That was a good read. This time the theme seems to be family relationship and how it influences people and their future.

Gumdrop Angel - the story is easy to predict but still it was very well written and it makes you care about the main character, which is never good in Fnaf world since most stories don't end well. I absolutely hated the father in this story, worst kind of person, the mother wasn't really better. Honestly, without any spoilers, the most disturbing thing of the story to me was the very beginning with the big surprise of the party. What person especially parent looks at this event and think it's normal?

Sergio's Lucky Day - This was an interesting story. The ending is not easy to predict, which was really nice. Also the last scene and the last line were just on point, love it. The story is slow paced but to me the ending makes up for it. It's also very well written because you understand the character and feel for him but then you end up with so many mixed feelings about him. I really liked how the animatronic was working here, it was very clever and it kept reader on edge.

What he found - I really liked this story. If you pay attention to details it's easy to see how it will end but oh boy, the way to the ending was long and very well written. I liked that we get to know the main character as a person first and only after a time we get glimpses of his past and why he is the way he is. I did not expect this particular animatronic to make appearance but it was absolutely awesome and the whole action at the end was so good! It's not easy to write such sequences and it was just so well done I couldn't stop reading. Very good story.

Each story had strong points. In the first you really feel for the main character and there is new addition to the lore, the second has the most clever use of animatronic and the third has the best horror aspect.

As for the story at the end I absolutely love what is happening! So many new things and possibilities! Can't wait for the next issue!

as these books go on, I’m not seeing the hype that everyone else is.

gumdrop angel- a super unfair story about an 18 year old attempting to start her life after her mother basically ruins it by marrying a crappy guy that won’t give “her daughter” a thing. by “thing” I mean he won’t buy her necessities, pay for her college (that she’s very likely to succeed in), things like that. one issue with this story was the fact that a snobby family would even be caught at a Freddy’s, let alone their kid eat a FULL human-sized gummy woman? like wtf, talk about naaasty. so that really blew my mind, and we’re already talking about super unrealistic things because of the nature of these stories, yet little details like that just ruin it for me. then he buys “his daughter” two horses, spends ridiculous amounts of money on her, blah blah. i was bummed to see the only good character in the story basically just die, like does good even prevail in these stories?

Sergio’s lucky day- I was excited that balloon boy (lucky boy) was involved in this story but that was about the extent of it, lol. the body horror at the end was ok, but where tf did that even come from? I wish it would’ve focused more on Sergio absolutely losing his mind instead of casually cutting from his new job going well to him hacking his body parts off.

what we found- what…the hell was this? there was WAY too much scenery painting for NO reason. we understand the building is a replica of Freddy’s, ok move on! people can look up photos or watch videos of the third game to get the damn idea. i don’t understand why there was SO much description to every detail. I haven’t felt the urge to skim the pages for important details like I did with this story. it was bad. and all for a mediocre ending that I think we all saw coming. idk, not a fan. Idc if a story references one of the games (that I’ve actually played) if the stories suck, they just suck.

This book is a much-needed comeback. The last two were alright, but this one feels so much more like FNAF. The first story has a weird and interesting premise, and even though it’s spoiled right on the front cover, I think it still works. The second is a tad too long, especially since the gore only happens at the end, but I’d say it’s worth it, and the antagonist is one we know and love. The third story is wild. An antagonist we know, a location we know, obvious parallels to the games, this one’s the clear winner of the book. Maybe a bit more of the antagonist would be good, but this is already their second story, so I’ll take it. The eighth volume is great.

I want so badly to enjoy these stories bc FNAF holds a place in my heart thanks to my daughter and our familial obsession with the fandom, but man these novels just have such stupid shit in them. They're written for younger kids, preteens at minimum, and while there's no issue with the descriptions of violence, the stories usually follow teenagers or young adults that are just really fucking stupid, selfish, or just don't behave in realistic manners lol.

