This is a clean second chance romance, and this is the 5th book in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. I have to say I loved this book from the first page. The two main characters where so fun and cute, and I loved following them. This book was everything I needed this week. I love a cute cowboy romance. I storyline was good. It was a short book that was a quick read. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Claire McEwen) via NetGalley, s ...more

Second Chance Cowboy was such a great story! These two main characters really burrowed into my heart. It was so clear to see that the love they felt for each other while still in high school had been the real deal. But, there was a lot of pain tangled up between them, due to the way Wes left years earlier.

Emily and Wes felt so real to me. Emily had trouble trusting that Wes wouldn’t abandon her again. Wes desperately wanted to begin again in Shelter Creek with Emily, but worried about his younge
This is a clean romance with no sex and no swearing. It's a slow read and I found parts of it boring. I liked the small town and how they welcomed others so easily. I loved the group of friends both male and female. I appreciated that the author didn't use any of the standard (and overused) romance novel plot devices. No Other Man/Woman, no conniving exes, no emotionally abusive relatives, etc.

Unfortunately, I never really warmed up to the main characters. I actually didn't like either Wes or E

A fantastic second chance romance!

Emily Fielding never got over Wes Marlow's abrupt leaving her and her parents many years ago. Now Emily has taken over the veterinary practice started by her father. She also works with the Shelter Creek Wildlife Center. Guess you'd call her a workaholic. She needs another vet to help with her practice to have some breathing room. The morning Emily thought she saw Wes walking down the main street in Shelter Creek Emily thought she had to be hallucinating. That c

For some reason, I’ve only read every other book in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series, but I’ve very much enjoyed each one I’ve read. And Second Chance Cowboy may be my favorite so far!

Emily and Wes have that delicious kind of chemistry that comes from an emotionally charged history & familiarity combined with present day attraction & getting to know the grown-up counterpart to the teenagers they were when they fell in love. Sparks zing all over the place, but also laughter. One scene

This is a clean sweet sometimes sad story. It's a quick read cause once you start it you will not be able to leave Shelter Creek. What a special place there are six books in this set and so far, all have been great.

“Second Chance Cowboy” by Claire McEwen is a delightful story that is difficult to put down.

Emily Fielding is a veterinarian with a country practice who also helps out at the local wildlife sanctuary. She has no spare time and recently resorted to advertising for another veterinarian to join her in the practice, but nobody had applied. Although she has friends and family, she is weary beyond belief and has no interest in a romantic partner, having her heart broken years ago in high school.

I remember reading the first book in this series and greatly enjoyed it, looking forward to the next installments. And as is my curse, I read so much that sometimes I miss some other books in series until one crosses my path again. I'm so glad that this one did! I absolutely loved it. And I will say that it definitely works as a standalone.

Wes hurt Emily when he disappeared all of those years ago, but he had his reasons for doing it. Neither one of them forgot the other. And when they get

Wes and Emily’s story is a very engaging second chance at love romance. Both are strong, wonderfully complicated and flawed characters that drew me into their fascinating story. After he disappeared fifteen years ago in the middle of the night, Emily never thought she would see Wes again. He had been fostered by her family and the two of them had secretly grown close enough to plan a future together. Then he disappeared without a note and never contacted her or her parents again. Now he has come ...more

Second Chance Cowboy is the fifth book in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. It is the first book I have read by this author and was fine reading as a stand-alone. It is a heart-warming, second chance romance with all the small-town charm. The people of Shelter Creek were charming and full of warmth. The pacing is perfect, and the plot was developed.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series and some of the prior characters make multiple appearances, you don’t have to read them to fully enjoy this story.

Wes was a foster boy that came and stayed with Emily and her parents for 4 years. Wes and Emily loved to tag behind her father, who was the local veterinarian. The two made plans to both become vets and take over the practice. During their senior year in high school, they w

I have enjoyed the previous books in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series by Claire McEwen, and after reading the latest one, Second Chance Cowboy, I am ready for more! Living in Northern CA, I enjoy reading about things that take place in my neck of the woods! (Toward the end of the book Wes even says, "It all sounds very Northern California.") This book centers around the female/and the only veterinarian in Shelter Creek. Emily Fielding is overworked and hoping to hire another vet. Out of the bl ...more

I love this series from Claire, each book is extremely well written and of course, this one is no exception.
This is Emily and Wes story, a second chance romance, will they find their HEA? or will the past be in their way? Will Emily overcome her trust issues with Wes?

