Welcome to Fortune Academy Underworld, a place where supernaturals can feel at home. And now I know exactly what the hell I am.
I’m a tribrid. Part succubus, part Demonspawn, and part angel. I earned my wings when I made the ultimate sacrifice for my mates by dying for them. Now I’m reborn as the Princess of Hell.
Too bad that doesn’t exempt me from my classes.
Fortune Academy has changed. When the gates of Hell opened up, it merged with its counterpart and became something new. We’re building an army to fight Lucifer, but all the supernaturals flooding through the iron gates are lost, confused, and in desperate need of training.
Especially Cole, my latest Virtue who refuses to get in line.
He’s misguided, lost, and has an eternity of bad behavior that’ll need to be undone. But I’m reaching him, I just hope I don’t lose myself in the process.
Fortune Academy Underworld is Book 4 in a NA paranormal academy romance series with fated mates where there’s no choosing required.
USA Today Bestselling Author J.R. Thorn is a Reverse Harem Romance author. The events of a single day do not count as a novel, no matter how much happens or how many chapters you break them into. I loved the previous books of this series but this one was a complete let down. I still love the story and the plot and the characters and their journeys. But this shouldn't have been published as a separate book. That's just bad business.
Okay, first, can I just say how amazingly helpful the books 1-3 recap at the beginning was?! I wish more authors would include something similar in their books. It was such a great refresher, I often feel like I’m fumbling a bit to remember plot points from previous books in a series when it’s been a while since I read them. Lily is back, but fortune academy is now fortune academy underworld and almost everything has changed. For one thing, much more time has passed for everyone else who was still among the living. Calamity still threatens but it has a new, more dangerous conduit now and Lily is facing a lot of adversity from her Virtues who were left behind, albeit unwillingly, when she died. This book definitely set the stage for a lot of action to come and I can’t wait to find out what comes next!
I'm still enjoying the story. I love the uni-hare that's introduced to us - it sounds so freaking cute!!
The author sort of dropped the ball on one thing in this book. Either earlier in this one or in the previous book, it's learned that one of Dante's scars was caused by Lily, but since it happened before her memory wipe, she didn't remember. At the 75% mark in this book, Dante tells Lily about it again like it's a great reveal. She acts like she didn't know. The author clearly forgot she had already told us about this earlier.
Despite the FMC, her mom, and even other characters explaining how the guys really aren't so bad or that they've changed, it's still a bit hard to like some of them. Olivia tells Lily something about Hendrick that does help earn him a little brownie point, but these guys still aren't exactly loveable. We don't even see enough of them in this book to try to warm up to the 'changed' versions of them. Considering this is a 10 book long series, I'm sure we'll see more of them soon, but they're no more than secondary characters, really, in this book.
Anyway, that's just my thoughts. I'm going to try to jump into book five before I decide to be responsible and get some sleep!
Welcome to Fortune Academy Underworld, a place where supernaturals can feel at home.” Well I can’t believe we are on book four already and lily is back! Fortune academy is now something new and there’s more action, more adventure , more supernaturals and you will not be able to put this down! Great storyline, fantastic characters, this NA, fated mates, paranormal romance is highly addictive.
The bonds between our characters are frayed. A new virtue is wreaking havoc. And a new nemesis appears to take on the mantle for Calamity.
I both loved and hated the cliff hanger ending to this book as I sat up while reading the last pages to then fall into shock that it just stopped.
I am so glad all the books are out already, as I think I'd cry if I'd had to wait for book 5 😅
This was a tense read with twists and turns all hinging on rage as the underlying theme so I'm very interested to know if this is resolved or continues to plague our heroes in the making ...
Lucy… I’m hooooome! Oh wait, everyone thought she was dead? Yeah, not so much. New power unlocked, check. Bond circle falling apart, check. Cole being a raging douche canoe, check. Our girl trying to unfuck what got fucked with no lube while she was evolving, check. Cole being a raging douche canoe, check and mate.