I get that it's sort of following the Goosebumps style of reader beware- act like a little shit like this and it could happen to YOU sort of thing, like be careful what you wish for etc, but they lay it on so thick! Very heavy handed and unrealistic. A part of being scared while reading horror is being able to see yourself in the characters.

A teenager who bullies and looks down upon a 5 year old for looking apeish like her father, slapping pizza out of the girl's hand.

A 20 something year old architecture prodigy who has no social skills or common sense whatsoever.

I felt bad for the last guy but what do you expect to happen working as a security guard at a haunted Freddy Fazbear Frights location?

And can we not have to read things like "Olivia flirted by rubbing her chest on the guy sitting next to her" while the girlfriend seeing that guy noticed, and flung mashed potatoes at her? Come on. Girls don't flirt like that. Who the hell rubs their boobs on someone to flirt?

And at a gathering of professionals no woman is going to confront someone flirting with their guy by flinging potatoes across the table for something so slight. Let's not show our kids that's how real life is lol. Boob rubbing sounds like what a dude would say a woman flirts like in a poorly written novel but this was written by a woman!

It's embarrassing. Embarrassing for the fandom and for writers in general lol.

I enjoyed this volume in general, I really liked the first and the third story – they had that good mix of likable main character and the horror of how Fazbear destroyed their lives. The second one, unfortunately, dragged on for too long – the ending was great but the overall pacing was off.

So I absolute hated the first story (Gumdrop Angel), and the second (Lucky Boy) was super boring in my opinion. The only thing worth reading is the third story (What We Found) and the Stitchwrath story at the end.

Gumdrop Angel angered me because, for one, the main character is a mini-karen. Biggest example is she wants her stepdad to pay for her college but she doesn't want to be part of his family. She horrible to her step sister, a five older! Like that kid done nothing to her, but try and be sisters, and she a complete jerk to her. So, she expect her stepdad, who she openly hates, to give her everything and allow her to treat his kid like dirt. Acting like she deserves his money. Maybe he was the jerk first, but that doesn't make you entitled to his money. Plus her problem was easy fix. Wait until you graduate, move in with friend sooner, than reapply for loan. You got it before, once you moved out, you'd get again. I've done this, to a degree.
Secondly, she such a hypocrite! She says she doesn't care about looks like her mom, but than she compares her looks for her step sister. Calling a five year old ugly, and herself pretty. She talk about how she doesn't do fashion, but than says she wears retro-thrift clothes and looks good enough for a date. That being into fashion if that's the style you look to wear! Otherwise it just be called flowery shirt and jean pants, something along those lines. It goes on and on. She was a horrible person. I was just boring and annoyed, waiting for her to die. I didn't even enjoy the ending, I was just ready for it to be done.
Lucky Boy was just boring. It was pretty obvious how it was going to go. Truth is, with or without the toy, this was a miserable person. Nothing was ever going to live up to his standards, cause he felt like he was good enough.
What We Found was a good story, really wished that it had a happier ending, but I knew I wasn't getting that. Mostly cause it was based off the 3rd game, so I kind of knew. Good for lore, sad for Hudson.

Did they have a super short deadline to churn this one out? All 3 stories were just "meh" in this collection. Normally there's at least one that is spooky and engaging, not so much here. The titular story is spoiled by the title and front cover and was probably the least satisfying. The last story tied in to FNAF3 but was so slow. Same with the second story, it was long and slow and just shoehorned in some last minute gore for a shock ending but felt like a cheap payoff.

