I really love this series and it’s one of my favorite on-going manga series but I must say, this volume didn’t blow me away as much as, for example, the previous one did. There still were moments which surprised me and others I found truly hurtful. Maybe my problem simply is/was that this volume (also) focuses on one of the characters, I’m simply not overly interested in, even though it’s nice to know those new...developments.

Let’s see. Actually, one of the most painful moments already was at the beginning when there’s a teeny weeny scene with Djoser (the real Djoser, not the magai pharao!) in that hellish place. Since Djoser is one of my favorites (and it internally tore me apart to have magai Djoser call him the ”pitiful prince”), I’m yearning to see him and well, I’ve always hoped there’s a way to ...save him. This volume gave my foolish hope reasons to really because Djoser truly had an appearance! Okay, yes, he’s obviously stuck in some place which seems to be the hell and yes, from what I saw only magai Djoser can visit him there (so, this might just be something about Djoser‘s body being possessed by the other while his soul’s kept in hell — no me gusta!), but his soul still is there (!) and cries to be friends with Im again (THIS SCENE HURT SO MUCH!!!!). Stupid me, despite everything, hopes this to be enough to rescue Djoser which would mean, freeing him from being possessed, having him leave the hell and — oh pls, this MUST come true! — return him to the living! This would give him the chance to see Im again, they could make up, be friends, live happily. I’m a sucker for such sweet endings, though it would be bittersweet with everything that happened to Djoser and what he had to go through (dead or alive). Hm, and if he can’t be returned to the living (bear with me repeating that I truly hope with all my heart he can be returned!), I want him to be released from that hellish place, from being used and possessed. He needs to find peace one way or another and I’m 100% sure, he won’t be able as long as he didn’t talk it out with Im. There’s so much to say about Djoser, so much hope only because he had a very short appearance.

Luckily, Ramses came! To explain this, magai Djoser summons another dead “legend” like he did with Cleopatra. This time it is the legendary, most powerful egyptian emperor ever existing: Ramses II. //applauds// Certainly a great choice, I must admit. Of course, Im and the others have to face him but this is not what’s important here to say. He gives more reason to hope for Djoser! Yes, I’m focusing pretty much on that prince, no regrets, honestly. Ramses tells Im more about Djoser and what he says actually hurts even more than I thought it would. Nonetheless, it gave me hope! Firstly, he says, Djoser suffers (and has been suffering for 3000 years by now ;-; ), secondly, he says, Djoser’s refused to die. So, him still clinging to live should make it more possible to return him to the living, right? I love my very own logic~ I’m aware, I’ll have to wait and see how much of my dream for Im and Djoser will turn out to become true. But I’ll hope as long as I can!

It’s so good to know, I’m not the only one who wishes for their happiness and reunion! Now, for a little bit of time, let’s concentrate on the character who made a huge development in this volume: Hinome. I’m sorry to say, I wasn’t very interested in her for now. It’s my personal taste that I always seem to prefer men (one of the reasons why I really love to read josei), so I rarely grow too fond of female characters. Nonetheless, Hinome is a nice girl, also strong and determined and unfortunately she tends to think too lowly of herself. It’s cute how much she cares for Im! This already was slightly depicted in the previous volume but this volume makes her liking for him a big deal and I’m surely not the only one who thinks she has a crush on him. Hihi. It’s cute and having both realize their feelings for each other will turn out to be...interesting :3 Hinome only wants Im to be happy and always fears to be a burden to him (and the others), this is why mostly the end of this volume was grandios and also surprising because I never would have expected something like this, though, to be fair, I hadn’t thought about such a possibility either. Anyways, I want to focus on her wish to have Im be happy. Through her eyes, we learn a lot about Im and how he appears to her and so, I can say, satisfied, she shares my opinion and wish (we could found a reunite-Im-and-Djoser club!), so I have high expectations for her helping to make that wish come true and not to rest until that aim is reached! Let’s do it!

However, to come to an end: this volume truly had its highlights and was worth to be read, no doubt. It just didn’t blow me away as much as other ones in this series. Nonetheless, I’ll definitely buy the next installment! There’s just too much I still need to know and only because this volume focused on a character I don’t like very much I shouldn’t drop such an awesome series.

I really love Imhotep and the gang. In this volume there were a lot of surprises and a few scenes I foreshadowed (correct me If I spelled it wrong, please). All in all, ist was very nice and sweet. In Germany I have to wait until March to read the next Volume, which is soooo long.
