CUDDLE CLOSE, LITTLE KOALA is a sweet story of the special connection between mother and child. Little Koala is lost and sets out in search of Mommy Koala. Along the way, she encounters other baby animals with their mothers, who try to help comfort her. She thanks them, but none of it is as great as that from her own mother. Finally, Little Koala finds Mommy Koala and can settle down to sleep.

What I loved: This is a beautifully illustrated story about the special connection between mother and child. Great for bedtime, this book talks about the special things mothers do to help soothe their babies and help them settle down to sleep, such as lullabies, hugs, and stories. The other animals and Little Koala are really cute and fun to view alongside the sunset colors of bedtime. This book is a little dense for young toddlers but would be great for older toddlers and preschoolers.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the font is sometimes black against a dark background which makes it difficult to read in low-lighting settings like at bedtime (where this book really shines).

Final verdict: A sweet bedtime book about the special connection between mother and child, CUDDLE CLOSE, LITTLE KOALA is a beautifully illustrated story about love.

Little Koala gets lost in the forest and searches for Mommy Koala at bedtime. All the other baby animals are snuggling in for a good night's sleep with Mommy Wombat, Mommy Emu, and Mommy Platypus. When they try to soothe Little Koala with a hug or a lullaby, it just isn't the same as a hug or lullaby from Mommy Koala.

This picture book is adorable! Cute Little Koala is so sweet, and she's very polite to all the other animals mothers who try to sing to her or tell her a bedtime story. She says thank you, but thinks to herself that it isn't the same as a lullaby or story from her own mother. The whole story is just lovely!

The illustrations are beautiful with soft lines and gentle colors! Everything in the forest is winding down for the night, and the velvety illustrations are just right for a soothing bedtime mood. The story begins at sunset, and the illustrations show a golden sky gradually darkening until the stars are shining in a dark blue background.

Everything about this book is delightful!

This was the sweetest, most perfect story for bedtime with little ones. The story begins with a group of young koalas playing in the treetops just before dusk. The mother koalas call their babies to come home, but Little Koala gets a little distracted along the way. He leaps toward the first bit of grey fur he sees, but soon realizes it is Mommy Wombat. She gives him a goodnight hug and sends him on his way. As he makes his way home, he encounters other mothers putting their babies to bed-- this includes Mommy Platypus telling bedtime stories and Mommy Emu singing songs. Although this was all wonderful, it was not his mother and he was starting to get very worried. Little Koala and Mommy Koala are reunited--just in time for their own bedtime ritual.

Young children will enjoy the illustrations provided by Sarah Ward. The pictures show the vibrant colors of the environment such as red flowers, green lizards, purple bugs, orange birds, and the lush landscape of foliage and streams. The animals all have sweet little faces that will be very appealing to small children. It is also fun to watch Little Koala get sleepier and sleepier as the story progresses.

As little ones often do, Little Koala is reluctant to stop playing and get ready for bedtime. She ignores her mother when her mother gives her a five-minute warning and climbs further into the trees. She quickly becomes lost and confused and wants to go home. Following various signs that seem to be clues as to where her mother is, she encounters various friendly mother animals, including a wombat, a platypus, and an emu. Even though they are kind, offering a hug, a story, and a lullaby, nothing's quite as perfect as affection from her mother. Little Koala is relieved and reassured once she finds her mother. Finally, she can fall asleep, secure in her mother's love. This book is sure to provide assurance to youngsters that they, too, are cherished and safe in their mother's arms. The illustrations in the book show Little Koala's growing alarm and the gentleness of the other animal mothers in the jungle.

Suloinen iltasaduksi soveltuva kuvakirja. Tarinassa on suloisia eläinperheitä iltapuuhissaan. Ei varsinaisesti mitään uutta auringon alla, pidin Australiaan sijoittuvasta miljööstä tässä kuvakirjassa.
