This is a cozy mystery, and it is the 2nd book in the Cupcake Catering mystery series. I did read and review the first book in this series. I have to say this book starts off slow, but The ending makes the beginning worth it. I did not see the twist coming at all. I really enjoyed this book, and I will keep reading this series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Cinnamon & Sugar Press) or author (Kim Davis) via NetGalley in ...more

I have truly found a new favorite genre to read, cozy mystery.
This is a new to me author and her writing is fabulous so much so I devoured it.
The author loves to bake and the book is chock full of delicious cupcake and other baked good descriptions because the main character is a baker.
This is one holiday book that actually has a lot of Halloween holiday descriptions like so many holiday books don't. Oh my goodness, eighty something year old Tillie, the family matriarch is a real hoot . She's

This book started off a little slower than the first book, but I actually enjoyed this book more. I really enjoyed the character development in this book. I love the friendship that is forming between Emory and Tillie. Tillie is one of my favorite characters; she is so full of life. As for Emory, she is evolving into a happier person. However, we learn some shocking news that will impact her and her sister's lives. The murder mystery was well plotted and was full of twists and turns to keep the ...more

Cake Popped Off! by Kim Davis is the sec0nd book in the Cupcake Catering Cozy Mystery series and it may even be better than the first! What keeps drawing me back to this series is the relationship between Emory and Tillie, and in book two Davis shows how well they compliment each other while they are following leads and questioning people in Tillies ring of high society friends. Even though in the books, Emory and Tillie have only known each other for a short time you can feel that they truly ...more

This was a truly enjoyable cozy mystery! I received a copy of this book to review, all opinions in my review are all mine and my honest impressions. While the book started out a little slow once things got going it more than made up for it. This is book two in the Cupcake Catering Mystery Series, but I hadnt read book one and still greatly enjoyed this one. I will definitely be picking up Sprinkles of Suspicion and future books that Kim Davis writes. The characters were well developed and I ...more

Take my advice before reading this book, bake up (or buy) a batch of cupcakes, muffins, cake pops or something similar to appease your sweet tooth as you encounter all of Emory & Carries various foodie concoctions. Youll thank me later lol.

In the first book in this series, I wasnt sure if I liked Emory or not. All those hesitations are gone in Cake Popped Off. Shes engaging and warm, and you cant help but be drawn to her. I love that shes not the typical body type for fictional heroines in

Cake Popped Off is the second book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery Series by Kim Davis. It is a Halloween themed mystery. While I have not yet had the pleasure of reading the first book in the series, the the author included enough backstory to make me feel like I wasn't missing any key information. I always recommend reading books as a series, but this book could also be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.

This is the second cozy I've read recently that floored me when the killer was revealed. Normally I have a clue as to who might be guilty but in this case? Nada, zip, zilch, nothing.

I always love cozies when food is involved especially anything sweet. The descriptions of the various cupcakes, muffins, and other items had me drooling all throughout the book. Thank goodness for recipes at the end!

This is quite a diverse cast of characters and many of them are endearing and others, well we just

This was my first cozy by this author. The mystery revolved around a waitress getting killed at a halloween party, stuffed with Emory's cake. And none other than Emory's brother-in-law is implicated, as they had a heated fight at the party right before she was killed. Emory and Tillie were a great sleuthing team. The start was a bit slow, but it picked up quickly after that. As for the murderer, I really could not put a pin on the person.
Thanks to Netgalley for an opportunity to read this book.
