This was really a unique storyline....who would help out a homeless person to this extent and openly welcome them into your home. There’s definitely a good message of compassion, not judging a book by its cover, honesty, etc...I could go on...there were a few of life’s messages in this story of love....

STORY: I love book 2 as this is the continuation of Ahmalee’s and Caine’s story. Now, I felt a little disturbed with Ahmalee being naïve to certain things about Caine that are staring at her in front of her face. However, as much as it annoyed me, it’s also the same thing that made it a good read. The anticipation and buildup of what will happen when Cain’s secret will come to light got me excited. The author gave me this magical connection between both characters, and it came through. Caine’s I must have her attitude was so appealing. It was like his obsession with Ahmalee seeing him as no one else is what fuels me. The fact that Caine hates when she uses his real name annoys him shows the new name almost like his rebirth of the new him.
CHEMISTRY: I like their physical chemistry, but it was their emotional connection is what I found sexy. They had this unbelievable soul mate connection that was amazing to read.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: Caine’s mother, yes, I love this woman haha. It was good seeing his mom and dad. Now Ahmalee’s friends, I liked them in book 1 as well as book 2. They had to ask the questions Ahmalee wasn’t asking because she acted as though she was too blinded by love.
Overall, I very much liked the story and characters.it started from helping an homeless man and single to being married to a very rich man.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I had a hard time with When You Needed Me because, I just could not get past Ahmalee's stupidity. Maybe stupid is not the right word. She was more gullible than stupid. There were so many red flags blowin' right in her face and Ahmalee just refused to see them. When Cain comes back two months later, he walks in her shop wearing a $5K suit, driving an $80K Maserati, and she never once questions him about how he could afford those things. I mean, not two months ago Cain was supposedly homeless and you don't bother to ask how he came up so quickly?!!! When she did ask Cain questions, he would give her the vaguest of answers and she was okay with it. They say love makes you blind and Ms. Ahmalee was a prime example of that. She lost all her vision along with her common sense. When the truth finally came out that she was an unwilling part of a social experiment, Ahmalee's feelings were truly hurt. She really did love Cain but, their entire relationship was built on a lie and she was having a hard time getting past that. While he was trash for lying to her, Cain loved Ahmalee too. He just didn't know how to get out of that lie and tell her the truth. Through a lot of tears and a lot of begging on Cain's part, these two were able to get past the lies and move forward with their relationship. Cain's parents stole the book. I loved me some Doreen and Austin. They were hilarious. Although their relationship was built on a lie, I really enjoyed Ahmalee and Cain's unique love story. It was super cute and it tugged at my heartstrings.
Ok so Cain is okay with me Now! I enjoyed this series because of the different storyline that had me turning page after page. Can't wAit to read more from Tina Martin. Good read!
Really good! First let me say I am not a fan of Cain and don’t think I’ll ever be lol but my feelings aside this was a great book series. Ahmalee is truly one of my favorite heroines and she deserved everything. This series was truly about forgiveness and love and I enjoyed it immensely.
Book 2 picked up with Ahmalee reflecting on her time and her love for Cain. Cain is back in Charlotte doing the same. Love Cain mother. Tina has once again given us a page turner showing communication, and comprised, yet not knowing where the end was going to be.
Hmm...I have mixed feelings with this one. I enjoyed it, but I spent at least 70% of the book lamenting over how purposefully obtuse Ahmalee was being in regards to Cain/Abel. Was he wrong for lying and holding that lie for as long as he did? Absolutely, but a lot of this could have been avoided if she asked how her potential lover could afford to own a Maserati when he only had a job for 2 months. But then again, we wouldn't have a story then, huh?
Oh Ahmaleee… I don’t know what to say about her. I think she just really wanted to be in love and that’s fine.
This is the continuation of When I Needed You, a story about candlemaker, Ahmalee, who rescues a homeless man, Cain and helps him back on his feet. This book picks up where that left us with us finding that Cain is actually a millionaire media mogul engaged in a social experiment, who’s now fallen in love with Ahmalee and wants her in his life. So, he continues to lie and Ahmalee despite the obvious evidence chooses to “put her faith in her man” rather than have common sense and ask pertinent questions. And in absolute fairness to her, that approach earns her a hot, wealthy guy who adores her and wants to possess her and shower her with riches- so it’s hardly like not showing common sense doesn’t pay off.
