The King of Minear's Son
Prince Taelor Pevrel believes he is an only child until, at the age of twenty-two, he meets his half-sister, Alene, who just learned the story of her true parentage. She arrives in the kingdom of Minear to meet her father, King Naelor, and to connect with her newly discovered family. Taelor and Alene form an immediate bond with each other. However, King Naelor, cold and proud, takes a whole different attitude towards Alene, considering her a threat to the future of the Pevrel dynasty.
Determined not to let Alene have a claim to his throne, Naelor attempts to assassinate her. When Taelor surmises that his father was behind the heinous act, tragic events ensue which lead him to forsake his title and to flee Minear. Accompanying him on his journey are his loyal servant, Leygon, and a cheeky knight, Lance. I completed this book recently and I couldn't stop thinking about it, it's such an amazing vintage blend of genres which not just makes it unique but also makes it more interesting and mesmerizing. The storyline is extremely gripping right from the very beginning, I picked this book because I was so curious about the title and so is the story, it's just so unpredictable and it follows many unexpected turns.

If you are reading it, I will advise you to totally give in yourself to get the best feel. The best thing is, the world buildings and characters are so mesmerizing, the author built them so well within just few pages, I was reading and I didn't realize that plot was forming an overall web.

But things don't go so easy between them and suddenly their world is upside down, this story reminds me of those grand and royal stories I used to read in childhood, because not just the settings are grand, the entire book is so royal and anyone who picks is sure to get that rich experience.

Everyone who has a good taste of literature, ruling, kings and dynasties would love it for it. I will definitely recommend it.

"The King of Minear's Son" is an excellent medieval fantasy read with wonderful characters and a unique and interesting plot. It follows the story of Prince Taelor, a young man who is heir to the throne of Minear. Throughout the story, the reader will experience loyalty, betrayal, love, heartbreak, happiness, and tragedy as they follow Taelor on his adventures that will test the true bonds of family and friendship. The author, Rachel Passer, does a wonderful job leading you on this adventure through the eyes of Taelor in a thrilling tale that will keep you continuously guessing what will happen next.

The King of Minear's Son is a debut novel that's in equal measures promising and satisfying. Rachel skillfully combines the genres of Bildungsroman and Fantasy in a pacy, adventure-packed narrative that kept me entertained and surprised with its many twists and turns. I particularly enjoyed the secondary characters that brought a perfect measure of snark and levity to an otherwise quite intense plot. With a first literary offering like this, I'm very interested to see how Rachel's writing will develop and flourish in the years to come!

I have been long awaiting the release of this incredible novel and here it is! Without giving away spoilers, the characters are beautifully crafted and the lead character Taelor adds a level of "eye candy" for the reader. The story is gripping from start to finish, leaving you wanting more and you feel like part of the family. R.J Passer is a hugely talented author and this is her debut novel so looking forward to reading more enthralling and delightful reads ahead. I would highly recommend and I am blessed to have enjoyed such a wonderful novel.

The King of Minear’s Son is an impressive amalgamation and contribution to the long historical line of fantasy.
Passer makes her mark well in this regard as she adds her voice to this genre of historical-fantasy and fairytale. Inspired by the greats like J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and gothic greats like Oscar Wilde, Mary Shelley, and Shakespeare — the resonance of her imagining is like a match struck under a full-moon. At its best, it’s incomprehensible how Passer combines all these influences so well, but we must trust as the reader and respect her craft for how she manages to pull this off so well.
There’s an atmospheric humor latent within the whole novel, which I found to be extremely endearing while simultaneously critical of the historical context in which these stories take place. Ranging from critiques of the inherent toxic, glorified masculinity normalized within this genre, to the dark macabre humor Passer plays with so well, this novel is surely a testament to a new line of novels to come within the genre: one written and occupied within the realm of women.
Taelor, the protagonist, is a sensitive, moody protagonist — the King-to-be of Minear. Passer crafts his narrative consciously as she examines what becomes of rulers in charge and how their eyes harden in the name of the law and the patriarchy. Taelor’s progression into this role of criticality is written extremely well and consciously.
As the level of morbidity continues (as witnessed in deaths and shocking turns-of-events), Passer’s unconscious atmospheric humor moves her novel forward. In each death and passing, there is an undeniable level of macabre humor — of the natural way of this world and of the need to quit glorifying those who live in Kingdoms and under the realm of a monarchy.
A touching, fantastical, thought-provoking piece, surely. I look forward to the long future of this author as she makes her mark in a genre often defined by men, glorified by men, and continued by men.

