should dive into Naughty Brits.

It has been ages since I read a Sarah MacLean book and she reminded me why I love her work so much. She has a unique writing style that grabs you and hooks you.

When I see Sierra's written a book it's an instant one-click for me her writing is just phenomenal whichever style she is writing.

This whole collection is stories about, you guessed it, British heroes. Except one, which has a Welsh heroine and (I think) an American hero. Enjoyable enough but nothing to write home about. It was a nice way to be exposed to some new authors, including the very popular Sarah MacLean. Her story is the first and probably the best. I bought it for Sierra Simone's story (she's one of my faves) and while her story was good, she laid it on quite thick with the kinky theology. Sophie Jordan's story w ...more

I read Supplicant by Sierra Simone and wowowow. Church and Charley were explosive, even for an anthology short. Simone packed a lot of everything into 8 chapters. Filth. A touch of angst. And lots of heart.

Church was alpha but not overbearing. Charley was submissive but not weak. They fit together like puzzle pieces, worshipping each other as their own altars.

For Sarah’s story alone, this gets 5 stars. It was perfection.
I also enjoyed Sophie Jordan's (it reminded me of her Devil's Rock series, which I have a soft spot for).

3.5 stars to Sarah MacLeans’s story - very cute but I didn’t love how LONG he took to tell her he’s a duke. And the ending was super rushed (I know it’s a short story!) but I was confused that he didn’t tell her immediately at the gala? A little wobbly on the dismount but it does make me super want to read more Sarah MacLean contemporary if she ever decided to write more!

4 stars to Sophie Jordan’s story. I do like a body guard story! And the complicated back story! I wish it was dual pov.

4.5 Stars The standouts for me for this really great anthology was Sarah MacLean and while she shines in her genre, she is no slouch at contemporary and I hope she considers doing more in the future.

3.5 for Sophie Jordon, she was the only other author I knew. The other 3 were all NTM. I will give an honorable mention and 3.75 to Tessa Gratton, she did a good job for putting sparks on the page. The 4.0 goes to Sierra Simone, her addition made me the most uncomfortable, mad, turned on, teary-eyed

So, Naughty Brits is a super-fun anthology (it's all m/f couples, even if a couple of the characters seems to be bi or pan in their history) and seem to be arranged in order of increasing filthiness:

1. Sarah MacLean - sweet, more traditionally structured, H seems to be from the line of Matthew MacFadyen characters in boots and a sweater, plus-sized heroine, steamy sex scenes, including one on top of a "folly" on his estate in the outdoors
2. Sophie Jordan - quick and dirty, H is described as an I

I am in love with this anthology of sexy broody Brits. I read Sierra Simone and Sarah MacLean's novellas.

Sierra just knows what I want in a story. Idk if she has magical powers or what but she just gets me. This story was hot, passionate, angsty and just so everything that I was looking for. Church and Charley were made for each other.

I felt like I went through a whole journey with these two because there were so many emotions BIG EMOTIONS packed into the story along with ache. SO

I was super excited to land an arc of this anthology. For one, it featured Sarah MacLean dipping her toes into contemporary waters for the first time. It also featured stories by new-to-me authors, Louisa Edwards and Tessa Gratton and I’m always excited about the possibility of discovering a brand new author’s backlist to dive into.

In A Duke Worth Falling For by Sarah MacLean, we’re introduced to famous celebrity photographer Lilah Rose and a farmer named Max who is also, unbeknownst to Lilah,

Will review each story one by one:

1. Sarah McLean - A Duke Worth Falling For

This was adorable and I'm glad that the drama was minimal and that the "ex was bad" trope was reversed.

2. Sophie Jordan - Better With You

This was going fine but it was more insta-love and then ended on a HFN note.

3. Louisa Edwards - Not A Bad Boy

This was also good altho not here for the while self sacrifice nonsense.

4. Tessa Gratton - Songbird & 5. Sierra Simone - Supplicant

These two bored me tbh.

Over all 3.5 stars

Supplicant DESTROYED me and then brought me back to life. And Sarah MacLean’s secret duke story was a cozy delight that felt like home.

I might bump this up to five stars just for the sheer perfection of those two stories.