But I still think this could have been cuter if Ahmalee had been portrayed with a bit more sense, a bit more self-love and a little less doormattery… when the 💩 hits the fan, she asks for space and doesn’t even get that. She’s pushed and bullied into accepting Cain’s lying self. Even I as a reader who had insights into his head didn’t feel like I knew who he was. Was he the kind lover he was with Ahmalee or was he the 🍆 he was professionally. I liked the way he loved Ahmalee when times were good, but other than that, there wasn’t enough character development for me to care about him and the way he bullied Ahmalee into forgiving him- she asked for space, he didn’t give it to her, he kneels to beg her playing on her memories of her initial rescue of him… it gave manipulative in many ways and it gave wanting Ahmalee to have a backbone for herself. As for Ahmalee, I wish she had some proper friends or family to advice her to take enough space to think about what happened. She didn’t and she allowed herself to be pushed in my opinion before she was ready or had even had time to fully process everything. Even Cain was aware that he had her mumu button and she wouldn’t ask too many questions. I don’t know the whole resolution didn’t sit well with me and I don’t think it’s as developed enough for me personally to be okay with it.
Let me just say this romantic suspense was everything! Ahmalee and Cain/Abel had chemistry out of this world. When I tell you Cain/Abel was the man, chile he was every woman's dream! I tried to find fault and not like him, but it was hard even after all the deceit. He changed his way of life for her, she really did make him a better man. He didn't just change in order to get her but the change was actually genuine! Their love for one another is one for the record books. When I say Ahmalee loved this man, she loved him mind, body and soul! She was willing to give up her whole life for him. Even when she found out the truth, she decided to do her own research on who he really was. I love how in love they were with each other but more so how Ahmalee loved Cain! This book reaches deep within and makes you challenge yourself, could you love a person as deep as Ahmalee did given the circumstances. She got her chance at love and she was not letting go! Great book! It picked off for the first book and answered all your questions! Love Ahmalee and Cain/Abel"s story! Loved the way it ended! Great book!
Cool conclusion to book 1... I always ask if you can read a book in the middle of a series and get the gist of the storyline. You can with this series. I enjoyed it. I like the title, the unlikely love part, rather. Now the other part of the title (When you Needed Me), I'm still attempting to figure out. I can make the assumption that they both needed each other for love. With both their individual careers being successful, they were likely to find love. In my opinion, when your life is on a smooth path, anything additional is possible and can work without interference. That is why I think people in relationships attract other people. The energy is drawing others into what put together and happy looks like. I would call this a lovely beach read. The narration was good but could've been better.
Finally we get to hear from Cain’s perspective and he has some nerve.. I understand where he is coming from with the experiment. But he was a whole Millionaire. Although, the relationship was built on a lie I really did enjoy their unique love story. It was super cute and had my heart melting, I could tell they were in love. Ahmalee deserved this type of love. But There was a few times where I wanted to shake her because she was not asking the right questions! Like, Cain just rolled up looking GQ and she didn’t bat an eye. 🤣i so enjoyed this series and a big part of it was because of its message. I think it had a good twist to the love story and the characters were really likable, IMO! Good work! New fan!
This was a decent story but it ended on a weird note, but maybe that's because there's a third book. I wanted to read the third book but I didn't like this book so much that I'm willing to pay $2.99 for a 60 page update. I didn't like that Amhalee's character said she didn't need a prenuptial agreement because they're for everybody. It doesn't matter whether she was rich or not, you'd still have to give him half your business and pay alimony.
The plot of this book was interesting but I can tell the author didn't use an editor. The flow from one sentence to the next needs work, but that's where an editor comes in. Overall good work and with learning and growth this author will be fine.
I love the cover. Cain/Abel was something else...the dude was loaded! I liked that Cain/Abel married Ahmalee but I really disliked how long he took to actually reveal his truth. He really wasn't as likeable of a character in this book. He was sneaky and untrustworthy. Also, Ahmalee was very naive and way too trusting of Cain in moments she should've asked questions. I'm glad Cain and Daniel rekindled their friendship. It was an alright ending. Honestly, I gave this book 5 stars because I loved that Tina Martin released part too in a timely manner. I'm glad I didn't have to wait too long to find out the ending in this series.

This book wasn't as good as the first one. It was a little boring, but I am still glad I read it. I do like how it flowed. There was no drama about stopping the wedding. I am glad Daniel got his job back. They've been friends too long to lose the friendship. Cain/Abel lied so easily. For every question Ahmalee had, he had and elaborate lie to answer, hmm. Ahmalee loved him when she thought he had nothing. She saw potential in him, didn't try to tear him down, encouraging him, something a lot of us fail to do. A lot of us are looking for money and miss out on a good man that has potential.
I was super excited to read this sequel after reading the prequel. I was excited to see what would happen next. I was expecting Ahmalee to be mad, I would’ve expected Abel to win her back, etc. For some reason, mid book I felt that it was dragging. I skipped several pages to get to the ‘good’ part of Ahmalee finding out and once she did I feel like it still dragged. I’ll blame it on my personal preference but I could’ve done without a lot of the “fluff”. It’s a good read overall. I’m going to read “Flicker” by Tina Martin next to see what the updates are. Overall, it was a good read and I’m still going to continue to read any additional updates.