This was mostly just 2 gross stories. No real suspense that I enjoy with these sort of fun little things. They just dragged. Also, I didn't really like how the bad things happened to the good people in these stories and the bad people went unpunished. Normally the character's flaw is their downfall and it's fun to see how their hubris brings them down but in here they were good people who didn't deserve their fates and it wasn't satisfying at all.

the first two stories rlly put me off, especially gumdrop angel simply bc of how sucky the ending was, but then again, is it rlly a fazbear frights story if the main character doesn't get a bad ending?? (except for u, oswald, ur literally the only exception [and maybe bob, but he sucks so]).

the final story though.......the second they said "fazbear frights attraction" i lost my mind. and when they brought in springtrap????? LOST IT YET AGAIN. i feel bad for hudson, he didn't deserve an end like that after all the shit he'd been through :(( nonetheless, this story and the stitchwraith stinger are the only reasons why i gave this book 4 stars :)

I would give this book a four star rating, if only for the third story which I feel is the redeeming story. The first and third were the best in my opinion, and this book wasn't as much fun to read as fetch, but it was a good read and the stories were enjoyable. Can't wait to read another fazzbear frights book 👹

All stories had charachters in really shitty situations you could really emphasize with (especially #3.) That mixed with the uncanny/horrifying plotlines (especially in #3) made this one hard to put down. Not the best Fazbear Frights book, but far from the worst. What we found is up there with the best short stories in this series.

Enjoyable, quick and very uncanny!

Ugh. I hate how much I enjoyed this one because every time I think I'm getting bored with this series and don't like a collection, there's a really freaking great one. The body horror in this one is obscenely gross and really, really reminds me of the old 90s animorphs and goosebump series'.

I really only read the first story and man oh man was it one of the best collections in this series. I'm talking it ranks up there with Fetch and Blackbird. This review is pretty much only gonna be for Gumdrop Angel. Sorry to the other two, but you were mad stanky. Get good, scrub. My favorite FNAF stories are when they literally take place in the pizzeria or arcade. I don't care for the ones that are faintly linked to William Afton or hint at a possible employee. Give me crazed animatronics or give me death! Gumdrop Angel features a young lady named Angel who is jealous of her stepsister. The kid seems sweet but our protagonist straight up likens her to a baby chimpanzee. I was gagged in my car, but thankfully she didn't say that to her face. Angel was a lil brat complaining about her life despite living in the mansion of her new stepdad. I mean I get it a little bit, but read the room, girl. Angel eats her sister's birthday gumdrop that they stated multiple times at her Freddy Fazbear party that only the stepsister gets to eat. She ate that candy and you can guess what happens. I won't spoil the ending, but it was bonkers. This was definitely one of the better novellas and I would love to see this incorporated into a future game. This story reinforced my disdain for gumdrops even more. They're so gross, dude.

I chosed this book because i had read the previes books in the series and i had already kown the works of scot cawthon. I already know was a horror book from the cover alone and also cus scott makes a lot of books (i know that scott isnt the only writer but im too lazy to say their names) the book is about a girl named angle becoming a gumdrop. The book is an avrage scott cawthon book (his is alot diff from the other horor books) i felt normal durring reading the book not realy scared nor happy just nothingness. I already know the next book is gonna be bop.

But hey its jist a theory a book theory ;) thanks for reading (i love matpat :))

Frazbear Frights “Gumdrop Angel” is the first installment in the series where I left feeling completely underwhelmed, and disappointed. As somebody who’s not the targeted audience but LOVES FNAF, I’ve been fond of the series. Even though usually one or two of the stories are disappointing, there is one STANDOUT story that makes the whole thing worth it… gumdrop Angel does not have a standout story, let’s got through all 3.

Gumdrop Angel - probably the best of the three, but it’s a solid 3 star read. I think the set up and actual “horror” of Angel turning into a gummy statue is actually pretty creepy. Her love interest being apart of the whole thing was pretty sad and I found it pretty horrifying. My BIG problem with this story is the main character - Angel. Angel is by far the worst character written in the book. We’re made to like Angel, and while I feel sorry for her situation of being in an abusive household and not having her parents support her, her taking out all of her frustrations on her 5 year old sister is not a good thing. While Ophelia is spoiled, she doesn’t DO anything to Angel and Angel, in return is a terrible sister. It got to the point where once Angel started turning into a gummy, I didn’t really feel all to bad.

