"We choose family, always."

As the only child of Georgia’s leading tech mogul, that motto has been our way of life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been groomed and primed to take over his role since I was fifteen. Ever the dutiful daughter, I’ve done everything to stick to the plan, even if the plan was never what I actually wanted.

But people lie. Stories change. Entire

Taylor Danae Colbert impresses again with Stones Unturned, a beautifully written, emotional story that captivates and engages immediately.

This is only my second read from Taylor and she has certainly earned herself a new fan in me. Her writing is fluid and engaging and she sets the scene beautifully, with characters that you will fall in love with instantly and a storyline that is heartbreaking and heartwarming, that you can't help but be touched by the words on these pages. This was my first book of Taylor’s, and I can’t wait to devour more of her words. First of all I just want to say that I was one of the sensitivity beta readers of this book, and I applaud Taylor for wanting to write color and experiences that are not her own responsibility. I also want to thank her for writing Derrick and giving me a new book boyfriend. I love him..swoon.

Stones Unturned is a beautifully written, emotional story that will captivate your heart from the very beginning.

Kaylee is a strong woman. Her family has her entire life planned for her, though it isn’t what she wants it is her family and she will do anything for them. That is until a mysterious man finds her and turns her life completely upside down.

Meade Lake is a town you’ll want to visit. It’s on a lake, picturesque and has the close-knit small-town vibe you can’t help but love. Everyone t

Gosh - what a fabulous read! Absolutely loved it!

"I can't imagine life without knowing you."

When Derrick Thomas walks into Kaylee Jennings' life, he shows her a photo that blows her life apart, and has her following him to the small town of Meade Lake to uncover a hitherto unknown mystery in her past. What she finds has her questioning everything about her present life and her family. She also finds the potential of a different future from the one mapped out for her, as well as new friendships

This was my first book of Taylor Danae Colbert, but people....This will not be my last. This story was absolutely beautiful. It brings so many aspects of what's going on in the world around us today when it comes down to discrimination, racism and exception. I loved how this author brought all those aspects into this story for readers to experience.

Kaylee's world turns upside down when a man she's never met before asks her to go with him to Meade Lake. In the process of getting there she learns

5 star review of Stones Unturned by Taylor Danae Colbert (Meade Lake #2)
Taylor Danae Colbert is a new author to me and I will certainly be looking into her other books as soon as time allows. The writing was strong and I found myself whisked away to Meade Lake when Kaylee goes in search of the truth. .
The betrayal and hurt that Kaylee goes through was heart breaking and I felt for her when Derrick Thomas shatters her world with one photograph.; her pain was palpable. What happens when secrets

I wish I could live in Meade Lake with these characters. Derrick is the kind of book boyfriend that consumes you. Every time he popped up on the page, my heart raced.

Kaylee was a fierce woman, and reading her story taught me a little something about myself. Her pain was palpable. I could almost feel it flying off the pages as I read it. My inner lioness was roaring for her to get her HEA. Mini spoiler alert: she did.

I was SO HERE for the slow burn between Derrick & Kaylee. Swoon city. 🥰 ⁣And c

Meade Lake is such a special little town. I was excited to go back & see Derrick get his happily ever after. He was such a great character in Ryder’s book & he was just as amazing in this book. His love & caring nature made him an amazing person.

I felt so bad for Kaylee. I don’t know if I would have handled things as well as she did. All those family secrets were a bomb to her life & she handled it amazingly well. They were made to be together.

I loved meeting the new characters. I can’t wait t

I jumped into this series without reading the first book, I really enjoyed every character in this book (except Kaylee's parents) Her gran reminded me of my sweet granny who I lost when I was very young. I love the instant connection between Kaylee and derrick it was refreshing.
How he dropped everything to try and convince her to go see her gran before it was too late, not knowing who she was, i just loved derrick's character.

What a good book! I was completely captivated by the characters and was lost in this story! Full review to come.
I was very quickly lost in Kaylee and Derrick's journey. The unexpected arrival into Kaylee's life took her on a journey she didn't see coming. Meade Lake is a beautiful place that holds an interesting story tied to Kaylee. I liked how Derrick was a safe place for Kaylee and the two of them just clicked. I enjoyed their friendship and how he was there for her in a very unexpected, t

Stones Unturned is book two in the Meade Lake series. It can be read as a standalone. This was totally sucked me in. I was just checking to see how long it was and then read a chapter and I ended up reading the whole story in one sitting. Kaylee's family owns a successful tech company. She's not really happy with being a part of the company. When Derrick comes into her life he turns it upside down. Derrick is sexy and sweet and she pretty trusting of him. She follows him back to Meade Lake where ...more

Another lovely visit to Meade Lake.
My heart broke for Kaylee when she discovers that so much of her privileged life has been built on secrets and lies... it’s only when Derrick brings her back to his hometown that she begins to realise that family doesn’t have to be blood and often friends are the best family you can ever wish for.
Sweet and heartwarming, this gentle story is laced with heart but also some hard hitting truths about society today.