I so wanted to be in love with part two. One was amazing! Ahmalee and Cain/Abel was so lovable in the first book. In this book Cain/Abel comes across as deceitful and somewhat selfish. Ahmalee comes across to me as a airhead at times. She questions nothing a homeless man who now is buying things that cost thousand of dollars. She knows he has a job and thinks that’s how he pays for things. It took her friends saying something to even start opening her eyes and see things. Overall this was a good book.
When you needed me book 1 & 2 such a beautiful story about how two people on different sides of the track found each. We need this story right about now with so much hate in the world everybody is think about themselves, let's stop and take the time to love and help one another we'll discover everybody need somebody. Synapse took a chance on Cain and what a blessing she got at the end and all of took was kindness. Again Ms. Tina another beautiful story keep them coming and be bless and safe.
This book was beyond amazing, I waited for book two before I read book one because I hate waiting an I wanted to read both book, one after the other. This is the definition of true love. I felt so bad for the couple when they were going through it. But I love how they came back together. They both could not be without each other so it was inevitable for them to hash things out an made up. I love love love both books the same. Tina you did an amazing job with these two. Keep up the great work
I refrained from posting a review until I finished both books. I love the storyline! Yes he wasn't truthful, but to me that made their love more special. Knowing she fell in love with him when she thought he was dirt poor was so romantic. I even love that his parents were so accepting of her. Most stories who have a wealthy romantic interest, the mother usually calls the significant other a gold digger. I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful series from start to finish!!
I was wondering, how, just how is boo thang gonna get out of this mess? Did he maybe take his sweet ol' time doing so? He sure as heck did. But in that time, Ahmalee and her beautiful heart got broken, and rightfully so. I don't know how I would have reacted. I did love every minute of them being together though. The love was as obvious as the nose on Cain's gorgeous face. Fantastic story Mrs. Martin, this two part series is definitely going on my favorites list.
I love you Cain, but what where you thinking? Ahmalee, got her happily ever after, but at what cost? She is devastated by Cain's actions, and is now questioning what is real? The way Ahmalee was able to change Cain's entire way of thinking, and open his heart was amazing! He knew he had to come correct, or lose her forever. He pulled out all the stops to show her that his love was real, and always had been. Great ending to a sweet love story! ❤👍👍
Ahmalee was on cloud nine she was at peace and in love until she was shown a video to make her rethink her marriage with Cain/Abel (Cabel). Does she know the man she married? She has some soul searching and she needed time. After a week Cabel came for his love. She just didn't know he needed her just as much as she needed him. I did want her to make him grovel a little longer.
Due to deception Cain (Abel) has to find a way to show Ahmalee that he is the same person with two sides that fell in love and 💘💘💘💘 LOVE her. Finding a way to explain and show her the three things she was never to forget: One: She would always be his wife Two: He would always be her husband & Three: He would NEVER let her go!!!!
Their love withstood all the deception/ lies he told. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The second part of the story was wonderful. I expected a small amount of drama because of Cain's untruths. I was so happy that part did not drag on long. It was easy to see how much Ahmalee meant to Cain and vise versa. Again, this story was incredible, as was the first story. Five stars treatment...
Amahlee and Cain's love story is intoxicating. From beginning to end this story pulls you in. If you're looking for a story with passion, intrigue and love, this one's for you! But you have to first read "When I needed you"! That's the first book in this 2 book series. Get the tissues ready. Tina Martin never disappoints!
Absolutely adored Cain/Abel and Ahmalee's story. She had every right to feel the way she felt when the light was shed on EVERYTHING. But whats that ole saying "the heart wants what the heart wants"! Well it was that way for the both of them. So glad Ahmalee was able to let her heart have its way. This series is highly recommended.
Part 2 was a great addition to Part 1. They both missed each other and had fallen love. Fate brought them together and even through the lies couldn't keep them apart. Lies, deceptions and misunderstandings almost ended a friendship as well as ther marriage . Enjoyed her nosey friends and his parents.
Been some time since I've written a review, but I so thoroughly enjoyed this series that I had to recommend it. When I read, everything else takes a back seat. I lost my spaghetti meal to the garbage disposal. This further delayed my fami!y's dinner. 😎😋
Nice conclusion to the story. I have to say that I really appreciated how much these two loved each other. I mean it was palpable. The book was pretty short (the ending was abrupt), but the true love, and hurt that Ahmalee had after discovering Cain's deception, jumped off the page. Good book.
I can't get over the fact that He wanted to build a life with her, did not want to wait but also did not have the balls to tell her the truth. And no, a week is not enough time and space to get over something like that. I do like them as a couple but sometimes I felt like Cain was a weirdo and Ahmalee (from the first book) acts like she is desperate.