That about sums up this book and now I want to see how Lily moves forward from here and how she gets Cole to stop being such an ass.
I love that she’s so innocent/inexperienced by her own making even, but good gracious waiting for her to finally start accepting herself has been hard. I can’t wait for what is next.
✳️✳️ONE FASCINATING ADVENTURE✳️✳️ Howling heckles homer! Thorn not only brought it she waxed the floor with it, jumping hurdles and spinning hoops, pulling out all the stops with this gut-clenching thrill ride, grabbing your attention from the start and holding it steady until the end, blasting this hot little number to new heights. One action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, nailbiting, nerve racking, block busting dynamo, raising the stakes and keeping it real, testing our characters in ways they could have never imagined, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. Bound, wound and crisply coiled exposing the explosive ups and agonizing downs breathtaking in it's simplicity and inspiring in it's strength, observing the arduous struggles and challenging triumphs while attentive to the stunning twists and wicked turns unfolding, secrets are shared, revelations unmasked and promises made, skyrocketing this jewel to life spectacularly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Remarkable job Thorn, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
So I had started this idk when and walked away. I apparently didn’t close out because when I reopened kindle it was wherever I left off and sadly enough I decided to finish it.
Idk what’s left to say except this is a collection of chapters without a fully fledged plot conflict climax and conclusion. It’s just a money grab to get you to the next book.
There is 10 in the series and this was four so while there is a central plot to the series this author is dragging it out in what could have been a book or two. Never fear these books are so short they read like a few chapters and end so abruptly it lends to the cash grab theory.
It isn’t a bad story line. It is interesting. But I honestly just do not care enough to keep reading. I assume she saves stops calamity and defeats Lucifer, regains her powers and gets a HEA with her harem which I believe eventually gets up to 9.
I won’t be reading on to see if I am right, I won’t even read on to see who the final characters in her harem are and their powers to help in the big battle ahead. Tired of being strung along with nothing to show for this snippet books.
I didn't like this one too much. It really was just a vague book that was hinting the whole time that there are many many more books to come. That didn't make me happy either 9+ books to come and here at book 4 we have enough filler that it could've all been in book 3. Now, she's going to be balancing so many men as well...for me to believe that this is all love and so forth is going to be hard
Why do I continue reading this series? It's absolutely ridiculous! Nothing makes sense. Lily is just an idiot. And what was that comment in the beginning of this book about her having gotten the guys back for how they treated her? No Lily, you didn't! You just accepted that that's just who they were and accepted they would continue treating you badly. Cole? I just don't understand why Lily even wanted to try to make things work with him. I agreed with her mom that she doesn't have to act on the bond just because it's there.
I'll be honest that nothing really happened in this book. Yes, Lily comes back from the dead. But everything that happened in this book seemed like filler. Her relationships with her virtues has had very little progression. She seems to spend very little time with any of them. I'm not sure why she's still rooming with Olivia instead of rotating through with her guys. Their relationship is just so odd. Like friends/enemies with very occasional benefits. Very rarely are they intimate. It's just weird! I guess virtues are different than mates? I'm not sure because the words are occasionally interchanged. Virtues are mates, but you don't have to accept the bond. So, why does she accept guys who treat her badly? The guys may be sort of coming around in this book, but not quickly enough for redemption.
One other thing that bothers me in this series is all the time jumping. Its confusing and really detracts from the story line.
I'm not invested in this series because I don't like the characters. But, the plot has potential, so I will continue reading even if the series isn't great.
Well I just devoured this book in about 6 hours and omg was it worth it!!
I’ve waited for just under a year for book 4 to come out and this book exceeded my expectations!!
We finally get to see Lily returning to the land of the living but everything isn’t how she once knew it.
The third Calamity was well underway and was slowly merging hell with neighbouring realms.
Lily goes in search of all her virtues but after a year of thinking that she was dead, reconnecting with them is harder than she expected.
Cole has become a force to be reckoned with and wants her all for himself, destroying her mates in the process.
