Rin and her twin Tina have been raised very differently by their mother in preparation for Tina breaking a curse on her family that’s lasted for thousands of years. Roman happens across Rin and they’re instantly drawn to each other, which is confusing since Rin is not the older twin, whose burden it is to lift the curse. This is early Susan Stoker, and it’s interesting to see how her writing has evolved. There’re still the themes of goodness being rewarded, strength of character, and protectiveness. I read the short story ebook on Kindle. 3.5/5

Roman and Rin have a modern day love story influenced by centuries of lore. Written in third person, the book begins with a flashback to 128 A.D. and the story of Rin's ancestor and how the ring and the lore came to be in her family.
Roman and Rin feel an instant connection. Readers learn how Rin has been searching for the family ring so her twin sister can find true love and break the family curse. Roman is enthralled with Rin when they meet. I love the way they are drawn to each other. There is a mystical element in the story as the Guardian Mist protects Rin and Roman to ensure they get their HEA.
It turns out that this novella was part of an anthology and this book is the end of the ring's journey. So I felt the need to go back and read the other stories, which I am in the process of doing. This book does stand alone for readers who are not as compulsive as I am.

if you love a tale as old as time The Guardian Mist hit's the spot
if you love a dash of Roman history combined with a curse this book will enthrall you from start to the very end.
Rin and Roman both looking for their very own HEA but can they find it before a family curse stops Rin from ever finding happiness???
Rin is a sweetheart and Roman is just that a Roman god omgoodness lol what a great story, short, sweet and to the point a real modern fairytale with a few historical twists.
I liked that even though Cassia seemed like the wicked witch she really wasn't she was just very misunderstood, I like that Tina may have come across like the horrible step-sisters from cinderella but deep down she wasn't she just wanted her own happiness and I loved the references to dream, true love and disney princesses.

This book is part of the "Ever My Love" anthology. Susan Stoker did a wonderful job with this story. It isn't like her usual military alpha stories, but a cute story non the less.
In this story, an ancient ring and an actual curse play out here. The first born daughters need to find their true loves by their 25th birthday or the curse lives on. Susan Stoker kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I never saw the ending coming!!
This is an EPIC READ, you MUST read it!!! What have you got to lose?? Happy reading!! *wink*

I found the story a little trite and predictable. I just never got the whole love at first sight with the hero and heroine because it was just poorly handled. The whole broken childhood crap was just so heavy handed that it was laughable.
Oh, and there was a typo IN THE VERY FIRST DAMN SENTENCE OF THE BOOK.
On top of all this, is apparent the author doesn't know what an IT person actually does and that a hiker would NEVER wear steel-toed boots.

I love Susan Stoker's work and this slightly paranormal/fantasy story was a great find for me. The characters are well built and the legend of the ring was awesome. This story is unlike the author's SEALs, Deltas, Honor, of Mercenary series. It is a sweet, finding love unexpectedly story that has a touch of danger and a big dose of I want to kick Rin's mom in the a$$. Very enjoyable read and I just need to know where to find Mackenzie's book.

I'm not normally one for period pieces But Susan Stoker had to be the exception, and l was right.
Anything by this author is superb. She weaves generations together so that the story is seamless, the characters rock solid and l cannot recommend her highly enough as author..

This book was a very adorable short love story. I very much enjoyed it.
Rin and Tina are twins, except Tina was marked as the older twin. However, Rin was actually older—only by a few seconds.
Roman and Rin are portrayed as fated mates in a supernatural romance book.
I thought Susan's doing this was very cute. It was a small "see what I'm about" way to get readers to enjoy her writing.

Okay book but the guardian mist aspect is not explained, as this novella was previously part of an anthology that may be where the missing explanation is. The characters could have been developed more but this is not uncommon in novellas.

Great
This must be the last of six stories about a special ring that has been handed down through generations of women. The ring glows when the woman finds her true love. It's a great story with a beautiful poem within about love.

Not what I expected!
It took a little time to get into this story, but it paid off in spades. Living through ancestors lives, to finding your own true love with all it's magic and mystery, this had to have it's well earned happy ever after!

What a sweet romance
Loved it. I wasn't sure about the book with the prologue. Not sure why I just was like this is going to be cheesy, but I was over taken with the character Rin and really liked it. Going to find the rest of the books and read them. Recommend you read this.

What a love story!
Best and romantic story. Roman and Varinia were awesome together and I'm happy for her sister, Augustina. Susan Stoker has captured me again with her characters.

Susan Stoker offered this book as a free book. I read it on Valentine's Day and loved it. It was different from her other books but a nice change. A ring that is passed down over the centuries from one woman to her eldest daughter that can bring love to the wearer.

This is a different premise than Susan's series. A bit quirky, but a nice read. I've heard that it wasn't well received, but I liked it. It is much shorter, as it was part of an anthology. Still it's a sweet little story. I hope you give it a try.

I'm all for soulmate stories and really like the twist this novella took on. I just wish this was a full length novel so it could've really fleshed the concept and the story out

This is a totally different book then I am used to by Susan Stoker. Never the less the characters are well developed. Though I really wanted to beat Tina up through most of the book. The two main characters are easy to love and both have faults and strengths. Though I felt like they fell instantly in love but maybe that was part of the fantasy part. I loved how the plot ebbed and flow. There are part in the beginning with the background that kind of drag on but there were hidden things throughout. There were even times when I wanted to yell at the main characters of things that were obvious. I highly recommend checking this book out.
