Sol Arbiter #5

Nociceptor

In 2854, Section 5 analyst Edward Yeun approaches Tycho Barrett with suspicions of a plot against the life of the Sol Federation Secretary-General. The evidence implicates officials at the highest levels of the North Atlantic States government, potentially igniting an interplanetary war between every world and colony in the Sol system.

Tycho and Section 9 must work to prevent the killing, uncover the assassins, and—if necessary—suppress the truth. Their efforts see the return of a man from Tycho’s past and the true extent of The Eleven’s power is laid bare, signaling the beginning of Section 9’s end.

Well,.it looks like the series has either ended...

...or on pause pending author availability. Either case, i am not sure i will be reading book six if one ever gets released. The book series started off as yoj typical cop against criminals. It quickly morph to spies/black-ops against the bad guys. The transition between cops to spy thriller was very abrupt, a slower transition might have helped flushed out a bit of Tycho's back story, explain some of his personality quirks, but once Section 9 became a permanent fixture in the series, the pace of the book picked up.
As for Section 9, several things bother me about this super secret, off the books, black ops teams. They were introduced as the best of the best, but often found themselves out matched and out gunned. Their victories came at the cost of great collateral damage, and significant loss of life. Not sure why Andrea was considered a good leader, when her philosophy was shoot blow up the airplane filled with hostages to stop the terrorist. The author pointed this out via Tycho's post analysis of the mission, which ran contradictory to his professed core values, and yet he still joined the team. Oh, and for a super secret team, they sure as heck like talking about themselves in public and jsing their real names.
I also knew the wrote themselves into a bad situation with the introduction of The Eleven, an even older secret organization of immortal humans that ran mega corporations, influence state/global politics, and genetically modified humans and beast into cybernetic monsters. These cyber boogie men were over powered, god like creatures the rain complete destruction wherever they were deployed. It was connected in the books, but these mega corps that created these mega cyber baddies, were allowed to do so despite by nearly all forms of government, despite their experiments being an opened secret.
So, for a series based on secrecy, there wasn't a lot of it going around. Ultimately, this series was hindered by an over active imagination with litt!e restraint.
Ooo, a cyborg dog with guns mounted on their backs, even better an ape cyborg with rocket launcher hand,no wait, camouflage suits of armor that make the user completely invisible to the naked eye without needing a power supply, no even better jumping from a space ship and crash landing on a moon and living,or wait how about....

They story itself I liked but the copy I got some of the pages in the book were coming out like the were not fully glued in. I did not think I could get a refund because I bought the book early last year. Because the pages were coming out it kind of made it hard for me to enjoy it as much as I could have. Someday I'll come back to the book maybe get a new copy or do the audio version. Even though I did not have the best experience reading this book I would still recommend it to the fans of the previous book. I will be looking forward to the next one.

conspiracy city

This novel in the series definitely tracks more down the conspiracy and spycraft angle then any of the other books in the series. With the conspiracy to kill a high ranking official and the risk of a war to span the solar system on the table, all of section 9’s agents have to do there best to stop it from happening. A really good all around read, lots of action and twists.

Incredible!!

Great book! Lots of twists and turns wonderful buildup of the story. I can't recommend highly enough for anyone who has enjoyed the Arbiter books beforehand. The ending has a Twist so big that I just cannot wait until the next book is released. Stop what you're doing and read this book.

This was a rollercoaster from the start, i enjoyed that it was more 'down' to earth - spycraft - usual top secret government plot type of story, packed with action and various mysteries, the ending left me wanting for more and after binging the series, im saddened to see that this is the last book that was published so far since i really cant wait to see what happens next!

Out of all the books, this is probably my least favorite. It was really great reading it and I enjoyed the story a lot. I'm not a fan of the way it ended. Other than the ending everything about it was great from the story structure and continuity. The only thing I would like better would be another book that wraps everything up.

Well that went well...

A little more of the liberal application of force Section 9 are so well acquainted with, all while Barrett and his band of merry misfits are creating mayhem at every opportunity.

Well you did it again lol left it hanging... What a cracking storyline but a slightly confusing ending. I am going to assume that are going full on rogue now or will send section 9 leader save em

Always a good read

It took me a while to remember the plot backstory (why more authors don't include a a series synopsis is always a mystery to me), but once got myself familiar with the characters again I really enjoyed the book

Intriguing to say the least!

Like how the characters are getting more revealed and acting with each other. Story lines continue the intrigue with new subplots with each story.
