Ness, a demi-demon with a conscience, just wanted a peaceful afternoon in the Forest of Immortals. But Elias, a reckless mortal, went and spoiled it. Not that he wanted to be chased by psychotic vampires.

After saving his life, Ness agrees to help him find his estranged father and his Pack. But that means facing Nolan, the werewolf ex that holds her heart.

Now, Ness must dec

5 dark stars for an unputdownable read

In the land of epic multi-volume fantasy series, the stand-alone is a much rarer beast. It needs to draw the reader in and fully deliver as far as both plot and characters are concerned in a single volume, nicely wrap up all threads, as well as leave you with that sense of satisfaction at the end. This book here manages all of it beautifully.

Gritty and imaginative, riveting and full of feeling, A Heart of Salt & Silver is not only a heartbreaking romance, bu

A Heart of Salt and Silver is the first book of Bell’s that I have read, but it certainly won’t be the last.

This book follows the stories of star-crossed former lovers, Ness (a half-demoness with a heart who is conflicted about her true nature) and Nolan (a wolf shifter, warrior, and activist).

The adventure starts off when Ness saves Elias (a young man seeking out the father who abandoned him and his family) from a vampire and his seeming stooge companion in her forest. In healing the badly wou

Fascinating Fantasy

Elexis Bell takes a deep dive into the thoughts of her characters. I enjoyed how the different paranormal worlds interacted. Her main character Ness struggles with her dual nature up to the end.

Rating: 4.4/5

Intelligently written, the book was very enjoyable and preppy to read.

I liked for a fact that it was written in present tense; it let me immerse myself in the story. The book has a strong start leading slowly to the main plot of the story. To see simple actions written so well makes me feel like it’s not as simple, maybe it’s something more, something I’m missing. It makes the character, eventually connecting with their personalities. It’s a great writing style to keep the reader c

This is an amazing book. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. Ness is a demigod who is still in love with her ex werewolf, Nolan. One day she ends up saving Elias, who is a mortal. Elias starts to have feelings for Ness but Ness's heart belongs to Nolan. Can she ever move on with Elias? You'll just have to read it and find out. If you like reading books about a Demigod, werewolves, & vampires, then you'll want to read this one. ...more

A whole lot of world building but doesn't take away from a brilliant story. Ness is a relatable character and has brilliant development through the book. An unexpected ending. Definitely worth a read. ...more

I received a free ARC for an honest review of this book.

Although I enjoyed the book as a whole I almost felt like I had missed an earlier book as there were still elements of the back story still missing.
It did catch my attention straight away but for me the middle was a bit slow and I found the relationship a bit off putting during parts of the story. At the same time by the end of the book I loved it and would enjoy reading more in this world.

ARC from NetGalley

This actually wasn't badly written, but I had a hard time really connecting with the characters and the story. Elias is a good example. He exists only to push the plot forward, and his character tends to shift voice a lot. I couldn't connect with him, because he was a tool for the writer to make the MC's true love more substantial and create some friction and suspense. It failed though, because it was so obvious. He got far more screen time than necessary. Ness self-loathes thr