Sergio’s Lucky Day - Yet again, another terribly written character. Sergio is better written in the sense that I understand why he’s doing everything he’s doing, it doesn’t make him any better. While he’s girlfriend and neighbors are terrible he should respond by being terrible. This is probably the most “lore” adding to the actual series, and I found it riveting to see how much power Lucky Boy had over Sergio but my other HUGE gripe is it literally isn’t until the last 4 pages actual… horror starts, yknow the thing this whole book is about? While the ending is actually pretty creepy the fact it doesn’t start until the end is unforgivable

What We Found - easily the most boring, and towards the end I just was saying “when will this end.” While this has the longest stretch of horror, and I actually think Hudson is a really tragic character, the actual story is boring. Spring trap mimicking all his enemies and Hudson going crazy is pretty sad, but nothing great.

All tgoether, this installment lags in character writing, story writing, and just lacked a really stellar story or anything really groundbreaking, which sucks as usually Frazbear Frights installs very good stories.

*Spoiler Free*

This is the eighth instalment in the "Fazbear Frights" collection. Just like the previous books, this book features 3 independent stories. "Gumdrop Angel", "Sergio's Lucky Day" and "What We Found". The first story, "Gumdrop Angel" is certainly a weird one. The main character is honestly pretty relatable, she has a stepfather who treats her differently than her sister and a mom that's trying her best. The way the story goes is definitely strange, but you might find it interesting. "Sergio's Lucky Day" features a toy that sounds a lot like the most unlikable character in the entire FNAF franchise, aka. Balloon Boy. Now the doll that Sergio finds is never called Balloon Boy (in fact it goes under a different, but eerily similar name), but the connections are uncanny and definitely intentional. The ending to this book is CRAZY, so I would certainly check it out. The last story, "What We Found" is my favorite in this book. I'll be honest, if you haven't played some of the games (at least the main four) then a lot of the stuff in this book will go over your head. This story is a direct reference to the story of FNAF 3. That's all I'll say. This book is probably my least favorite in the whole series right now. Gumdrop Angel was weird and Sergio's Lucky day had a very strange ending. I would give this a 3 star, but What We Found was an amazing story. I would still pick this book up so you can continue on with the collection, and who knows, maybe you'll like the first two stories better than I did.

Gumdrop Angel: Ok I did feel really sorry for Angel for she did not deserve anything that happened to her in this story. But I do like how creative it does became with the imagery and what actually happens to her is nice pay off as it is a horrifying image.
Sergio's Lucky Day: This is probably my favorite of the bunch as it does have a nice build up and you do feel really sorry for Sergio by the end of it but the ending scene is great pay off as you see Sergio slowly lose his mind because of the Lucky Boy toy he finds. It is understandable why he does what he does because you see just everything going for him and just how desperate he is forced to be.
What We Found: A nice attempt at more psychological horror and I do like they pay homage to Five Nights at Freddy's 3 and Spring Trap as I do not think they have done that before. And I do like what they did with Springtrap and how you are not really sure why it all happened. Did Springtrap really come to life or did Hudson just snap. I do like it is left vague about what happened to him in the story especially as you learn just how much of a messed up life he was forced to live.

This was the only one my local library had.

I assumed "Oh, I can just jump in at any point, it's a series of short story collections".

I don't care to find out if I was right.

Friends, this book is horrendous. FNaF elements barely appear after the first story, the endings are unnecessarily depressing/lethal/generally gross despite how much effort the authors put into making you root for the doomed characters, and the (admittedly very well-executed) horror bits are greatly overshadowed by how much you want any character, any other character, to be in this situation, because the first half of the story forced you to root for the victim, only for them to be killed off in some bizarre, easily avoided way. I don't feel like writing a long review; just go read the Silver Eyes trilogy instead.