The story follows Prince Taelor whose life is upended when a half-sister he never knew about turns up in Minear. Though Taelor is welcoming, his father the king worries that she will be a threat to his dynasty and attempts to take her life. The bonds of father and son are then tested and Taelor will then make a decision that forces him to leave the land of his birth and that spurs the story forward.
On his journey, Taelor experiences several dire complications that kept the story moving and kept me turning the pages into the wee hours of the night. Taelor is haunted by memories, attacked by outlaws, and tormented by a prophecy from witches to name a few.
The fictional Kingdom of Minear itself was a wonderfully crafted world full of complex characters. In fact, I found every character in the novel, even secondary ones well written and engaging. Both main female characters were strong.
Passer has crafted a fantasy with a Greek tragedy feel which I absolutely loved. This engaging tale was just the escape I needed during these very trying times.

Lately reading has been a hard thing to get back into after years of burnout (ya'know life lol). But The King of Minear's Son is an excellent book to read to get that spark back. The fact that this is a debut novel is incredible. As a queer person, Pascale is by far - in my opinion - the best character. I also enjoy Lance as well, as he reminds me of Lancelot (especially in the context of this being a fantasy novel) but more sassy. Prince Taelor is moody, tragic, and just everything you want from a protagonist, especially one that isn't so innocent to the tragedies that have befallen him. The world building worthy of Tolkien, the detail, the Shakespearean influences such as the witches, everything was just *chef's kiss*. R.J. Passer is an excellent story teller, and if this is the start of her journey, I cannot wait to read what comes next.

A great read!! Grabbed my attention right from the beginning all the way until the end! Very well written with well thought out characters. Through the book you empathize with the characters, keeping you engaged throughout. You can really feel the emotions, and is very heartfelt! I really recommend this book to readers of all ages!!

I’ll be first to say that fantasy type books is something I don’t really read. But I really enjoyed this book!
It was a nice easy read that had me turning pages so quickly!
I really liked the pacing of the story and the relationships the characters had with each other. Especially the relationship between King Naeloe and Prince Taelor. It felt very realistic that while a king can love his child very much, he must also be a strong and almost cold king to protect what he has.
There were times I felt the story progressed to quickly, but it did not ruin the experience or flow of the book for me.
I recommend this book if your new to fantasy like books. It’s got a good mix of a little of everything and the old Shakespearean like language is not difficult to comprehend.

"The King of Minear's Son" is a real page-turner! I enjoyed the entirety of this book. The characters are relatable, the plot is interesting, and the chain of events that unfold kept me engaged. The novel has a mix of drama, suspense, thrill, humor, and history. I liked seeing how the main character matures throughout the story. I thought Taelor's companions were examples of the kinds of friends everyone needs in life. There were a few parts that caught me by surprise too. The author clearly worked very hard to put this together, as the novel is well-written, entertaining, and enticing. I recommend it!

The book I am about to tell you all today will take you to it's own fantasy world/kingdom with its own rules and life. The title "The King of Minear's son" is a perfect title for the book and the cover as you all see is a very basic yet attractive cover.

The story is set in Minear. Naelor is the king of this kingdom and he has a six years old son Prince Taelor. Prince Taelor was very small when he lost his mother Queen Torina. As Taelor needed a female support to grow, his father hired Miss Hale as Taelor's nanny and Taelor soon formed a bond with her.
Also King Naelor bought a horse to Taelor so he can overcome the grief of his mother's death and form a bond with the royal horse. Taelor thinks that he is the only child of his father. What gonna happen when later in life he will find out about another child of his father? Grab a copy of this book and read the story yourself to know the suspense.
