Seeing dead people and solving their murders is Darby Adler's bread and butter.

What's not on the menu?

A nosy Fed poking around her crime scenes who seems to know a hell of a lot more than he's saying--especially about the ghosts surrounding Darby and the murderer who's desperate for her attention.

I don't think this is a bad read by any stretch of the imagination I just think maybe I picked this one up at the wrong time and I couldn't get into it. I would definitely be open to trying book two some other time though and giving this series another go! ...more

Just when I think I've read everything, Annie blows my mind. Hiding her ability to speak with the dead, Darby has built up a rather huge chip on her shoulder. She keeps few close but cares fiercely for them.

This story jumps straight into the fire and does not stop. Twists, turns and ripe with secrets, we watch Darby not only work out the mystery, but also the secrets that shroud her own past.

Annie has created some very creative and quirky characters. Her friendship with J is friendship goals.

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Annie Anderson!

Dead To Me is the first book in the Grave Talker series and tells the story of Darby and her friends.

I loved the Rogue Ethereal series by Annie Anderson and when I found out she was writing another Fantasy series, I was so excited! I was such a big fan of Max and the Rogue Ethereal world and when I started reading Dead To Me it felt like reading about Max again. Darby is so much lik

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and definitely will NOT be the last. This book was just wow. Firstly, it’s written beautifully. It flows perfectly like a song or poem. I flew right through it. Couldn’t put it down. Super easy to rad and follow along with.

This book was super captivating. Darby, our heroine, is sarcastic, brave, smart, and can talk to ghosts. She’s a kicka** woman that makes this whole story super enjoyable. With her unlikely group of allies they must come togethe

What a freaking ride this book is. I was enthralled from the first sentence to the very last. I am so excited to start book two I can barely get through this review. These characters are so real and I love each of them. Amazing story and so well written. I would give this book ten stars if possible.

I am always looking for new urban fantasy series to read and I have found another one I can't wait to continue. The reader was thrown right into the action with Darby from the first page and the fast pacing and world building, never getting a moment to stop right up to the shocking cliffhanger ending! And I would not change anything about the experience. Just know that I will be here for all the adventures with Darby to come.

This lady deserves an award for the level of expletives that she is cap

I know when I read a book by Ms. Anderson, I know there will be a kick butt female lead and a side characters that you’ll root for. Her books always get me out of a reading funk especially when I need a genre change. Dead to Me introduced me to Darby and while they had her chasing the bad guy it also did some world building for what I hope will be a fun new series.

Darby is a police officer with some extra razzle dazzle in her arsenal. You see Darby can speak and sense the dead it’s

"It was not a good feeling to have a homicide less than a block from my house." So begins the story of Darcy Adler, a cop who can see and talk to ghosts. "How many people in this town know you can see ghosts?" Darby is good at her job (partly due to her unique ability) and doesn't appreciate a nosy FBI agent trying to horn in on the case. However, there is much more to Bishop La Roux than she first thinks.

As Darby and her longtime friend and partner Jeremiah "J" try to find the murderer, things

I will start off by saying I absolutely love the writing style in this book and really enjoyed how fast paced it was. I instantly was drawn into this story and I devoured this book in one sitting!

Darby Adler has the ability to see and talk to ghosts, which really comes in handy on the job as a cop. I loved the friendship that she had with her partner, J. J was such an entertaining character in my opinion and I hope to read even more about him in the next book! I also knew that as soon as the cha

"Dead to Me” the first installment in the “Grave Talker Series” by Annie Anderson is a fantastic star into a new series, good, solid, classic urban fantasy,

Darcy Adler is a cop working with her best friend as partner in Haunted Peaks, a place with the soul of a town and the population of a small city. After a rather draining case, Darcy’s only wish is to fall in bed and sleep until… the doorbell rings in the middle of the night, as her partner scoops her up to the latest crime scene (well, not

Anderson introduces us to an incredible new world in Dead to Me. Darby Adler is a detective with the Haunted Peak Police Department. The thing with Darby is that she can see and communicate with the dead, a gift (and a curse) she uses often in her job. Along side her partner and life long bestie, J Cooper, these two have a new case that is clearly a lot more than it seems. On top of the disturbing murder, there’s a Fed snooping around Darby, a Fed who might know more than he lets on.

