Zora: I live a life of wealth and luxury. There isn't anything I can't have. Except my freedom. So I turned to the computer for friendship. And that's where I met my match. More than my match And when my life suddenly falls apart, he's the one to find me. But he'll also be the one to rip my heart in two.
Data: I'm not good with people. It's why I stick to my computers. When my online partner and friend ends up in trouble, there's no way I'm letting her go it alone. I was expecting a mature woman when I pulled up in front of her house. But the girl is barely eighteen.
And I friggin' want her. To make matters worse, she's been targeted by elite members of global organized crime. I'm confident I can keep her safe from that danger. I'm less sure I can keep her safe from me. She's already had one unwanted relationship with an older man. She doesn't need a man like me. One who will rule her to make her mine. And kill anyone in my way to keep her safe.
WARNING: This book contains graphic violence, intense and explicit sexual situations between an older man and a younger woman. There are some dark themes that some readers may find objectionable. This is an age gap romance. As with all books in the Bones MC series, the reader can expect a HEA ending with no cheating.
Erotic romance author by night, emergency room tech/clerk by day, Marteeka Karland works really hard to drive everyone in her life completely and totally nuts. She has been creating stories from her warped imagination since she was in the third grade. Her love of writing blossomed throughout her teenage years until it developed into the totally unorthodox and irreverent style her English teachers tried hard to rid her of. 4.5 stars - Zora Hightower and Data... boy, I really like them together. First, there was the camaraderie, flirting, and genuine respect that they had built over a couple of years. Then, there was their first in-person meeting. Holy cannoli! Data being all possessive and stuff was hilarious! 🤣🤣
As sad as her situation started, I love where it ended. ❤️🔥🎉 She definitely deserved her happily ever after.
I must admit that as much as I enjoyed this one, I'm most definitely looking forward to the next book.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Umi Markkanen, who always does a good job with all of the characters.
This was my first read from this author. Good story, great characters, however I would have loved the story more if it was written in the first person.

I am so glad I found Marteeka Karland!!! I love Bones MC and Salvations Bane. Data and Zora are great together. Each member finds there other half. Story is great . I am really looking forward to Suzie and Stunner when the time is right!
Oh, this was a good one. I really liked the guys from Bone MC because they’re alpha, tough and heroic heroes that ride to the rescue. This story was about Data who I’ve read mentions of in previous books. Yes, this is a standalone read but it also included some very VERY interesting background information about the dynamics between three major players with a fourth being represented by a man named Drago. His character, though on stage for a very brief moment, was memorable and more than intrigued me.
That being said, the story is focused on Zora, a married hacker, and Data, a computer whiz for Bones MC. They originally meet via the internet, but like pen pal letters of old, the written word can lend itself to magic. In this case, both of them kind of fall in love, remotely, but neither realizes the depth of their feelings until they join forces to not only get Zora out of a very scary situation, but figure out a way to keep her safe. There is a mystery afoot as to the end game and just how far someone was willing to go to keep their secrets and deflect any blame to someone else. Ms. Karland imbued her story with chills and thrills as Data’s brethren come together with a plan to save the day.
One thing I noticed in this novella versus the couple I’ve recently reviewed, this one had a chapter that had quite a few missing definite articles, namely the word “the”. It’s not a huge deal but it shocked me because up until this book, the editing was spot on and flawless. It was contained in one section so it’s possible someone got interrupted while editing and didn’t realize they skipped a spot. It happens. I didn’t take any points off my rating though. The book as a whole is awesome and in fact, I’m giving it a half of an extra star because of the scene with Chase. I thought the author handled that situation incredibly well and it made me like Data and the men with him all the more.
Once again, even though this is a novella length, the author managed to pack it with some hefty plot threads, strong romantic motivations and some internal angst. This time around, it is Data experiencing the angst of “should he, or shouldn’t he?” Or, is he too old for her or is he getting in his own way? Should he apologize for coming on too strong, or jump in with both feet and hang the consequences? Since this has a happy ever after ending, I guess the answers are a given. Don’t worry about Zora being married – that’s part of the plot thread. It’s how things iron out that make this such a fun and entertaining read.
I wish I’d had a chance to read some of the other books in the series. I’ve read their reviews and I’m pretty sure I’d like them just as much as the ones I’ve been privileged to read and review. It seems Ms. Karland has a good thing going with these story arcs with the Bones MC. I like her heroes and the heroines she matches them with. I hope there’s a 9th one in the series coming because I think I have a new addiction. I’m going to have to look into the ones I’ve missed because I’m having too much fun. Data is a great read and I’m happy to say so in this review.
Short. Hot. Sweet. Awesome. Seriously I didn't want to stop reading. I wanted more.. totally awesome read. Data is so intensely private it was awesome to peek into his world. Zora was interesting and smart. Loved it!
—-Narrator Review——- Umi is clear and easy to understand. She does all of the voices well and I forget that she’s reading all of them. Nice job!
——-Story Review——- MMC/FMC- Data and Zora POV- 3rd person Genre- MC Romance Heat- they do the things after awhile and they name the parts. Series? Y Safety: No cheating/sharing, but attempted OM/OW drama and implied previous s. violence. No Cliffhanger, HEA. Triggers- language, violence, explicit erotic content, implied past s. a. (Not Detailed). Tropes- Damsel In Distress, Age Gap, Chatroom Chums, You’ve Got Mail, Instalove. What I liked- I liked how competent both Data and Zora were with computers. It’s scary, what they could hack into 😳. Despite her young age, they seemed well matched. They seemed to belong together. Both were likable, and even when Data was all up in his head, I could understand why he was hesitant. The secondary characters were fun, especially Stunner and Susie. I’ve read previous books in the series and Susie and Stunner have been a delight in all of them (glittering beard and all). And it doesn’t shock me that Susie has mad hacking skills; she’s brilliant. What I didn’t like- suddenly, I’m acutely concerned about cybersecurity…😳 Verdict- recommended I received a review copy of this audiobook for free and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This story is a bit dark, filled with action and intrigue, and plenty of chemistry and heat. Data and Zora have been friends for the past two years, after connecting online. Leaving behind the confines of cyber space, neither is what the other expects. Zora is young (only 18), sweet, intelligent, a gifted hacker, and trapped in an arranged and horrible marriage. Data is older (in his 40's), possessive, rugged, smart, and a tattooed member of the Bones MC. But these two fit together like puzzle pieces, and their HEA is long overdue. This is a quick read, fun and sexy. Well worth your time. Happy Reading!

