This book was absolutely perfect for my son. He loves bugs and exploring our backyard just like Cody and Anna. He has a bug book with charts on all different kinds of insects and he always wants to go try and find them. The most interesting one we found so far was a grouping of old large snail shells that look like they belong in the ocean. The story is a wonderful adventure and the illustrations are some of the best I have seen. I love the detail and depth of the illustrations giving you up close views of the bugs. The best part is most of these bugs can be found right in your own backyard. You will see spiders, ants, caterpillars, butterflies, fireflies, beetles, millipedes, cicadas, and more. Be ready to go exploring with your kids after reading this book. It is a great way to engage your kids in reading and create some adventure of their own. The book provides fun facts as well as the correct pronunciation of bugs. I can picture this book being in school libraries.