The plot of this book is like a soap opera! Kaylee meets this stunning black man in a Georgia bar and he suddenly reveals to her that the grandmother she believed dead for the last twenty years is alive and gravely ill. He invites her to come with him to Lake Meade to meet her, a ten-hour drive. Since he proved his information with photos and facts no one else knows about her sister (also believed to have died in childbirth), she goes with him.

I was already a blubbering mess from Back to Shore (book one) and then Taylor gives us Stones Unturned. What a raging emotional rollercoaster than I did not want to get off of. I laughed. I sobbed. I swooned. I felt all the things. Taylor gets real in this book. She delves into systematic racism and racial bias and injustice that hits harder than ever. But she navigates it with such honestly and empathy. With open eyes and ears. There is a willingness to understand, to learn, to teach, and grow, ...more

I was in love with this town from the first book of this series, and what the author gives us in this second book is something so beautiful and magical that I couldn’t put it down. The heartache and the pain that Kaylee endured because of everything that was hidden from her. But that connection she has with Derrick is just wow. I was spellbound by these two. Their chemistry and their banter. I adored every moment of these two. Even as things implode, things are exposed and so much more, you feel ...more

This is book 2 in the Meade Lake Series but I haven’t read book one, it made no difference I still loved every word that was written, I loved the characters , I love the story and I need more from the residents of Meade Lake.

Don't get me wrong...this is a beautiful story and very appropriate for today's social times. The characters are awesome. It's just that Book 1 was SO BEAUTIFUL that I don't think another Meade Lake book can quite compare although I'm looking forward to Book 3 already.

Derrick finds a long-lost granddaughter and brings her "home" to Meade Lake. That granddaughter is Kaylee. Kaylee has been betrayed by her family in a horrible way and she begins to find herself in Meade Lake rath

What a welcome back to Meade Lake this was! Kaylee has lived a gilded life as the only heir to her father's tech company. Her father is ready to put her at the helm in the role she hasn't earned and acknowledges as so. She's live her entire life believing that her Gran May and baby sister both died when she was five so when Derrick comes to tell her to come to Meade Lake, her world splinters. While she doesn't make it in time to say goodbye, Kaylee unravels so many layers to the family she thoug ...more

Taylor Danae Colbert is a relatively new-to-me author -- I'd only read Back To Shore (Meade Lake #1) before, and I was so glad that I followed up with Stones Unturned, the next in the series. Her writing is absolutely enchanting, and she creates a magical world with these characters. It isn't all happy-go-lucky; these characters go through some major things in this story, but it is all beautifully crafted.

Kaylee doesn't know Derrick all that well, but agrees to go to Meade Lake with him anyway.

Stones Unturned is the second book in the Meade Lake series. Book 2 follows Derrek (Ryder's BFF from book 1) and Kaylee. This was a beautiful story of a young lady finding disappointment in those who she looked up to and trusted while also determining what type of person she wanted to live her life as. Kaylee finds herself with relatives she didn't knew of, trying to navigate the second death of her beloved grandmother (who Kaylee thought died 20 years ago),

The moment I read the description of Stones Unturned, I knew that I had to read it, and still, I never saw it coming. Kaylee is going on in life when a man comes into her life out of the blue to ask her to go with him to Meade Lake. From that moment on, things take a turn for her, because lies are the order of the day now from her parents, and it's just the beginning. Hell, I'm not quite sure how she kept upright as the dirty little secrets were coming out all over the place. It made me anxious ...more
After falling in love with Taylor Danae Colbert’s writing in book one, Back to Shore, I couldn’t wait to get my hands my Derrick’s story. Stones Unturned is everything I hoped for, a beautifully written, emotional story that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

Stones Unturned by T.D. Colbert is a stand-alone in the Meade Lake Series. Every book is , while connected, about another couple and can easily be read as a stand-alone. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is Back to Shore, Mila and Ryder's story.

Sometimes families have secrets and lies, some that can turn your world upside down. Kaylee was living her life believing that how it seemed was how it was. Until a tall, handsome guy showed up. With a few words and a picture to prove he was being straight with her.

“New to me author, 5 stars”

So I’ve never read Colbert until now and I’m over here scratching my head, wondering why. She made my heart hurt for Kaylee. How utterly confusing the entire situation must have been. One thing is for sure, after reading Stones Unturned I will read her again.

The second book in the Meade Lake series gives us the opportunity to learn more about Derrick. When we first met him in Ryder's book he was the kind of friend that everyone wants.