This is a new series by Annie and I loved it. Darby sees dead people and talks to them. They sometimes help her with her job as a cop. Something is happening in her town and she needs to figure out what it is. Quickly so she can get rid of the Fed that’s in town. Not everything is as it seems. Darby is in it deeper than she realizes. This book was an amazing read. I love everything she has written. Just when I think she can’t get any better she does. This book was a fantastic start to the series ...more

This is a fantastic book to start the Grave Talker series!! I love every single book that I have read from Annie and this one is no exception. Darby is one sassy, strong and capable heroine, who can see and communicate with ghosts. It comes in handy at times in her position as a police officer. All the characters are so likable and entertaining. There is lots of action, including the supernatural kind, witty dialogue, suspense and secrets. I can't wait for book 2. Darby sees dead people but she keeps it a secret because she is a cop and has an interesting way of solving murders. I loved all the interesting characters in this book especially Darby because she is a fun, strong character with a great head on her shoulders. This is a fantastic start to what looks like a great series. I really loved this book and I was kind of sad when I read the last page. It just made me anxious to read the next book to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of ...more

Excellent start to a new series!!

Well color me a rainbow because this was so uniquely colorful! I’m hooked! I meant what I said- excellent way to start a new series. And a whole new outlook to a ghost talker. I can’t give away too many things because I like mystery and surprise in a book, but I love that she’s a law enforcement agent. I love a good mystery wrapped in with the fantasy side. I like that there’s a lot to build on but a great look- a peak- into a backstory that I think is gunna end

Very entertaining

This was a very entertaining book. I love PNR but this one was a bit too short. I understand that it’s a series, but now I have to wait for next year for the next one! I really liked the characters and cannot wait to unravel all these secrets and see how Darby’s powers develop.

From the moment I began reading the first chapter I knew this was a one sitting book. I didn’t want to stop reading it. Before long I had hit the 50% mark and just didn’t want it to end. I wanted to draw out the rest in the hopes that it didn’t end. Of course it had to, as all books do, I fell into the story and did not want to escape. The beginning of the book effectively introduces you to some key players whilst jumping head first into the story.

Yet again Annie Anderson has created a strong i

Great new series! If the rest of the books in the series are anything like the 1st, I can't wait! As usual Annie Anderson writes a top notch book! Love the characters and the plot. It's so hard to brag about the book without spoiling it. Darby is amazing, I love sassy, feisty women characters. Hildy is a hoot and a half. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble they get into in the upcoming books. I just know they will!

This is a brand new series from Annie, and okay girl! I see you! Such a good book, and not your normal book set up. Magic, detectives, magical detectives? Great build up and straight to the action from page 2. Annie has done it again and I recommend picking up a copy of Dead to Me and getting to know Darby and her crew!

What a start! This girl is a firecracker, and that is before she started talking to ghosts.

There are no holds barred, in this kick ass story! The best part, I know that as the series progresses she will get stronger and better. A ghosts best friend and a bad guys worst enemy, Dead to Me is a great read!

I LOVED Darby. She has secrets and sees ghosts which tends to be helpful in her work as a homicide detective. She's funny and thinks on her feet but there is a new case and there's a fed hanging around that might be more than he seems. Darby is a very likeable character and I loved her from the beginning. This is a fast paced read but the characters are well developed and the mystery intriguing. The series looks like a winner from the start. ...more

This is a great read and a great first book in the series. Annie has done a great job of building a world that I want to know more about. I love that the main character is a strong woman trying to navigate all the changes her world is throwing at her. Great characters and a whole lot of magic make this a don’t miss read.

Annie Anderson has done it again! I love Darby and this new cast of characters.
Nothing is quite as it seems in the mountains of Tennessee, and Darby, her ghostly friends, and partner are in for one heck of a ride.
Darby takes a not-so-welcome crash course into what-the-heck territory to learn who she really is, and she's not at all happy about it at first. The ending will shock you and turn you on your ear! I was not expecting that. At. All.
