Complete with story development, character creation, conceptual art, and photographs of the Broadway production, Beauty and the A Celebration of the Broadway Musical goes behind the scenes and behind the magic of this spectacular show. The special effects in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway were created by two of the best illusionists in the business - Jim Steinmeyer and John Gaughan, who have worked with magicians David Copperfield and Doug Henning. The secrets behind this painstaking production are revealed in vivid detail - from how the enchantress slowly transforms the servants into objects to how the Beast flies through the air and transforms into a prince. Donald Frantz, associate producer of Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, provides an intimate account of this elaborate production. The complete song lyrics written by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice are also included. Covering all elements of production, including set design, costume design, makeup, music, casting, lighting, and more, this lavish, beautifully designed book will delight all those entranced by the musical.
Not as impressive as other books to this type. Seems to leave a lot of holes in the story. Some beautiful pictures and drawings of costumes, sets, etc. Obvious that some of the quotes are taken from interviews that were for other purposes.
I loved this book! I love "Beauty and the Beast" and although I've never seen the musical and only heard the (amazing) music, it was wonderful to read about how everything happened and how the costumes and characters were designed. It makes me want to see it even more now!
