Southern Hearts Club #2

The Six Month Lease

Rate this book
Never have I ever…decided to move in with a guy after dating him for only three weeks.

Just kidding. That’s exactly what I did.

And like most of you are probably thinking, it inevitably blew up in my face when we broke up two days after signing our lease.

Now, I’m stuck living with my ex. The same man who turned my life completely upside down in record time.

For. Six. Whole. Months.

It doesn’t matter how many times he flashes those abs at me after a shower, or how close his bedroom is to mine. I will resist him because he’s simply not the right guy for me.

But if I thought he’d done a number on me before, that’s nothing compared to what happens after I finally learn the secret he’s been keeping from me this entire time.

you know im a shitty reviewer, i know im a shitty reviewer. so here’s the summary :

harper met west one beautiful afternoon (or evening idfk). theres insta love, insta lust, insta everything bcs theyre officially dating the next day, decided to move in together two weeks later, and signed a six-month lease on a house days after that. three days before they’re scheduled to move in, they had a blowup fight, which ended in them breaking up. and now they live together. so the premise is, for the next 6 months, harper has to live with her ex who she’s only known for a total of 5 weeks. fun? yes bcs theres pranks

now my prob :

¥ : lacked the angst i wanted and expected. like, the premise is goodddd (for me), why gotta waste such potential to a story bout exes without tension? it doesnt feel like exes at all bcs they havent known each other long enough but still. the chemistry felt kinda flat to me, it coulda been better

¥ : there were too many sex scenes imo. their emotional connection was sooo lacking for me their relationship ended up incomplete. those coitus scenes shoulda been replaced by more sweet momentz for their love to be more believable

¥ : i hate doormat heroine, but i hate when the h is a stubborn ass to the H only but a pushover to the other shitty ppl in her life, not minding the fact that the H was the only sane ppl there, even more. not the case here bcs theres only 2 shitty people in harper’s life (im actually talking ab another book haha), but just saying, that problem with shae and her mother? harper my girl shoulda seen it coming. fr

has a lil similar vibe 2 Enemies With Benefits somehow (not much), but i liked it overall and this one definitely deserves more hype

I hate that cover.

The story however, exceeded my expectation. It is tale as old as time, but this book is about Harper St Clair, daughter of a socialite and aspiring cosmetics maker; and West Deveraux, a helicopter pilot coming from a humble beginning. They fell in love as fast as they broke up. Stuffs happened and now they have to share the same apartment for six months.

I love how the story progressed. The hilarious altercations. The hot passionate encounters. The way they resolved their differences and yet respected each other opinions. I felt good reading this book with a small crying jag at the end. I'm just in love with this sweet couple.

💋💋💋

Funny , sassy and passionate. This is one to really lighten your day and keep the entertainment coming.

West is a pilot , aviators the lot and so hot. This guy will steam up your kindle for sure.
Harper is friendly , sassy and supportive as a friend and partner, she’s a beauty and has a heart of gold.

These two have electric chemistry, it sparks off every page, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Her nemesis is her mum , you’ll find out why , she’s evil .
Her 3 friends are her saving grace and her fallback when everything hits the fan .

Great story and addictive characters.
Almost as good as book 1, but very enjoyable non the less .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

When Harper and West met they believed that they had found their “one” so after a few weeks of dating they jumped in with both feet and signed a six month lease. The only problem with that plan is that their relationship was too new to overcome their first disagreement and now they find themselves as reluctant roommates.

Although their relationship may have ended the chemistry between them hasn’t, but will this be their second chance or are they destined for heartbreak?

Fun and flirty Harper and West were perfect for each other he is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy and she is loyal to the core. The chemistry between them was intense, the pranks humorous and there is a great group of secondary characters who I would like to see get their own story as well.

I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. The story was about Harper and West moving in together after dating for three weeks. The problem was that they just broken up and cannot break the new lease. Somehow they were stuck as roommates after a breakup. The two had amazing chemistry and you cannot help but cheer them on to get back together. They were some really steamy scenes! Her loyal besties were amazing, loyal and hilarious. I really liked West and he proved to be a good guy. There were times I wanted to talk some sense into Harper but she grew as a character towards the end. Overall, it was a cute book!

A funny story I thought with moments that made you think as well. Harper meets West at a Saturday morning market while he is trying to decide what last-minute necklace to buy his sister for her birthday which just so happens is this day. After his trying to say he forgot her birthday but could answer the sport trivia questions thrown at him by Harper his memory is not that bad. Here she helps him with a necklace and they start to date. Three weeks later they decide to move in together and then right before they move in, they get into a fight, which really is a disagreement that could have been settled right their but is not. Not being able to get out of the lease they still must live together because her whole idea was to get away from her mother.
Here is a story with each one doing practical jokes to each other, her friends helping to see that she can have more in life than what her mother keeps pushing her for. You also get to see her character grow throughout the story. She does take some steps backward at times but she learns and moves onward. She is able to see what everyone her friends and West see in her by the time you get towards the end and you are leading towards what you hope for is a happy ending, what happens is up to you if you chose to read this very funny and good book. Did Barbie find her Ken doll???