Lucifer is still trying to get back on the throne of hell all whilst trying destroy the academy.
Not only that, but a new and unexpected world begins to merge with Hell and people inside could be part of the answer to eventually beating the third Calamity and becoming the long awaited victor.
Lily won’t let her virtues be alone any longer.
Can she save and reconnect with her mates? Can she beat Cole? Can she find the people she needs? What could possibly happen next!
Awesome read!!

The underworld was steamy in this new addition to the Fortune Academy series. It was a quick, action packed read that kept me entertained the entire time. Lilith has been gone what feels to her like hours, but has actually been a year for her mates. Dealing with the loss of her and trying to protect Fortune Academy from Lucifer's attacks and the impending Calamity, Lily must help heal her mate bonds and remind them why they chose her in the first place. All while keeping everyone at Fortune Academy alive...not big deal. The snark in this book was hilarious and the emotions the story evoked were powerful. I love Lily, yes even Cole, and can't wait to see what is in store next book. Lily and her mates deserve a happy ending at some point, right? If you like J.R. Thorn and have read any of Lily's books, you need to read this. You really do.
Despite having read this right after listening to books 1-3 (+ Burn in Hell), I did listen to the ‘Books 1-3 recap as told by Lily’ at the beginning of this one. It is soooo well done.
The action and drama in this one were pretty much non-stop. Lily also grows up quite a bit and continues to navigate her mates, her interesting supernatural traits, and the world she finds herself submerged in. This all takes some expert plotting and character development.
This book ends on a cliffhanger, but no worries—the next several installments are out now. Loved every minutes and it completely transported me, as all of Thorn’s ‘Blood Stone Universe’ books have so far.
5 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Audio: This narrator is FANTASTIC—she captures Lily and performs her attitude so well. I’m so impressed, it’s so perfect. 5-star performance.
I was so excited when Jen decided to make these books into another series staring the Underworld. After the last book, we saw Lili’s death by the Dean and after sacrificing part of herself she was able to come to the Underworld. What she didn’t expect was to be gone an entire year and have almost all of her mates give up on her or blame her for their circumstances. I felt for Lili in this book as she felt alone with having to deal with her crappy mates, Lucifer trying to take control and of course Cole’s rage effecting their bonds. I am hopeful that her mates will try to redeem themselves in the next few books and give her the love & support she needs to take on Lucifer - if not, hopefully she’s find someone worthy!

OMG!!! This book was long awaited for me!! After the last one left us on such a CRAZY cliffhanger, this book was so good to get back into the plot see how Lilly & the guys have been doing & how they'd heal the emotions & anger she & her virtues had. This book was beautifully written & I absolutely loved being able to get back into this world!! These characters just find a way to pull you into the story. Thorn can describe the world & the scenes with Lilly (& them) that makes it so easy to picture!! This book was magnificent & will leave you begging the next installment comes out soon!!! A must read! I definitely advise you to read the series from the beginning, not the beginning of Fortune Academy, but the beginning of the Bloodstone series!! You will not be disappointed!!
Fortune Academy Underworld by J.R. Thorn is Book 4 in the Fortune Academy series. This is so beautifully written that it pulls you into the story and you experience it with the characters. The author has brought us back into Lili and her guys lives. In the previous book Lili dies and what seems like hours to her is actually a year for her guys and they blame her for what has befallen them. This is an emotional roller coater ride as they come to grips with what has happened. All while this is happening Lili must contend with Lucifer trying to take control. This was a long awaited book that was worth the wait. There is so much going on and I am anxious to see where J.R. is taking us next. Phenomenal addition to the series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
i hate every single character up till now expect for logan. Literally everyone is annoying, and a red flag. And not a "i'm wearing green glasses red flag" NO!!! Actual Red fucking Flags.