This is Data and Zora’s story. Data is a member of the Bones MC. Zora is a married, has a wealthy spouse who is controlling. She desperately needs to get away. I liked where Data really debated on his age, before becoming romantically involved with Zora. Data, and his MC brothers, came to the rescue. The book is part of a series but is easily a stand-alone book. If you are reading the series, I recommend reading it in order. Each book brings back previous characters and introduces you to ones for future books. The story is well developed. The author can really bring these characters to life. The narration was well done. I love a good hacker lead and this one has two! I also love a ‘I need to get away from my abusive husband’ tale, and that’s going on here also!
FMC caught in an abusive relationship. Hacker / computer geek MMC. Single dad. Arranged marriage. Age gap. Gang wars. T0rture. Vengeance. Ordered hits.
Overall: Fun, would love to read more with both characters!
Also: I think another age-gap / forbid-y romance may be brewing and I’m excited to read Stunner’s book to see if I’m right.
4 stars.
Audio: Umi has become one of my favorite narrators—perfect delivery!
Yes this is a short read but it sure does throw a slew of feelings at you in as few words as possible. Miss Karland, whom I have been following for many years now; gives us a treat that not only will warm you up but it has a bit of the action to keep us enamored with these characters. This MC is killing it! ANOTHER great addition to this series.

Zora is hacker who is married, to a wealthy, very controlling man. Zora desperately needs to get away. Data is a member of the Bones MC. The two of them originally meet via the internet, they fall in love, remotely. It is not until Zora needs help do they both realizes the depth of their feelings.
Data was an arsehole who didn't deserve Zora Short read, needing more about the connection between them. Not helped by the fact I hadn't read any other books in the series.
Not my favorite in the series. Zora felt younger, I’m not a fan of big age gap, but most of the h’s in the series had a maturity beyond their years so the age didn’t put me off, but Zora felt and acted like a child and that just put me off.
Have I told you how much I love this series? It is so addictive and I love the shock when Data realizes how young his girl is. In the end, it doesn't matter because love conquers all, but I am seriously addicted now and need more.