I enjoyed this book, but my main gripe about this whole series remains. The endings to each story feel incomplete. We're supposed to imply what happens to each character(Angel turns into the gummy and is eaten by children, Sergio mutilates himself to the point of his flesh falling off, and Hudson burns to death in the oven), but I wish the way things were described were more detailed. The stories themselves are great, but the endings aren't satisfying.

Claire sighed. "You've lost your mind.
Riding in the console as always these days, Lucky Boy giggled.
Claire picked up Lucky Boy and shook the toy in Sergio's direction. "And you play with dolls."
Sergio grabbed for Lucky Boy. "Put him down!" He turned to look at Claire, and the truck swerved.
Claire held Lucky Boy away from Sergio. "You've started treating it like a guru, and I was going along with it. But really, Sergio. It's a tchotchke, a doll, a little statue. It's not your personal guide through life. If you think it is, you're a weirdo." Claire pressed the button to lower her window. "You need to get rid of this thing." She raised her arm to toss Lucky Boy out of the truck.
Sergio lunged for Lucky Boy, and as he did, he wrenched the wheel.

Finally back into Frights after reading all the Tales books I could get my hands on. Was excited to finish this one because I was really enjoying it, and it did end up being mostly a good book, the best since Fazbear Frights #2: Fetch!

The first and titular story is Gumdrop Angel, which surprised me with its quality. It's about a girl named Angel who dislikes her family (especially her younger sister) and eventually can't take it anymore. Now, that undeniably sounds very similar to Lonely Freddy from the second book (which is quite a bit better), but I think Gumdrop Angel manages to find is own identity and land it well. The story takes two risks at once; an experimental premise that is untraditional to the FNaF franchise plus a greater focus on emotions than horror, both of which are hit-or-miss concepts for this series. But to my surprise, I found myself thoroughly interested and moved by this narrative. I'd give it a 4/5 stars.

The second story is Sergio's Lucky Day and it has instantly become one of my new favourites. It's about an architect named Sergio whose life is turned around when he discovers a strange talking figurine that seems to bring him great luck. I adored this story, although many will not. A lot of it is less straight up horror and more 'this is actually quite light-hearted, perhaps even comedic, but I'm so tense this whole time because I know this is a horror story so what's going to happen' which worked really well to me. And that ending... boy, it delivers on the tension hard. Combine this with a bit of character bias, as the figurine Sergio finds is a variant of Balloon Boy from Five Nights at Freddy's 2, one of my favourite characters in the franchise! That's why this story is so special to me, and why I'm giving it a 4.5/5 stars.

The third story, What We Found, is what unfortunately prevents this book from being a home run. It's about a man named Hudson whose life has been filled with abuse and letdowns, so he ends up taking a job at the Fazbear's Fright Horror Attraction to make ends meet. Many will notice this story is essentially a direct adaptation of the concept behind Five Nights at Freddy's 3, where a horror attraction based on Freddy Fazbear's Pizza is being prepared and the organisers find Springtrap, a classic mascot suit with the corpse of a notorious serial killer trapped inside. Hence the guard must survive against him when the rotten animatronic is introduced into the building. However, What We Found takes a pretty subversive approach by focusing a lot on Hudson's trauma, really just amping up the sadness while the animatronic horror feels more like a side note. It's not very pleasant to read, but it's not scary either. It's just misery. And my lack of adoration for Springtrap means this story doesn't get any bias points, much like Pressure from Tales. Unfortunately I'll have to give this just a 3/5 stars.

Finally there's the epilogue. It would be crazy to try to top the incredible epilogue in #7, so this one is a lot calmer, but it's still really good and the story still delivers on really interesting twists and turns which tie perfectly into the overall themes of FNaF. This includes revisiting a certain familiar location... 4/5 stars.

Overall, a really good book with only one dud! Not sure if we'll get anything better than this for the rest of the series, I hear they're not great...