So many twists and turns with this one, but definitely on my recommendation list. I would recommend starting this series from the beginning, since the characters continue into the next books.
Happy reading : )

I can’t say no to a Melanie Munton novel, i.e. The Divorce Attorney, Lace & Lies, Scars & Sins, and The Unforgettable Kind. Her romances are funny and super sexy. So, when I saw the opportunity to read about exes sharing an apartment together, let the heat begin!

Harper St. Clair is a beautiful sensual woman who is kind and generous to a fault. She has a tendency of having her evil mother and bitchy best friend Shea walk all over her to the detriment of her happiness and when she finally calls their bluff, it is a sight to see. But when it comes to West, he has her back. His actions speak volumes and boy, are they worth reading about.

Helicopter pilot, West Devereaux is yummy hotness with an extreme possessive streak for his ex, Harper. His deliciously dirty mouth and wicked ways make him one of my favorite Munton boys. It’s obvious he has it bad for Harper from the first moment they meet and his determination to get her back after their first real fight is absolutely delectable to watch. He’s definitely a keeper!

The chemistry between Harper and West is explosive. Being stuck in a rental for 6 months with someone you just broke up is difficult. But their hilarious pranks, i.e. toothpaste in Oreos, vinegar in wine, etc., and flirty and sexy encounters that break Harper’s rules of the house are oh, so hot. My favorite fabulously smutty scene is in the garden at Sloane and Carter’s party. Whew! Hold on to your panties. As for Harper’s friends Sloane (who we got to know intimately in The Divorce Attorney), Quinn, and Gretchen, they are her real family with their support and hilarious antics. I can’t wait to read Gretchen’s story.

Overall, one of my favorite authors does it again by giving the reader a hilarious and sensual romantic comedy with a HEA. Pick it up. You’ll love it!

Thank you once again, to Melanie for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Moving in with your boyfriend and then breaking up?!?! Forced proximity perfection. The sexual tension and angst is off the charts! I LOVE West in this book! He’s so sexy, bossy, and sweet. Harper tries to fight it but ultimately, gives in to her heart’s desire. Loved it!

Loved it!

Melanie Munton delivered a fun & wonderful tale of second chances, acceptance, self-discovery, friendship & love. West & Harper were a couple I began rooting for from the first few pages, and I was so happy with their HEA. I loved their rivalry and enjoyed the pranks a lot!

I really liked West. He was a good friend and partner. He pushed Harper to step outside her mother's expectations and live for herself. I was sold on him from their first interaction. Harper herself needed to work through some things, but eventually, she became the woman that West and her best friends knew she could be.

I'm loving this group of women so much! I can't wait for book 3!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Two people fell in love and moved in... but what do you do when you break up soon as you sign the lease.
Harper and West fell in love (lust) and they decided to move in together except their love didn't last long as their lease. Now they have to live together for next 6 months as roommates. Now they just have to last as long as their lease before they kill each other.
This book was funnier than I expected. Harper and West constantly banter and annoyed each other and it was great. And finally they find each other and understand each other. It was feel good romance.
I would recommend it. This could be standalone ( I didn't know this was part of a series and I only read this one.)
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for ARC.

This book has a really fresh premise that I totally loved. After a whirlwind two weeks of romance, West and Harper sign a six month lease on a rental house and then break up. Forced to live out the lease with their ex brings lots of sexual tension, pranks, and heat!

This book had great fighting and banter between these two and their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS HOT. The steamy scenes are extra steamy.

I had a few issues with the book, the first and really major one was the repeated use of the term "Pale Face" to describe a character. The publishers and author really should have done a minute or two of research to recognize that this term is extremely offensive. It is a term created by WHITE people in Hollywood to ascribe to Native Americans being bloodthirsty and violent towards white Americans. It was started in an effort to make the movie audience feel like Native Americans were racist towards white people and plotting to destroy them out of hatred. It's just insanely not okay to use this term any form.

Besides that awful oversight, this story had a few issues. The leading lady suffers from TSTL Syndrome (Too Stupid To Live). You repeatedly shake your head and wonder how an adult female is this blind and idiotic. She is still fairly liable, but it's really annoying.

Overall, a good premise, some good banter, but not a great book.

