5 stars & 5/10 hearts. This comic is hilarious and heartwarming. I love Brutus, so gruff and harsh, soft-hearted and fiercely overprotective, and battling PTSD from being a MWD. Pixie is the most adorable thing and I really relate to her sweetness, optimism, exuberance, and lack of foresight. Reckless Randal, sarcastic Mr. Wrinkles, cutely stupid Lola, cocky Dexter, and that big teddy bear of a Hugo round out the cast perfectly, with an occasional addition of Gerald the Eagle-brother of Pixie. It’s a rambly series of comic strips without much of a time line or plot, just a collection of incidences in the characters’ lives, but it’s well drawn, super duper cute, and really very funny.
Content: euphemisms, a few episodes dealing with Halloween/characters pretending to be magical, one episode where Brutus’ backstory is explained, which is slightly violent.
All the best dog-cat love you didn't know you needed.
Just go and read this. This series is ongoing and it's going to hit 100 episodes soon!
Brutus, a retired military dog, and Pixie, the little cutest kitten ever, makes a family of love, warmth and all the things you need to see the sulking world turning into a ball of gummy bears. JK. But it sure does for me.
Brutus is strict yet he cannot do anything against Pixie's positivity. Pixie. Damn. We all need a Pixie in our lives.
I have been a fan of the 'Pixie and Brutus' comics for over a couple of years now. Earlier today, I had the urge to binge-read all of their comics (available to read for free on Webtoons).
I ended up devouring all of the 137 issues (as of August 5th, 2023) in a single sitting. I had forgotten how adorable and lighthearted these mini-stories were! It was, truly, a delight to read them. I'm hoping to see more quality content from the artist in the coming days!
More of a 3.5 star rating but I gave it 4 stars because I love the absolute wholesome friendship between Brutus and Pixie. Brutus is ready to kill for Pixie, meanwhile Pixie is just in her own little world and being a bit overly curious. There were plenty of funny moments, as well as the occasional serious moment, but overall this is a very light and enjoyable read.
Please take a moment to enjoy reading this wonderful comic of two main furry friends who grow, learn, and love one another. (App: webtoon: search: Pet Foolery)
This is definitely not your typical webtoon with a complex storyline and interesting characters. But nonetheless it’s super cute and occasionally funny.
Meet Brutus. He is a serious minded military dog but after his owner passed away he was sent to live with a civilian family where he encountered his little sister Pixie. Now Pixie isn’t another dog, instead she’s a sweet and adorable kitten who’s full of life and imagination. Two completely distinct characters that still manage to be entertaining. Of course there are also side characters like Wrinkles, who is a Sphinx cat and is really sarcastic, and Lola, a sweet dog who doesn’t really have that much brains. I wouldn’t say that the characters are memorable since they really don’t make an impact on me.
My favorite character would be Wrinkles because of how he makes a fool out of Lola and his reactions and the way he says things are just straight up hilarious. Pixie is the character that I resonate with the most. I definitely have her carefree spirit and crazy imagination and a desire to do many ambitious things.
With that said now let’s move to the art style. I LOVE the way the creator drew all the characters, and honestly it fits their personalities so well too. There are some issues with it though. Sizing will deviate drastically from one comic strip to the next, so there’s a lack of consistency which I would appreciate. I think adding more colorful backgrounds would really enhance the comic more.
Another aspect I want to mention is the fact that there’s no real story line. It’s just a bunch of comic strips that highlight some of the aspects in Brutus and Pixie’s life, so it’s really all over the place.
Overall, I’d say it’s a decent comic, something you could read if you need a break or you’re just bored but it’s not the best comic ever.
1. Premise: Scarred veteran military dog gets adopted into the same house as innocent baby kitten. They form a bond.
2. I first encountered these on tumblr and they are fucking adorable. The animals have very distinct personalities. Brutus is a darling with a marshmallow center. Pixie is a literal baby with high energy and aspirations to badassery. Their neighbor cat/dog team are a comedy duo. There's a St.Bernard who's scared of everything and a feral raccoon. There's also an eagle who's enchanted by Pixie (as they should be). It's sitcom life starring pets.
3. One thing I really liked about the expanded comics are the ones where Pixie is a little more grown up- a young adult-ish cat rather than a kitten. This is because sometimes the sheer level of oblivious Pixie was put me off a little, and so it's great to realize it is not a deliberate characterization for cute points but just Pixie being a literal baby.
4. it's so cute and sweet and good-natured you guys it's like getting wrapped up in a hug and there's not even that much of it you should all go check it out.
Such cute interactions between a tiny kitty and a big older, war-veteran German shepherd, along with all the other neighboring creatures around their home.
