My gaming channel is number one, my sponsors keep coming and that’s just my online persona. In the real world, I’ve got some of the best friends ever.
I’ve got all I could ever want.
August Ryan
Determined. Competitive. Tired of coming in second place.
For months I’ve been competing with the hottest and most talented gamer girl for number one. Not even teaming up with her can get me that coveted top spot.
So I’m pulling out all the stops and taking this online competition into real life.
When two worlds collide, Rae finds a new happiness that she didn’t know she was missing but August isn’t so lucky.
Is there a future for these two rivals or will August be lost in a past he can’t leave behind?
Ugh! Yes! I adore books that involve anything nerdy! There are not a lot of them that truly revolve around comics, video games, books, tv fandoms, or anime. Soooo, when I find a series that does I literally read it in one or two days and begin a countdown for the next one.
I cannot wait to read the stories of Greer and Tuesday! (I absolutely love the names for the characters in these books!!!)
The Words for Nerds world is so much fun! I cannot get enough of Noralee, Tuesday, Greer, and Rae. Which is good news because this is the story of Rae and August!
August is swoony. I for real love this guy. He's sweet, arrogant, sexy. And who doesn't love a hot nerd? Rae is a gamer. She's the best of the best and doesn't need anyone.
Or does she?
Dive back into Words for Nerds and hang out with the best girl gang ever! And you can fall in love while you're there.
I am loving this series, I loved this book, and this series' cast of characters are my kind of people, I'm in nerdy geek girl heaven.
Without giving away important and/or story plot points I will simply say: gamers who bicker and banter, who are crushing on each other, and roll that all into a quirky romance. What's not to love?!
Throw in some Hitchhiker's Guide references, a gamer con event, Rae's crazy and fun loving besties and honestly I couldn't have loved this book more.
I CANNOT wait to see what Allie gives us next in the series!
This is such a super cute story! It's just fun and light hearted and filled with all the cute and sweet nerdy things. The revolves around these two online gamer personalities. Their banter was hilarious. I just loved every minute of it! Their meeting was a lot of fun! This was a book that I read with a big smile on my face. I loved the characters, the storyline was really fun and I enjoyed the writing. All the nerdy romance book lovers rejoice this is the perfect story for you!
“I’m pretty sure you’re my forty-two. I was stupid to let anything get in the way of that.” The blush creeps up her neck and across her cheeks. “Your forty-two?” Rae inches even closer so we’re nearly touching. “Life, universe, everything.” I remind her of the answer to the only question in her favorite book. “That was equal parts cheesy and nerdy.”

This book was soooo cute!!! Rae and August were so adorable!!
Rae is a gamer with a huge fan base and a series of lucrative contracts and sponsorships. To increase viewership she's been partnering with another gamer who she's never met. This is about them meeting, his reclusiveness and just how freaking cool she it.
More could have been done about his ex and her father.
This was a cool book! I loved all the nerdy gamer talk and the banter between Rae and August. It was a cute and funny read with a little bit of drama but it was mostly sweet and I loved the slow burn build up through their text messages and online banter... I thought it was amazing and clever and I enjoyed it so much! I definitely hope Tuesday and Leo get a book. I can tell it’s going to be good.. I also love all her sandwich combos and names . Excellent read!
Really enjoyed this book. Rae and August were both funny when talking to each other and Rae relationship with her friends was amazing.
The only thing was that it was a bit slow for me. There were parts where I skipped a couple paragraphs because they felt a little unnecessary and long winded. However in saying that I will be reading the others in the series as I enjoyed the characters.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this story, but I was pleasantly surprised how much an enjoyed it. August and Rhea are nerds at heart, game players that have great banters in their world leads to great chemistry. So cute how award they are especially as things heat up with them. Some drama, lots of funny moments and loads of heat level made for an entertaining read. I loved the friendship that Rhea has with the other characters in this series and I look forward to their story. This was my first read of the series and I was not disappointed.
I thought this was a great story from start to finish! As a gamer on an intermediate level, I loved reading about their play style and interactions during gameplay are pretty hilarious and entertaining with the right amount of snark and taunting. I absolutely LOVED the nerdy banter between Rae and August, and the fact that they're crushing on each other was adorkable! It's an easy and fun story to read with just a smidgen of drama to mix things up and I'm looking forward to reading more from Allie York.
I want to start by saying I did love the idea of this book and the nerdy side to both characters and her friends. I thought their banter was super cute and flirty. The things I didn’t like were the spicy scenes. I just felt like they could have been written better. It was lacking. But the thing that infuriated me and makes me rethink reading from this author was (SPOILER) the fact that the h slaps the H across the face when she was angry. This is just not okay. Physical violence on either side should not be tolerated by anyone.
This story was a fun and sweet read with a HEA but with a bit drama in it.👍👍👍👍 The gamer girl Rae and her virtual friend/enemy AR chatted and played for a few months. In a real meeting... sparks fly, but doubts as well.😉 A slow burning love story with a few secrets and problems. It was real interesting to read. August was just a tiny tiny bit whiny in the end of the book... but that's just my personal opinion🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️.
This series is getting better. I liked here Rae & August they made this book so entertaining and enjoyable to read (though I still love Noralee and her apartment). This book reminded of the webtoon called "Let's Play". I love these nerdy girls and their jokes and I'm crazy waiting for Tuesday's book with Leo. Nerds are the top thing! I hope that the author will write other series with nerds and geeks because I just love them.
Love love love love it! Not a gamer but I still adored this one. Great chemistry. I love how awkward both were in figuring out who each other were. chemistry was amazing.
Looking forward to Tuesday and Leo as well as Greece's stories. Following!
Talk Nerdy to Me definitely shows that gamers can fall in love. When two gaming frenemies collide, they will be lots of sparks. Love can be found anywhere...especially in a store called Word for Nerds.
Once again Allie York has done it!!! I LOVE her books! The characters are fun, relatable, funny, nerdy.... seriously from the first page to the last it's such an excellent read! I highly recommend this! I also love the Playlist listed in the back!
There is so much going for this book and I truly enjoyed the characters. My biggest issue is the final conflict. The couple didn't even have 24 hours between official relationship status and the hero walking out. Then she was super forgiving and understanding. There was zero grovelling.

I like the friends that own and operate Words with Nerds & Second Breakfast! August sounds like a total smoke show so I totally understood how Rea ended up crushing on him. It's a wonderful thing when your crush crushes back!
What better way to satisfy my inner nerd than this book? Rae and August are semi hot and cute together and their online/offline chemistry is at level 9000.
Very good book. I liked how their relationship progressed, they didn't rush it. Rae was such a spitfire, loved her. August was such a flirt and sweet too