I received and free ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

When I read The Divorce Attorney a few months ago, I raved about reading this new-to-me author's work and how much I enjoyed her writing and the emotions she evoked in me. I also mentioned that I would have liked to have read Carter's POV in The Divorce Attorney. Let me say, that I want to take that back, because I absolutely adored reading this second standalone book in the Southern Hearts Club Series, and I definitely didn't need West's POV to know exactly what he was feeling, thinking and experiencing in this book! If possible, I enjoyed this book even more than the first book. The concept of 4 best friends being there for each other and having each other's backs no matter what is so refreshing. I love these girls and want to be part of their club if they'll have me! I loved Harper and West together, but I also loved them individually--what wonderfully developed characters. This may have been a sexy, sweet rom-com, but it had all the emotional feels as well, with some thought-provoking moments that brought tears to my eyes. All in all, this was a perfect 5+ star read that I couldn't put down. I can't wait for Gretchen's story! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Something about this book had me not wanting to put it down after I picked it up. Melanie Munton is a new author to me. I loved the concert of this book. Harper and West had a whirled romance and then a just as quick break up. Too bad they singed a lease for a place together. Now, since they cant afford to get out of the lease, they are stuck together for at least 6 months. As the book plays out. we find out why they break up and the truth about their feelings for each other.

I loved Harper and West. Maybe West a little more. He was a stand up guy. Harper needed more of a backbone with just about everyone in her life.

Over all, I really liked this one. So much so, I went and bought book one in this series to catch up!

After reading 'The Divorce Attorney' and meeting the girls from this series, I was really curious about Harper's story. Harper and West had a sweet, pretty low key but hot meet cute. While the story started out after their break up, we are navigating their roommate status relationship. As we learn why they broke up, you can tell they still have so much love and lust between them. Harper has a friend who has always been toxic to her and people around her but she doesn't see it. She makes excuses and is very loyal to this selfish friend. But, while Harper is thinking one way and is uber stubborn but doesn't see how much West loves her.

I really enjoyed West. He was great. He is so in love with his girl. I am looking forward to the next book with these gals.

I received this book from Goodreads and any opinions expressed are my own.

This book actually made me crack up in some parts. The sexual tension, along with the tricks the main characters played on each other, really made the character’s personalities come off of the page. The author was very descriptive and it was easy to picture in your mind what was happening.
Harper, the main character, has three friends that every girl would love to hang out with. These three are hilarious and they give out really good advice. I can’t wait to read about their love lives. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Harper is at her local community market where she quickly becomes enticed with Wes a man she met at a booth. The connection was instant and with a few weeks they signed a six month lease to live together. Unfortunately things did not go as planned and they broke up, but decided to live together as roommates and to not give others the satisfaction of saying I told you so.

While living together, pranks and flirting and sexual tension arose.....what will happen between Harper and West was it a mistake or fate?

I think this one is better than The Divorce Attorney. It is so freaking hilarious I didn't want to put it down! The chemistry between Harper and West is explosive. Although their relationship may have ended, the chemistry between them hasn’t. And they're supposed to live together for six months. How would that go? You can definitely expect some fun banter, hilarious altercations and pranks between them.

Cute and funny

This is the first book that I have read by this author and now I need more. This story was lighthearted and fun too read. The meet cute at the beginning did a great job of setting the story as full of energy and laughs. Both West and Harper seem stubborn yet really caring. Both West and Harper use little pranks to get the others attention. You will laugh throughout the whole book and you will be hoping for only good things for Harper and West together.

DNF @ 18%

I wanted to dnf this since first chapter, but I hoped it'd get better. It didn't. I made it to 5th chapter. Harper is so annoying and reading her thoughts was not fun nor funny. I stopped reading when she got out of her room, half naked, knowing that her ex and his friends were in the living room, where she had to pass through. She was desperate and she was trying too hard. And I didn't like the way his friends acted either.
I liked the previous book, but this was awful.

New author for me. Skipped the first one after skimming reviews. Doesn't feel like I missed anything.

Harper and West are unintentionally good together. Funny and solid chemistry. Their fatal flaw is that their communication skills suck. Well, that and Harper letting people treat her like a door mat. She grows eventually though

I def want the next one

DNF at 9%. I tried to skim to give it more of a chance. Loved the first book but there was something about Harper that was an immediate turn-off. She came on strong and immodest. I was looking forward to this one but I felt like I wasn't the right age demographic. I’ll try again another day or closer to book 3.

Sweet and Hot

Harper and West were so sweet! I loved their banter. They were passionate and hot, hot, hot. West was perfect for Harper- he always encouraged her to follow her dreams. He had her back no matter what. You could really feel the love between these characters before it was even mentioned. Can’t wait for Gretchen’s story!