A highly emotional journey! With book five in her beloved Heroes of Shelter Creek series Claire McEwen wraps a pair of characters around our hearts like she does so well in SECOND CHANCE COWBOY. Former high school sweethearts are reunited when Wes comes back to Shelter Creek and sparks fly immediately, but years of pain are festering underneath the surface that has to be addressed. Great characters, spot on romance and the utmost of forgiveness.

Emily is rewarding character. She comes across as c

This stand alone and fifth book in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series, is a sweet, clean romance about second chances in life and love.
Wes Marlow was the young foster boy Emily Fielding’s parents took in. Wes and Emily were young and fell in love. But the night of the prom, Wes disappeared leaving Emily heartbroken and her parents worried. No one knowing where or why he left.
Wes returns over a decade later, a veterinarian and wanting to make amends.

Another in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series in which veterinarian Emily Fielding is in desperate need of a second vet for her thriving business inherited from her father. Trouble is, the only person who shows up with the right skills happens to be the boy--now man--who broke her heart years earlier when he stood her up on prom night and it's now 15 years later.

What an absolute delight to return to Shelter Creek and catch up with some fictional friends as well as meet some new ones in Second Chance Cowboy.

If you’ve followed the series, you are already familiar with the town vet, but you haven’t gotten to know her yet. If you haven’t followed the series, this book is an excellent introduction to this small California town where friendships are strong and a community comes together for the sake of both wildlife and ranch life.

Claire McEwen writes an awe inspiring second chance drama with a healthy dose of entertaining side characters.

Emily Fielding was devistated when Wes Marlow disappeared from her parents home fifteen years ago. After taking the young teen in as a foster child Emily and Wes had become more than just friends. After taking over her dad's veterinary clinic Emily is in desperate need of an assistant. The last person she expects to apply for the job is the guy that left without a word.

I really like this series so to return to read this book was so much fun. I liked Emily and Wes, who had disappeared fifteen years ago. He had left Emlily heartbroken with no goodbye. I enjoyed reading about his past and how he had to rescue his brother and raise him until he turned eighteen. It was interesting to see how hard it was for Wes to let go of the apron strings, even though his brother was all grown up.

What I especially liked about this romantic story was having some of the characters

Emily put up a lot of walls and Wes's sudden departure without any follow up contact in the fifteen years since started the process. Emily eventually accepts his reasons why, but still holds him at arm's length afraid to get her heart broken again. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder much of the book, thinking that too many of her clients aren't happy that her father left his veterinary practice to a woman. She is overworked and struggling to find another vet to lighten her load when she ag ...more

This is a perfect second chance romance. It's the fifth book in the series. I know that there will be animals that may variety of personalities. To me books just get better with pets and animals in them. Emily and Wes had me hooked on their story. I finished this book and said, "Aww, I LOVED this story." I was sorry to see it end. I love Wes and Emily's' story and hope to learn more about them in a future book. One of my favorite couples. I can always depend on this author to write clean, inspirational romantic novels. I am always amazed at the detail in each of her books. She thoroughly researches each topic she writes about. Second Chance Cowboy is book five of the Heroes of Shelter Creek series by Claire McEwen. This is the first one I’ve read and now I’ll have to read the previous four.

Thanks to the generosity of Claire I was able to read this one early and here’s my review - I loved Second Chance Cowboy, the fifth book in Claire’s fabulous Heroes of Shelter Creek series. If you're in the mood for a feel-good story, you've got to read Second Chance Cowboy by Claire McEwen. It's been over a decade since Wes Marlow disappeared without a trace. No letters. No calls. Claire McEwen’s fifth installment in the Shelter Creek series, Second Chance Cowboy, is a clean romance filled with heart, warmth, passion, subtle humor, and a lesson in forgiveness. It’s characters are relatable and may just find yourself falling in love with them, and maybe even an animal or two.
