Thank you to Netgalley and Underlined Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Considering how much I hyped myself up with that excellent premise and wonderful cover, having read the entire book, I feel vaguely lied to.

This is not a good feeling.

'My Epic Spring Break (Up)' follows Ashley, an aspiring computer scientist, and all the mishaps that follow when she decides that she's going to go off-script this spring break and follow her heart, to have fun.

Another miss from best friend to lovers trope.

I couldn't connect to any of the characters. The main love interest is insensitive. The second love interest radiates big white guy energy, with all the fame-seeking and pulling pranks. Lack personality with very short cameo despite being the endgame. Meanwhile, the female MC is so dense and never ceased to amaze me with her gullibility for repeating the same mistakes over and over.

I believe this is supposed to be a coming of age kind of book, which

Another sweet, soft, feel good, coming of age is story fresh from the oven, ready to be served immediately! I read author’s previous adult romance novels which were also good! As like her occupation as software engineer she created a new genius coder character! ( a little younger and inexperienced version of How to hack a heartbreak’s Melanie)

This time she targeted younger readers with Say yes summer meets I heart series ( just a little Booksmart vibes) kind of a young girl’s experiencing diff

Just when I thought I couldn't find a book made for me, I found this novel. By the way, there are spoilers in this review about a lot of things in this novel. I'm sorry to the people who haven't read this before, but it would be so hard to write this review without spoilers.

I’m gonna be honest I had higher hopes. But...don’t let this discourage you from reading this book. I still loved many things about it, like Jackson (sucker for friends to lovers right here) and the coding/hackathon element. Women in STEM woo! I liked the main character Ashley, at some points her actions did annoy me...but she is a teenager and it’s kind of realistic. I’m giving this 3/5 stars not because it’s bad, but because I think there are some aspects of the book that could be bette

My Epic Spring Break(up) by Kristin Rockaway is a young adult contemporary novel about a teenage girl who is determined to make the most of her Spring break. As Ashley tries to get out of her comfort zone by dating a mysterious fellow student she gets further away from her mother’s rules, alienating her childhood friend Jason and not prioritizing what she needs to do to win Hackathon, a 24 hour coding contest with a huge prize.

I really enjoyed reading about Ashley’s Brooklyn neighborhood and wh

i've only ever read one other book by this author but what i loved about both of them is the focus on technology and women in STEM. WE NEED MORE WOMEN IN STEM!!!

from the moment i read the synposis, my immediate thought was "POSSIBLE FRIENDS TO LOVERS?" because that is a god tier trope. jason was honestly so pure and wholesome i just want to protect him. i loved how supportive ashley's friends

Ashley was laser focused on her future. She worked to keep her grades up and engaged in activities that would pad her resume. When her plans were slightly derailed, she decided to throw caution to the wind and expand her horizons. After a few questionable decisions, she wondered if this was really what she thought she was missing out.

When I think of spring break, I imagine easy breezy fun, and Rockaway did a fantastic job capturing its essence for me. Here are five things I loved about My Epic

2.5 stars. This YA contemporary was a likable enough read, and I particularly liked the nods to New York, Taylor Swift and the fact that the main character is into coding. But it’s ultimately one of those stories that will end up getting lost in the mix of others in the genre for me.

I'm very much in a contemporary mood right now so my friend handed this one over to read. A very quick read that was cute but did fall flat a few times for me.

Ashley has her entire life planned out - internship over the summer at a leading social media company, head off to Stanford or Berkeley, become a leading software engineer. But all of that comes crashing down when her spring break plans don't turn out the way she wanted. Deciding to stop thinking about her future, Ashley decides to start

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing, and Kristin Rockaway for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a cute book and it felt exactly as advertised, it was a great coming of age story. I really didn't like Ashley's character, especially initially, though I began to respect her more towards the end.

The story felt all over at a few points, but I will say that I'm happy with how things wrapped up, it just kept me

My Epic Spring Break (Up) was a cute, though unmemorable, coming of age story.

My Epic Spring Break (Up) was more or less exactly what I thought it would be: entertaining, but unmemorable. I did like it more than I expected, but that's not saying much. To be fair, that's more of my expectations for contemporary books, not this one in particular.

When I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible. Though the cover and plot had all the elements I look for in a YA book, once I started reading, I could tell it would be an uphill battle. In the beginning Ashley felt a bit robotic. She was driven and intelligent, but she came off as cold. I couldn’t connect with her because it felt like she was just a one dimensional character. When Ashley decides to add more adventures and rebels, she really goes for it ...more

This is a pretty cute high school romance and an easy read if you're looking for something quick. It does have some ya tropes, like a love triangle, and a predictable plot. I was also sad that we didn't get much resolution of Ashley's issues with her dad. I would have liked to see them work things out a bit more than what we saw.

Although Ashley frustrated me by making some poor decisions, she's only sixteen and has never had a boy like her before. She's crushing on Walker and is a bit blinded b

✨Happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time.✨

My Epic Spring Break (Up) was a light and breezy YA romp through NYC. It was a quick read and pretty low angst but it made ME the angsty one. I’m lucky, I had a pretty good high school experience but lord please don’t take me back. I’ve read a lot of YA but this one hit me different because high school me relates hardcore to Ashley—sans cute childhood friend (truly unfortunate for me).

Ashley’s crushes and decision making skills were just so h

Ashley, our main character, is a coder (like me!) and like her friends, she is much more comfortable in the world of STEM, prepping for her (hopeful) internship and college. She has an overly protective mother and a turbulent father that occasionally sees her when he’s not busy with his new wife. Despite it though, she can’t complain. She’s happy. There hasn’t really been a second thought in her mind that wondered if she was missing out

This was a lovely YA romance with a perfectly flawed main character, coding talk for my programming friends, and plenty of heart.

If I could only mention one thing that I loved about this book, it would be the main character, Ashley. Specifically, I love that she was a flawed character. She makes numerous mistakes and bad decisions throughout this book, but she’s real. We see a lot of growth in Ashley as she tries to figure out what she really wants in life and the future she wants to work toward

”Dating is highly overrated. And it definitely isn’t fun.”

My Epic Spring Break (Up) is such a cute and sweet YA contemporary romance that brings me back to my early days of reading YA books mixed with the reality of now. Though it may be simple, it was a really fun read and I would definitely pick it up to break a slump or something.

This book tells the story of Ashley, who dreams to be an intern at a famous social media company called ZigZag. She has a best friend named Jason, who is

This was so cute! I'm so happy I read this, it's the perfect quick read for when you're in the middle of a reading slump or if you're just having a bad day. Just super adorable and heartwarming!

This follows Ashley, a coding queen, who kind of goes off the deep end after finding out she's rejected from a summer internship program. I love any YA novels that feature young women who are into technology and coding! It's so important girls have these kind of role models growing up so that they can fe

This was just a sweet, adorable read, nothing heavy and a nice way to spend a gentle afternoon. I loved that the main focus of the novel was girls in a STEM setting, and as it made me feel like I'd like to know a little more about coding, hopefully it can have that affect on those a bit younger than me too. It's always great to be in a New York setting, even if there were only brief snatches of Manhattan here and there throughout the novel.

There is a clear winner in the love interest space from

This book was just straight up FUN. I had such an enjoyable reading experience and boy that was such a “feel-good” book.
There’s so much to love about this book:
💗Friends to lovers romance - I often think enemies to lovers is my fav trope but every time I read a friends to lovers I’m reminded of the superior trope
💗Taylor Swift references - I loved this so much
💗Dealing with rejection - this hit hard. While Ashley is just a junior in HS, I feel like this is so relatable beyond teens.
💗 NYC ambiance