And not only are the main male characters FUCKING ASXHOLES (expect logan and maybe orion), our FL is the most STUPID ANNOYING, NAIVE FEMALE LEAD I EVER READ ABOUT. She makes such stupid choices, acts all powerful just to lose and then we she FINALLY agrees that the boys need some fckn spanking, she starts drooling the second they take their shirts off LIKE WHAT????? GIRL KEEP UR MEOW MEOW IN CHECK, GET A LEASH OR SOMETHING shes so fckn embarassing i can't i dont even want to continue reading😭😭😭 sadly i cant dnf books so i have to put myself through all that shit
I really want these books to be written better. They are fun and the concept is interesting, but they are just a mess. Big reveals that happened in the last book are all of a sudden brand new information in this one. There are all these little side stories that I’m not sure if the author thinks we know about but we don’t. Almost all of her mates are awful, and now she has two more? 8 is too many, especially when the relationship aspect with the others is weak at best and nonexistent with a couple. It’s just getting really annoying and I’m mad because I have wasted time reading 4 books at this point and I want to know how it ends but I don’t want to have to read 6 more chaotic, poorly written books to find out.
LOVED the recap of books 1-3 before the first chapter. I've read them, but it really helped jog my memory. This is NOT a standalone read by any means. If you just read the recap you will be able to follow along, however I still suggest reading the books if you've never done so.
This series is so rich and multi layered, filled with fascinating and fun characters, all surrounding an amazingly strong female. Lily and her Virtues are not done fighting the good fight just yet. There's a whopper of a cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the next book. Looks like this quest is far from over. I can't wait to see what's up next.
This was almost a five star for me. And normally, I would only go down half a star, but it threw me right off.
In the previous book, we learned about one of Dante’s scars and how it was that it came about. This was revealed again in this book, but as if she didn’t already know when she did. For me that’s kind of a big plot hole that betas should’ve picked up on.
Aside from that, this was action packed with a lot of frustrating, but awesome roller coaster rides of emotion.
Another fanastically addictive read, that I couldn't put down, I was hooked from the start, unable to tear myself from this book. This was an emotional rollercoaster that had me reaching for the tissues as the fallout of Calamity impacted the mate bonds of Lily and her men, and the action packed plot kept me on the edge of my seat. This book definately deserves 5 stars across the board and I definately recomend this book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the forth book in the series and it absolutely tore me apart... In the best of ways. The emotions I had for lily and her men were beautiful and tragic all wrapped into one. There's lots of action, drama and all round feels. I loved how everything came together, the plot giving us lots to look out for and unpredictable scenes had me gasping. This world that J. R. Thorn has created is complex and beautifully designed. Such a great book. Really loved it!
Wow yet again this series knocked it out of the park. It not only has such a strong take to prisoners storyline that leaves you wanting so much more. It also shows you each character and how they have each grown during the many many twists before Lily came back. Cole is in this book alot more as we see him try to take Lily for himself. To know more your going to have to pick up your copy. You won't be disappointed this series is amazing and so kickass.
Well that was an unexpected twist! I am glad to see this series continue because there was just so much that needed to be dealt with. Now that Lili is back what is going to happen with calamity and her virtues? Will Cole be able to be a part of Lili's group or will he destroy everything and her mates? I can't wait for the next book and to see what Lucifer is up to? What weapon does he have that could possibly help him take back the throne? I look forward to finding out.
Fortune Academy Underworld: Book Four by J.R. Thorn is a fantastic story to read. This is book number four out of nine in this fantastic series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about paranormal academy romance.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
The long awaited next book in the series, it was completed worth the wait. So much time had passed since the last book, okay maybe not that much time. But it was enough to cause glorious chaos. I dove right in and didn’t come up for air until the end.
The character have evolved and I love how it’s so natural and not forced. The world building continues to be amazing and so detailed.
I loved this book so much! I’m so excited that J.R. decided to write 9 total books for Lily’s story because I need more from her and her virtues! And the bonus episodes from the guys’ perspectives...oh my god...they are fire! This universe that J.R. has written over multiple books is seriously my favorite RH! She is an amazing author and I can’t get enough of this universe she has created.
