Loved it!

This book totally promotes views against what I want my child to view as important. Real animals are pets. Robots are not. And robots can't sniff. Enough with the AI.

This is my first taste of Pinkalicious and, honestly, I found the story pretty cute. However, the central characters in the book all appear to be white. There are some unnamed characters, at least unnamed in this particular book, that don't appear to be white but the focus is certainly Allison, Peter, and the narrator. I also would have appreciated some disability representation in the illustrations.

I read this to Julianna today. She gives it 5 stars. She says she likes the book because Robo-pup saved the dog that ran away. Another short cute story of Pinkalicious's & cute illustrations.

My daughter recently found this series at the library and is smitten. Me, less so. I find Pinkalicious, her name, and her idiosyncrasies fairly cringe, but I digress. In this particular installment, Pinkalicious and her brother, Peter, bring a robot dog that their mother built to a pet contest. I'm not sure what the moral of this story is supposed to be. Robo-Pup is not particularly different from other dogs, his feats not out of the ordinary for a dog trained to sniff and find. So, I suppose, the moral is that AI beings are just like us and should be embraced as so? A potentially interesting premise, but not one well-executed by Kann in this story. I'm not convinced.

I liked how pink it was. It was kind of sad that they never paid attention to Robo-Pup, but I'm happy that in the end, Robo-Pup saved the day. I'm glad they got a trophy.
