Entertaining romantic listening 🎶🔰

This was a free novella e-book from Amazon a five book series.

The story is about a woman 🚺 whose husband died and she is being chased by two men. One she has known over th centuries.

I would recommend this novella, series, and author to 👍 readers of romantic vampire slayer novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡😕

I have listened 🎶 to a number of novels by this author and not been disappointed.

Fate, still grieving from the loss of her husband Charles, finds herself inexplicably drawn to Devon, a mysterious and charismatic library guest. As their connection deepens, Fate's long-dormant "witchy senses" begin to tingle, and she's forced to confront the secrets she's been keeping from herself.

But Fate's newfound feelings for Devon are soon complicated by the arrival of another man, who pursues her with relentless intensity. As Fate navigates these treacherous emotional waters, she begins to experience strange flashes of memory and an insatiable hunger to reclaim the magical powers she abandoned during her marriage.

I found this storyline intriguing however, I wished the author had a more expansive vocabulary, as I found myself mentally substituting repetitive words with synonyms. Despite this, the story held my attention, and I appreciated the unique plot twists.

…I can see why this was free. Only read a page and a half and immediately DNF’d and deleted it from my kindle library.

OOO! A new series. This one is different from most. I enjoyed it. Two lost soul's meeting in different times. Being together for a short time. Then Fate gets killed, then it starts over again. Started in 1833 to the present time. The story was just starting to get to the good part then it is over. Next story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Great

This is a great story with a great storyline and characters. I loved the action and the suspense of going through papers to loving with a vampire.

I enjoyed this book. A good story. Liked the characters and the action. Also Gates weakening. She was so sure she knew Charles. Surprise.

If I could I would give this 0/5. It was a DNF for me. The plot was incoherent, the characters whet honestly horrible. That dead husband of hers?? Like why girl why??? The second he died I would have been like bye. She literally married a guy that abused his position not physically but instead he used her as a SERVANT. and then comes the MMC, and he is nice and all but then she doesn’t remember anything and then all of a sudden she gets flashbacks of her past lives?? Oh and then the “villain” and her dead husband basically have the same name so that’s an added bonus for confusion. And like this woman has two men literally stalking her (she is fine with one of them) and the other one just doesn’t get that she DOES NOT WANT HIM and her work buddies see this and yet they do NOTHING. No calling the police, no security, just “let’s just hope he doesn’t get any women assistants for his research”. I get why this book was free. I can’t believe I waisted hours of my life with this. Don’t recommend it and don’t want to see this pop up again. Sorry author but you also got to get your editors to proof read better since there where also so many tipos and errors throughout the book.

I’m literally starting to think that the reason why this book has 3.48 stars (10/28/24) is that it has paid reviews or bot accounts reviewing it mostly

This is a standard vampire romance novel set in a fantasy world. A human girl is chosen to be a "blood bride" for a powerful, ancient vampire king. She has to live in his castle and navigate the dangerous Fae politics of the vampire court. She eventually falls in love with him, but a rival vampire wants her for himself, leading to a lot of drama and fighting. The plot is a classic dark romance with a paranormal twist.
The spoilers involve the main character being revealed to be a powerful Fae hybrid who is the true queen of the vampires, not the king's bride. She has to fight the rival vampire and eventually team up with the king to take back her throne. The book ends with her and the king ruling together, but a new threat emerges, promising a sequel with higher stakes.
I'm giving this a 2/5 because the characters are very stereotypical, and the plot is very predictable. It doesn't offer anything new to the genre and relies on basic tropes. The writing is fine, but it’s not a book that will stick with you after you read it.

I genuinely don't think I can put this in any other shelves because this book has left me confused with a ton of questions. Granted, this is the first book of the series, but I don't think this is the book for me. Will I at least give the second one a try? Yes, because I already bought them all before reading the first one (Triple Point day got me good).

This was just genuinely a middle of the road book for me. Fate's backstory is interesting, and she's just kind of taking everything that comes up or is thrown at her a little too well. Devon is also just kind of going with the flow and there for her after showing up. Charles is a whole other thing. I feel like there needs to be explanation as to what is going on rather than just 'here's something new that will keep us moving along in the story with little to no processing of it'. It makes everything seem less believable, which since this is a book I know not everything will be, but it's just hard to connect with.

I listened to it for free on Apple Books and you can clearly tell why it’s a free book. The person who’s reading it did a terrible job. She couldn’t differentiate between characters very well and it was basically no tell in her voice between the main character speaking or her internal thoughts. The book has hardly any plot and barely if at all keeps up with explaining the timeline to events. Then the story ends midway through the book, I guess to start book 2? Makes no sense how it ended on a cliff hanger mid conversation.
It also makes no sense how fate goes from mourning her dead husband to being completely obsessed with a vampire from her old life. I understand they’re connected but it doesn’t give much info on it other then she hits her head and old life memories pop up but she doesn’t have the ability to reach much of them to understand any of them. It doesn’t tell how or why they have a connect for her to meet him and suddenly be completely unhinged obsessed with him.

Okay... look. I know the book was free, but what the hell was that? The premise was so good, I wanted to like this book so bad. Honestly, with some stylistic changes it could've been a three star, but why does the main character get in an argument with a housekeeper who was doing her job? Like a lot of the banter I can play off as "quirky" but I'm supposed to side with her when she freaks out on a housekeeper wanting to know why this person she's never seen before is rummaging around the kitchen... I just feel like you can tell a whole lot about a person when you see how they treat people who they see as "beneath" them. Total character assassination for no payoff. Sorry for the rant, but like what the hell, dude...

2.5☆

It wasn't a bad story, but the writing was chaotic, and because of that, it was difficult to read and follow.

For Example- in Chapter 3, she's having a conversation with her boss. Her inner monolog describes in detail her boss' appearance and clothing choices after the conversation ends, and she goes back to checking in books. The very next paragraph starts, "I realize I have been staring about the same time he realizes he has been staring as well."

I had to flip back and forth, trying to find out where this new character came into the picture, and there's nothing. So we end up missing a lot of details, and the transition doesn't make sense.

This is a great story about Fate who is a witch she is trying to deal with the death of her husband she meets Charlie who gives her the creeps he pays attention to Fate which she doesn’t enjoy, Fate runs into Devon who is a vampire and suddenly she see’s things from her past life with Devon. Fate knows that she is meant to be with Devon but every time they try to be together Fate is murdered but this time she is going to try and fight her fate. This is a great story I enjoyed it immensely and I recommend this book.

Oh what a goodie

Loved this book. It is such a fun read. A witch and a vampire or two. Lots of winding things around in this. Do they really connect? Does she remember it all? How did she become so rich? What exactly was her late husband into? I could answer the question for you but I think you need to get your own copy.

Dates been around longer than she knows and has had an ongoing “fate” herself. Join the ride as she finds out the “dearly departed” aren’t as “dear” as she thought. And how a perfect stranger may be perfect, but not a stranger after all

There were clearly some editing issues with this novel, as well as time gaps with unexplained exposition and a random perspective switch. It really bothered me that different characters would have dialogue in the same paragraph and there were no qualifiers to let me know who was talking.
